Should Australian V8 Supercar tracks (eg Bathurst) be included in GT4?

Mate of mine in Melb has his birthday around this time.

Used to watch the top 10 on Sat arvo - then bbq, big piss up. Then watch race hung over on Sunday.

Pace cars piss me off though - bloody artificial close finishes...

Dunno about other tracks - they're all a bit mickey mouse (esp. Canberra).

Albert Park - okay, but no chance of a GP circuit in the GT series
Sandown - maybe, the quick kink at the Dandenong Rd side of the circuit is fun (did it in my old Corolla at about 150 kmh!)
Winton - dun, no chance
Eastern Creek-other than one decent fast corner, 2nd and 3rd gear crap
Adelaide - bunch of slow corners, and too narrow. Chicane at the end of pit straight good though...
Canberra - yuk
Oran Park - maybe. Too short. Down hill into left hander where they brush the wall on exit is a beauty.
Queensland Raceway - could it be any flatter?!?
Wanneroo - couple of good corners

and so on...

It would be better to have some tracks from o/s, if they're going to put real tracks in...
- Road America
- Mt Fuji
- Mugello
- Watkins Glen
to name just a few..

TOTALLY agree with you on the safety car - that thing's the reason I stopped following the Indycar really closely.

They go on about how close the finishes have been since the V8's came in (and given the parity battles, you'd certainly hope it would be close!) but it's because of the safety car.

How else do you think Brad Jones got to 2nd from 22nd on the grid?

Still, good to see Skaifey get up - I was hoping Brighty'd get up. Oh well.

Dunno about the roof treatment on the Tickford Ford, but I can't say I took a close look last year. If they included the caravan sponsorship I guess they probably got the roof right.

Er - have you actually been to that part of the circuit? You'd be flat out standing up in the wet, let alone trying to drag 1400kg of Falcon jammed under tyres and a conveyer belt up a steep hill.

Knowing Larry that's probably what he said - fair assessment, though, considering Ambrose had done it earlier in the day! The guy won a British Formula Ford championship, ran F1 and countless years in Aussie tintops - should really know better!

Why would you turbo a motor with a sub 6000 redline? Wouldn't you supercharge it (like the factory?).

Who'd he get the kit through? Did he get it dynoed?

Not a big fan of turbcharged motors - ruins the response.

Geez, for the amount of money he's probably spent he could have bought a nice Liberty B4 - he might have something he could drive when it's wet.

I must admit I don't get the whole customisation thing - I know guys want individual cars, but does it have to be a WRX (or fill in Japanese/Korean small car here) lowered to a bee's dick off the deck with an exhaust you can fit your fist through that wakes me at 3 am as it blats past my house, and a body kit that can only be safely viewed on an empty stomach?!?

And the way these guys drive, they really shouldn't be driving something that draws attention to themselves.

Must admit I'm a bit of a fan of the Q-Car concept - quiet, efficient, unobtrusive - deadly.

Definitely, it should include the Bathurst 1000 as an endurance race, limited to touring cars. Bring back the Alfa Romeo 155, Vauxhall Vectra, Ford Mondeo, Renault Laguna, and add the Sierra RS500 Cosworth and have a touring car battle!!!

I still keep an eye on the series, but a couple of years ago, don't recall when, in three road track events in a row they pulled out the pace-car for "surface deterioration", right after the leader got out by about 30 seconds - it was really blatant.

I think that and the dreadful Mike Krosnoff accident in 96, plus Villenueve moving over to F1 meant I sort of just lost interest in the series. That and losing the Indy 500 - and I refuse to follow the Irrelevant Racing League.

Still, Honda pulling out's going to hurt them, especially with Ford and Toyota focusing more on F1. I think you might see CART and the IRL merge in the next couple of years. Geez, they're halfway there with the CART engine changes...

No, actually we don't. And there are lots of things GT3 is missing. I could go for some completely naked women walking across the track with lap count cards (like boxing's "card girls" that show the rounds, only ... naked (: ), but I also would like more realistic things like more cars on the track, or a bigger car selection.

Please enlighten us. WHAT, pray tell, is the other thing GT3 is lacking?
