Allow me to call lexus on a dumb gimmick that doesn't work.

I'll buy an M5, thank you.

I'd buy Lotus Omega and spend the rest to other nice cars, getting an apartment etc instead.

I always wondered how well that worked.

For some reason that is about how I pictured it.

Indeed a dumb gadget, but the car? It looks stunning! I don't know why Toyota never made something like this, this looks better then the BMW 7, definitly 👍

I like how someone made a sarcastic comment about Japanese engineering, when Japan is basically the most technologically advanced country in the world. Sure it doesn't work great, but you have to start somewhere.(but I still think it's a pointless feature. If you can't park, what the hell are you doing behind the wheel?)

The proper method for parking a Lexus:
1)Pull up to the storefront
2)Flag down the valet

That wasn't automobile, they were too unprofessional. Did those idiots realize that you have to regulate the speed yourself?

:dunce:

yes but the car would stop moving, and as soon as they applied throttle the auto parking procedure was aborted. aside from a funny vid the only thing this means to me is that (thankfully) we are far from cars that will (completely) drive themselves.

That's not the impression I got from the video. Any input by the driver overrides and aborts the auto-park.

How much does this feature cost again?

You regulate the speed by lifting off the brake.

As soon as you hit the throttle, then it aborts. But if you are too much of a grade to move without throttle, then you're screwed.

Actually, by the looks of it, you are screwed no matter where you are, unless you get the opportunity to park between some champagne glass pyramids in a studio somewhere.

Just shows this generations laziness these days, it's gotten so bad we can't even park our own Lexus! WTF?!?!?

Is it just me who questions the operational abilities of these chimps(darn, I just offended chimps), I mean, guys?

I've seen few other videos of this new(to the U.S.) gadget in demonstration and it seems to work a lot smoother. Maybe they had rocket scientists from NASA driving those, I don't know. But guys in this video reminded me of kids who ends up making a cowboy & donkey out of the lego pieces that was supposed to be a tie fighter from Star Wars.

I also agree with the earlier comment about how pointless this feature is. If you can't park your vehicle without the aid from these things, you probably should stick to mopeds.

So true........ 💡

"Yeah, I'll park the Lexus for ya" *a6m5 drives off*

Car is really nice.

In Toyota's defense, Lexi are usually bought mostly by old people, so perhaps it is safer in some cases to let machines drive for them.

I can't wait for the first old person to hit another car in a parking lot, and try to get Lexus to pay for the repairs due to a "manufacturers defect" in the Park Assist feature.

It's a good thing I don't perform body and paint repair claims.

Bah, they rarely even use the Navigation systems in their car. They don't believe in radio pre-sets, either. But they at least try to read the manual, unlike many of the younger clientele who just want us to teach them lessons every darn time they come in to our shop.

Luckily I learned how to park my car. This is the most retarded feature on a car ever. I can park my 4000lb Caddy perfectly with no help from anyone or any automated system.

 Agreed. I wonder if it would've seriously hit the minivan. Perhaps it would've stopped and straightened out again. Who knows.

This is a pretty cool video. I'm not sure if it's exactly like the one found in the LS.

For many of us, it would be so much easier to just park the damn car yourself. :dopey:

Although, the old people the car is marketed for would have no hope in hell of working that parking system out.

Many marriages will end with this new feature! Imagine a man sitting in the passanger seat watching his wife trying to use that feature. She couldn't park before and now it will be even worse!
