Here's another unpopular opinion: Tears For Fears are an excellent pop band, especially The Hurting and their older stuff.

Head Over Heels is definitely in my top 5 favorite 80's songs.

Talentless
I'ver heard that float on song a few times, and we agree, Modest Mouse is good.

yeah some other good tracks are "Dance Hall" "satin in a Coffin" but there are way more good songs on the new album.

  • The only pieces of music that make the hair on my arms stand up out of pure appreciation are Puccini's O Mio Babbino Caro and Delibes Dôme Epais.
  • Queen produced some most sing-a-longy songs ever.
  • Vitalogy and Binaural were Pearl Jams best albums.
  • Nickelback, Blue and Jessica Simpson can go jump in an oil drum.
  • Hoobastank's The Reason is the worst song to have been produced in the last 10 years.
  • Fleetwood Mac is under-rated.
  • Vannesa Mae is over-rated.

"Bis-me-lach"

Hoobastank has to be the weirdest/worst band name ever. Hoobastank hoobastinks.

Yeah, Hoobastank sucks, I heard of their songs (don't know which and don't care anyways) on the radio, it was just horrible

I could not care less about Emo.

The real punk music is dead long ago.

Metal bands that have soft singing are oddly alluring to me, but it makes want to listen to more harsher and louder metal bands than soft ones.

Any form of Nu-metal is not metal at all. Especially Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit :yuck: 👎

Electronica is not boring, it just wants me to get in the groove when I feel like it.

Rap music can be quite annoying but old school rappers are quite acceptable.

Added note on rap music, there has to be authentic rappers than ones that cannot, like 50 Cent. He cannot rap.

How about:

Emo will die in about 5 months. Wait and see.
Not unless the generation of teenagers who can't make up their own mind dies in 5 months too...but I can't see that happening.

Really? Because it's a fad. Remember how popular Jackass was? That died out quickly when MTV went over the top with it. How about Eminem? When he first came out he was the big badass because he said bad stuff about his mother. Wow. He's now one of the most hated people I know. Emo is starting to go over the top, so that will eventually become a passing fad.

Oooh. I got a couple more to add.

I don't get whats so freakin great about They Might Be Giants and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs They just seem like some repeat of Weezer. Some nerd/punk band that I don't see as good.

I saw a preformance on Late Night with Conan O'brien last night with They Might Be Giants, and they we're ok...I just didnt find that they were this great band in the past 10 years.

Oh god, Sage and Duke are going to tear me limb-from-limb once they see this. ;)

  • I listen to everything if it doesn't suck. One minute I'll listen to the Rolling Stones, the next minute, Notorious B.I.G. Metallica to John Mayer, AC/DC to Beastie Boys. As long as music is good, I like it.
  • I think that a lot of today's rappers have good beats and a pretty good rhythm, it's just the things they rap about which suck. For some reason, they're convinced that slapping girls around and loving Jesus are what sells these days, and the brain-dead MTV addicts take it all in.
  • Punk is dead. I don't care what you say, you cannot bring back the Ramones and the Sex Pistols or the Clash. You can't. Good Charlotte is not punk. Simple Plan is not punk. They're boy bands in disguise. There are some bands that still live by the punk rules, and aren't that bad, but they're still not real punk.
  • Punk is not a style of music, it's a style of life. Get it right. People are convinced that if songs have 2-3 notes, fast drums, and a whiny lead singer, it's punk. No! It's not! It's what they're singing about, not how they sing about it. S.O.A.D. is thrash punk, no matter what you say. They sing about unpopular (or really popular, considering how you look at) and play it with a harder style.
  • David Bowie was revolutionary. Said and done, one of the greatest musicians of all time.
  • Linkin Park is, was, and always will be horrible.
  • Metallica sucks. I love them, but they suck. I'm sorry Silverzone, but the black album was their last good album.
  • Justin Timberlake is talented. Yeah, I said it, he is. I don't listen to pop, but he's good at.
  • I love New Age and any kind of 80's music. I can't help it, I love it.

Decided to just go off.

WHY, YOU LITTLE...
:grumpy:
You DARE to call the Twin Quasars Of Rock 'a repeat of Weezer' - Weezer, if anything, is a repeat of TMBG, since the guys from Weezer were still playing with Transformers in their Underoos when John and John recorded their first album in 1985/6.

I don't know; you either get them, or you don't. If you don't enjoy the wordplay or don't find the tunes catchy, you won't like them - no big deal.

They put on a heckofa live show, though. They're a blast in concert.

Emo as a genre has been around for years, I think since sometime mid 80's I can't see it dying out just because it's become faddy and popular. Well the crappy cliched generalisation of emo anyway.

Exaclty what I mean. Like punk today is not real punk, emo today is not real emo. I'm talking about todays emo, and you know I was.

Well there are still good, punk and emo bands around. Just don't expect to see them becoming insanely popular. Faddy crap sells, most (I say most because there are some big names that do sell well on their music alone) good music you have to look for.

Well, I don't like Punk or Emo anyway.

Off Topic: Neon, how come you're never on GTA forum? That's your forum ain't it? Because that needs a fair few threads locked on there: alot of pointless crap, dupe posting and people bringing up threads from like 3 years ago "just for the fun of it".

Ok, to start with:
- Rap, Hip hop, and Pop all suck. Most of the rhythms suck, the lyrics (well, at least the ones you can understand) suck, and most of all, the lifestyle sucks.
- Led Zeppelin is a great band, but , Stairway to Heaven sucks. It is overplayed and, quite frankly, overrated.
- There weren't too many good bands to come out of the 80's. S.R.V. & Double Trouble was the best of the 80's, but then SRV died in the 'copter crash.
- New rock just seems too generic, they all sound the same.
- The BEST music (or the majority of it) was made between 1968 and 1980. There are, of course, exeptions.

👍 I agree 👍
I should also add the 1990's. yeah, 80's and 90's

I suppose you could agree that the best music was made during that era (60's-70's) without actually liking it. I'm not a huge fan of the 60's, but I know some of the music back then was probably some of the most important to date.

I agree with Shannon to some extent. Also, Gtavcfan highlighted what he would agree with, or say. He basically said:

There. Sorry, mini-arguments like that frustrate me.

For some reason I find the Lighthouse family very relaxing.
