Should I buy the PS2 GT4 Racing Pack??

Play-asia.com has it for 324 shipped, which ironically is exactly what i paid for my PS2 way back in october 2000. GT4 would probably be the only game that i will have for this Japanese PS2....what do you guys think??

If I had $324 for the PS2, maybe...... I just sold my PS2(U.S.), which was an earlier model that came bundled with GT3, so I can buy the new PSTwo(slim model) with progressive scan and network built in. Meanwhile, I'm borrowing my brothers PSTwo until the GT4 comes out. Hopefully, Sony will come up with cool GT4/PSTwo Bundle!

I have an old North american PS2. I stood in line for it at the Sony store here in NYC about 6 months after it first came out in this country. I've used swap discs for years to play GT imports but between getting sick of it and new DVD9s I decided to jsut go for the NTSC-J PS2. I actually own more NTSC-J games than NTSC ones (4 to 1) and ONLY play the GT series so it made sense for me.

I am not planning on buying the US release of GT4 unless or until there is an online component and my NTSC-J PS2, due to it's region, won't let me play online from the USA....

yup i think it's been pretty much confirmed that as long as the chip is specced to play DVD9's it will play GT4. I will be able to confirm that in a few days when my GT4 comes.. still in the mail somewhere.. i haven't heard anything about protection on this forum.

Not that I know of. I haven't received my GT4 racing pack yet but as far as I know it is just one box with a PS2 and a copy of Gt4 in it, nothing "special". The Ps2 is black like a normal one and I don't think it has an GT logos on it. You do save a little bit of money with the racing pack...over buying a japanese PS2 and japanese copy of GT4.

I just noticed they raised the price a bit from what I order. it comes out the the same for the pack as it does for the Japanese PS2 and Japanese copy of GT4.

The Asian Japanese NTSC-J and Japanese NTSC-J are the same game (other than the cover art). The difference is that Play-asia imports the Japanese one ($69 USD) from Japan to Hong-Kong, pushing the price up a bit. The Asian one is local to HK, thus no added cost.

I got the racing pack from Play-Asia. You also get the 200+ page reference guide(not the Bible), GT stickers, and the game box is unique. Has the negative image of the Ford GT and only says 'The drive of your life' on the front. Back is different too, just a picture of a steering wheel.
