i just realised there are now no requirements and limits to bhp and tyres for seasonal events. brilliant!

Brilliant?
Takes the fun and skill needed out of it.
Now it's like the other events, overpowered car gets you the win.

IMO it would be more fun if you like have the max hp and tire limits like in gt4 for some events.
Its easy way to earn credits sometimes +you dont have to grind the same race over and over again :)

If you're dead serious about keeping it competitive, just don't over power it and don't slap on racing softs. Simple as that. I won the Mustang race with Sport Softs, Titanium Exhaust, Racing Fiter, and ECU. BTW 4th gear in the Mustang is loooooong.

Which is exactly what I'm forced to do every race to have any fun.

While i appreciate some people don't have discipline to measure themselves against the AI .... i for one enjoyed doing the races if nothing else, it gave me a lovely pep up the creds and levels...

Had got to 20 with about 1m credits and was slowly churning my way to 21 but the seasonal events have nudged me all the way to 25 and about 5m credits (i spent a bit on some new cars i'd been saving for)

So yeah ... i can see some people being upset that they went easy but for someone like me who can only snag a couple of hours play on weekends if i'm lucky it's made a real difference to me and opened up the game...

Now have the whole of extreme open to me and money to get cars to do them with.

Polyphony can't win really ... they get accused of making it too much of a grind and criticised and then slammed again when they give us a bonus of cash and xp for making it too easy...

But now we don't know the limits because there's no "Typical AI" option.

I think they're designed to be possible with a stock car with better tyres, the same as the others, except now you can tune them to make up for any deficit in your ability. The only reason people would complain is because their pride for completing the events would be hurt by other, less able, gamers being able to get an unfair advantage to complete it too, but, frankly, those people are the only ones who would care about that.

It's already been said in this thread but it needs to be said many more times. PD cannot win when it comes to the difficulty of the races. Some less skilled players are thrilled with the ability to overpower these races to help them advance through the levels, and some skilled players will want much more of a challenge.

I am in the middle, and while I really enjoyed the challenge of the first set of seaonal races, which I was able to gold every one of before the tuning restrictions were removed, the second set was a little beyond my abilities. Golded two but the other 3 I just couldn't get higher than silver, so I was happy when the restrictions were removed and I proceeded to give myself a slight HP boost to make it a little easier for me to accomplish.

I also find it endlessly hilarious how many people are going crazy over the fact that they put one set of what are essentially freebies, and instantly declare "SEASONAL EVENTS OFFICIALLY RUINED" and blah blah bah. People are simply looking for things to bitch about, that has been plainly obvious since launch day. I am very curious to see what the next round of events will be like come the 11th or 12th (can't remember), if they are simply another set of freebies I will be a bit disappointed yes, but they will also continue to get me to buy some very interesting cars I wouldn't have bought on my own, advance my level, and give me a bunch of credits to do with what I will.

end

I think what PD should do is have the seasonals hard but easy every 3 weeks.

It was just nice to have something that was more competitive, sure maybe its nice to have some events a little easier and be able to use the Toyota Camry in the NASCAR event, but i thought it was great so people could share their tunes and get to know how changine the handling of the car via suspension instead of tyres. They could hae atleast kept tyres restricted. Now its just easy money for low levels. A-Spec is too easy in one respect and i thought seasonal events were a nice balance, especially given the huge cash reward.

Sure they can, they actually already did before in previous GTs... you set a limit and pay out a bonus for meeting the limit. Let people tune ove the limit but pay out less. It's perfectly reasonable, makes sense and encourages you to get better.

Saying PD can't win is just making up an excuse for the poor method currently implimented.

Simple... don´t overpower them!

Easier said than done.

Remember just powering a car up to what is winnable for you only means you never improve, you just handicap the game until it meets your skill level. Which is fine if that's what you like, but it's not at all the same thin as restrictions so don't try to say it like it's a solution to missing restrictions.

Also bear in mind how tedious it is to try and figure out what exactly is "overpowered". May of the previous seasonal races you would THINK you couldn't do unless you powered your car up some more... but in truth they were completely doable.

By the theory of "just don't overpower your car" almost everyone would have overpowered the seasonal challenges because after a dozen tries they hadn't won yet so would assume the car needs to be more powerful.

I honestly believe anyone who believes "just don't overpower your car" works just doens't have the skill level (no offense) to realize how unreasonable that statement is...

Don't overpower your car = make the game just easy enough for you

Restrictions set = you must become better to beat the restrictions

See my sig.

I don't care about the post before mine. Quit being lazy and show some self control.

Quit being lazy and go spend the hours it takes to figure out what the lowest winnable restriction is for a race through trial and error... somehow I doubt you would put your money where your mouth is... more likely you will continue to feel smart while being wrong.

I'm not the one that can't figure out what the best tune for myself is.

But you are the one who can't understand the difference between best tune for yourself vs most challenging but winnable tune despite having it explained to you in terms a third grader could grasp (no offense if you are indeed 2nd grade or lower).

"Hey the NBA took away the 3 point line!"

SideShow Bob "Just start at half court and keep moving forward a few inches each time you feel it's too hard"

"That's not the same thing at all"

SideShow Bob "You're just lazy".

:D

Except the best tune for myself is the most challenging.

Really? So you think your trial and error method would have arrived at a more challenging restriction than the Focus challenge?

The hole you're digging... it's getting deeper. ;)

The lasts guy wouldn't who liked to talk the talk wouldn't walk the walk... will you be different?

Offer still stands - if your idea really works and you think I am lazy, surely you would like to get $250 for meerly not being lazy...

Pony up?

I'll even make it easier for you - you just take the season 3 events, you setup restrictions for each race - the restrcitions has to result in a race hard enough that no one can do better than 5 seconds ahead of first after 2 weeks of trying but still doable.

What do you think?

I'm happy with the the way the seasonal events are set up. I control myself and test. You're the one pacing and wringing their hands in frustration.
