SFGTP2 - Los Dos!

Assuming you haven't got any prior convictions for rape / murder / GBH, have no psychotic tendencies, and aren't prone to shooting up heroin or snorting cocaine every hour, I don't see any reason why you couldn't come!
It's basically a bunch of guys hanging out in my garage and racing GT4 for 2 solid days.

If you could let us know a little about you (or add some details to your profile) that'd be great as well. If you're under 18, I'd make sure your parents are OK with the idea too. (Show them the results and photos thread from SFGTP1!) Where would you be coming from?

hahaha! Im a senior in High School and live about 5 hours north of SF in Mt. Shasta. Ever been? My brother (the one who's in SF) took me to my first champ car race when i was 6 and I saw Zanardi do donuts and since then i've always loved racing! My brothers and I have played through every GT out there and we just absolutely love the game... And i think my only psychotic tendency is to pull off ridiculously fast lap times at seca every once and a while! Im also a aspiring kart racer and had my first podium on saturday night! Second place and its only my 4th club race so im feeling pretty good! What types of races do you guys do and wheres this showdown take place?

Well I guess I can't come then.:dopey:

I think it will've been too late by the time the thread goes up. ;)

People who claim they're from Nor Cal have no idea, do they?

exactly;)

Sounds like a blast! I'd love to come but i don't know if i can because im missing school the week before to go do a campus tour of Cal Poly then head out to Seca for ALMS!!! We'll see...

No, but it's high on the list of places to go and see!
Maybe a long weekend trip up there in the Porsche should do it, once the weather cools off a little!

The meeting is the weekend of October 27th & 28th, so you'd not have to worry about missing any school if you leave Friday night, and return Sunday night! :)

If you're ever up in mt. shasta in the porsche, check out Old McCloud road! nice and curvy and absolutely nothing up there! I'd love to come! I'll make sure my brother wont be out of town and of course make sure the parents are down with it but yeah... sounds sweet!

Excellent! Thanks for the recommendation, I'll be certain to check that out when we eventually get up there!

Have put you on the "maybe" list in post #1 for the time being! 👍
In the meantime, if you haven't already, you may want to have a look at the Weekly Race Series Forum!

I really do appreciate the hospitality Nick, Becky and I both do :). I will bring my wheel, but can't bring anything to set it up with, hopefully u can arrange something 💡 My easy folding desk is too big to travel down there cause I'm flyin' down there wOOt! I don't know why I'm so excited to fly, I guess cause I won't have to drive, lol.

Smallhorses, i forgot to tell you about an even better road... you can forget Old McCloud!!! Its Everitt Memorial Highway... and i just remembered it today because it starts in front of the high school and today was my first day back :( .... The nicest road in town!! But yeah, as far as SFGTP2 goes, im still talking with my parents and not sure if i'll be able to come yet but i'll keep you posted!

I should probably figure out how to rig up my DFP as well. That thing is not a particularly good lap dog :boggled:

Awwww, come on! It'd only be 650 miles for you. I figure that the process of flying would only save me 4 hours or so, and renting a car would drive (haha) the cost of the trip through the roof. Besides, I've been itching to use that MP3 jack in my center console :D.

Awesome, I don't race as well with my wheel yet, but if someone wants to use it fine w/me. I did find a converter box thingy that will let me go from my ps2's cra cables to my vga monitor, all i need now are some cheap $10 pair of speakers and to test it all out here. So short of a desk I should be all set (which sounds like that may be resolved too...) :D

My setup hath been confirmed :D

Hello again.

I'm very happy to say I have my ticket booked (although you know the line of work I'm in and that my schedule can get crazy on a moments notice) But you can put me down as a definate please :) I'll be bringing a PS2, DF Pro and Network adapter. Let me know if there is anything else I can bring.

Can I still trade you beer for a place to sleep :)

@ Kylehnat, nice setup!! I just hope your headphones don't come unplugged from that amp mid-race! :scared: That'd get the neighbours upset, especially if we're driving Shelby Cobras at the time!
Just noticed your new usertitle, Sodium Borohydride huh? Nasty reducing agent as I recall? Been about 10 years since I did any real chemistry, but that's what my qualifications were in!

@ DaveS1138 Good to see you in here! Don't forget to check out the photos from SFGTP1! ;) Will add your name to the definites list, and I'm going to update the equipment list now too, as ceiling_fan suggested a while ago! 2 Davids. It'll be just like the UK events, except neither of you is Scottish or as tall as daan!

I think I may have to cap the number of attendees before the Smallhorseses stable gets too overcrowded though! Didn't expect to get so much interest so soon!!! Doubt I'd have time to organise a suitable alternative venue with more room in time, being as I'll be in UK for 2 weeks in September. 👍
Will have to keep it in mind for SFGTP3, if it does become possible to link 16 PS3s together, and folks actually want to come and socialise away from GT5:Prologue on-line!!! :P

Nah. It's only 15 amps. It was enough to annoy my dorm mates in college, though :D. I'll leave the 65 watt amp at home :sly:.

I make white powder for a living--mostly used in the drug industry ;).

Oh, you just had to show a picture of the garage full of yummy Porsche and Mazda goodness, didn't you! :D

Well, yeah! :P Just got the re-covered Targa top back today! :)

Will still be jealous when we see the pictures of the monstrous quad-LAN setup in the marquee at UKGTP VIII though!

Titanium Dioxide? It's the filler in most pills on the market? Am I close?

NaBH4 is used as a reducing agent in pharmaceutical manufacture, but it does not end up in the drug itself (thankfully). If I could get some crackhead to snort it, I'd be laughing quite hard...and then be charged with murder. This is pretty much the only product we make at the chemical plant where I work. It's a cute, quaint little plant :). Not like those massive oil refineries in Texas and Louisiana.

The problem is, whenever I tell people we make a white powder that's used in the pharmaceutical industry, they think I'm a drug dealer.

I'm done now. *wakes up everyone else reading this thread*

Oh! I misunderstood! :dunce:
Thought you used NaBH4 in your process to make something else! That's why I guessed TiO2. Although thinking about it, how you'd oxidise Ti with a reducing agent I'm not sure?!!!! :boggled: Just shows how much real chemistry I've forgotten since I've been a Mass Spectrometrist!!!
Pretty cool that you're actually making it though!
Wow! This thread has gotten pretty scientific all of a sudden!
Back to mind-killing video games then! :P

Updated post 1 with the equipment list thus far! 👍👍👍👍
Looks like we'll easily have enough stuff to make a full 6-way LAN with DS2 & DFP available at each station and table space to give secure mounting (thanks juana b. 👍), maybe even with a monitor station, and have some backups too. :)
The only thing I can see we may be short of at the moment is extension cables & 6-way power strips, so bring 'em if you've got 'em!
Also Don't forget headphones!!!

I've got an easily accessible powerstrip I can bring, plus a couple more if we're really desperate (I'd rather not unplug the others, but if I'm not here to watch TV, it doesn't really matter :P).

Work has been a MOTHERF*&#ER, to put it kindly. I have worked OVER 50 HOURS OF OVERTIME IN THE LAST 3 DAYS, and had school one of those nights. If I had a dog, I wouldn't even have the energy to come home and kick it.
I just checked this thread and wow, this party is getting big. Good thing Kyle is bringing the drugs.
Nick, let me know if we need another table.

Thanks for looking into tables again Josh!
I think we'll definitely need a secondary one.
Ray's setup stands alone, mine too, but we'll need room for 4 more DFP setups.
2 fitted comfortably on the table that is now in my garage from last time, but if you could secure the services of the 2nd table from last time too, that'll allow another 2 setups to be arranged, and a full-on 6-way LAN will ensue!!! :D
Just don't work yourself to death in the meantime!

If I had a dog, I wouldn't even have the energy to come home and kick it.
Just spit on it then! Worked for Josey Wales!!!

Still haven't had chance to start event testing yet, was down in LAla land for some of last week, so Sarthe I 24hr has only progressed a few hours. Into hour 12 now, almost halfway!
