A problem I've started seeing more and more is players with red (1 bar) connections in Sport Mode races who bounce and zig zag all over the track in every race, unintentionally wrecking everyone and causing havoc in every event they enter. Every Sport Mode I've entered in the last month have had at least 1 person with a terrible internet connection that just ends up ruining the race.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

Should these drivers with bad internets be immediately disconnected from Sport Mode or not?

There needs to be a more strict cut off before the game disconnects.

But what do you mean from banned? Do you mean 'if someone is zig-zagging in sport mode, ban them from that game mode?'

because if so, then no. Because what if someone just has bad internet for one race, or one day, due to things out of their control. It shouldn't be a ban. The game should just be disconnecting these people if their ping is above a certain limit for a certain amount of time.

Maybe banned is a strong word, what I mean is if the game detects that you have a really bad internet connection (1 red bar in game) then you should get a notice saying something like "Your current internet connection cannot support multiplayer racing. You have been disconnected"

Then that is fine and exactly what I would want. I'd still want those players to be able to attempt to race again as many will attempt to fix their connections.

If somebodys ping is going too high then they need disconnecting because it affects other peoples races not their own, Same happens with Rocket "Lag" League and its beyond annoying it makes the game less than playable in a fun or even competitive capacity, If you can't afford a decent internet connection you shouldn't be wasting money on online only games.

Disconnection, Yes. Banning a big fat NO.

Nobody has the right to be banned because of an awful internet connection. At times lag will happen. People with a bad ping should be disconnected.

Well my connection is not that good but i have no problem what so ever playing Battlefield 1! I think sony is responsible to make their servers better so they can balance the uneven connection issue & make it smoother!

I think Battlefield 1 has this infamous thing called lag compensation making bad connection players more competitive. 9/10 of Bad company's, Hardline's and 4's servers have constant delay making it hardly enjoyable. Tried 10 & 100mb/s and 2 different internet providers... :/

banned? no. disconnected from the lobby? oh yeah.
worst case I ever had was when a guy with bad connecting was in front of me on the grid, I was still in the countdown to start while the cars behind me allready started.

I voted yes but i'd go one step further. Players with said connections (1 bar, minimum speed connections) shouldn't be allowed to access PlayStation Network at all...

Sony specifically mentions broadband internet is required for online gaming, people who dont have a broadband connection should not be able to connect to PSN, imo.

Into the rabbit hole we go...
I already spent my money on so much popcorn on other threads so I've got rice :dopey:

Quite a week! Always entertaining reading threads like this!
For example, not only people think that people who can’t afford good internet connection shouldn’t play with them, they think they shouldn’t access PSN! Like they are gonna spread their viruses and make their internet bad too! I don’t even know what to say, so I’ll just try really hard not to argue in this one. I fear my profile can’t survive 2 more months if I keep posting in threads like this.

Edit:
I don’t agree with the auto disconnect thing, but I understand that it affects other people. The PSN ban though... wow!

And that's why I always always have popcorn or rice! So that my fingers are too dirty for me to touch my phone and type in anything that involves *munches through rice*

If people have all the gear. Why shouldn't they be allowed to use it? If some people can't use psn, then nobody should use psn imo.

I have a 100 meg fibre line but sometimes I get a 3 bar connection simply because Sony decides India should connect to EU region. Really it would be better for me if my country was part of Asia. By your definition I shouldnt be able to access PSN because of Sony's **** policies. Smh.

As player who have bad connection (spike or data loss) at certain hours I'd prefer they ghosted, you doesn't know how pain they're just trying race with that. Usually you'll be getting hit by flying car from back and you get 2-5 seconds penalty cause of that.

Yes and no. There are obviously players who alter their network signal. They should. But then the others who can only get 1-3 bars shouldn't be banned because they are still buying the hardware, the game and paying for ps plus.

Are you saying people can cause "lagging" intentionally? I would be nice if Sony could do something about laggers, it can be extremely difficult to drive behind a car bouncing all over the screen much less trying to pass one without a collision, you never really know where a lagger will pop up.

That's my point exactly. Some of us have very good internet connections yet once in awhile when I'm racing online my connection goes from all green down to 3 bars and even 1 red bar. It doesn't seem to effect me or anyone else I'm racing around.
I also hosted a 1.5 hour endurance race with a full lobby and nobody was having lag issues.
So when my bars drop to yellow or red your not going to convince me that it's coming from my end of the connection.
