So I was inputting a couple of cars into the online garage as I was curious as to what cars where considered rare / common ... referring to such cars as the 20,000,000 Cr. cars and the X1 etc ... Cars that I am sure PD themselves expected to be rare. The rarity values go from 1 (common) to 10 (rare), here is what I found:

Daihatsu Copen Detachable Top - Rarity value 8
Chaparral 2J Race Car - Rarity value 2

Daihatsu Cirion CX 4WD - Rarity value 10
Ferrari 330 P4 Race Car - Rarity value 2

Daihatsu Sirion X4 - Rarity value 9
Ford Mark IV Race Car - Rarity value 2

Mazda Eunos Roadster VR Limited - Rarity value 10
Lamborghini Miura P400 - Rarity value 2

Mitsubishi 3000GT SL - Rarity Value 10
Red Bull X2010 (Prototype & Vettle) - Rarity Value 2

Toyota Aristo 3.0V - Rarity value 10
Jaguar XJ-13 - Rarity value 2

So you see, cars that cost 13million+ are more common than cars that cost less than 30,000!

Anyone else think that the ability to gift cars should be removed?

I have these 3!
Daihatsu Cirion CX 4WD
Daihatsu Sirion X4
Daihatsu Copen Detachable Top

I think the mygranturismo isn't a very good representation because there are only like 5000 or 6000 people who have signed upto it.

The majority of GT5 gamers don't have these 20 million cars.

I just don't see why it really matters if any car is more rare than another. The ability to gift cars gives us the opportunity to trade with other players and get the cars we can't find in the used lot.

How many people would spend all there money on cars under 200k when you can grind for the really good ones?

You've missed my point completely.

It's a bit late now.. Besides, a big reason that 13+ million cred cars are more common is because people actually want those cars. The cars you've listed aren't exactly desirable to most folks are they? It's hardly surprising they're not in many garages.

And you can edit your own title :) Hit edit and go advanced.

My 787b stealth car is rated 8, whereas three of the Lexus sc430 Super gt's are rated 10 when they can be bought at any time. Think about it.

I dont think gifting should be removed, if it was removed I probably wouldnt play as much. I think its fun to collect the cars and trade them with others.
I agree with that website being inaccurate with the rarity of vehicles because if you can buy it from the dealership, how rare is it really you know?

It's not the ability to gift a car that is the problem.
Should I have the X1 (which I dont), and have say 10people/friends on my list who dont have the car, IF I gift it to one of the guys, that is still only 1/10 who has the car. Should that guy do a few races and gift it to another of the ten, it is still 1/10 that has that car.

The issue (as we all know) is the back up game data issue. Where people would Gift the car, then copy over an old save game, resulting in 2/10 people having that car.

That's the real issue, and possibly why the back up game data wasn't enabled at first, and also why it's limited to 1 gift a day.
Gifting is not an issue.

Rare means it's not in most people's garage means not desirable (aka. no one wants to collect them).

Do you know many Daihatsu Sirion collector's out there? Ask yourself the same question. Even if a Daihatsu Sirion X4 is premium, will you buy it? Then you just answered your own dilemma.

Would you rather collect a 2J, 330 P4, Mark IV? Or X4? Everyone wants an X1 in their garage. Most people delete the X4 even if you give it to them.

I agree, sort of. The X2010's should have never of been allowed to be gifted, period, as well as the 3 1967 history 20m credit cars.

Just put rules on which cars can and can't be figted, that would be fine with me.

if i tried to collect all the cars on my list without trades... i would probably run out of patience after the first one... meanwhile i have alot of junk that i dont need that other people may want... gifting/trading is a good way of refining your garage to cut the crap you dont need and get the stuff you do

I think it's too little too late and the damage is already done. A person who has never played GT5 before can go out tonight, buy the game, be level zero A-spec and B-spec and have a fleet of X-2010's before they even enter their first race. Maybe in GT 6 they will find a better way of doing this.

I'm collecting all the cars so I am a Daihatsu Sirios X4 collector indirectly! :P

Main thing I'm saying is that in GT3 (which was the last GT I played before GT5) managed very well without having an option to gift ... So surely we could live without it?

That's actually disgusting. Gifting cars is a good idea because it brings together the online community, but seriously, something needs to be done to make it more fair.

Oh and if you edit the OP the option for changing the title is there (I think)

Some would wonder why you'd buy the game, if you only had the effort to buy one car?

Me too. And I have almost all the cars in the game. But how many or "us" are out there?

so the rarity level is based on who has it in their garages? makes sense now, i thought the rarity level was determined how often it shows up in the Used car dealership for purchase, I was wondering why some cars in the dealership (which everyone can buy from) have a higher rare value than those that pop up occasionally in the UCD.

What's "fair". Do you rather see someone trading an Daihatsu X4 for an X1 for free on here. Or do you rather see people paying for an X1 on eBay?

I can see where people are coming from if you're playing GT5 as a car collector. But not everyone is playing for that reason, so rarity isn't an issue with everyone. I play GT5 to drive and race cars that I'll probably never get to drive IRL. Therefore being able to trade for cars is a positive aspect of the game.

Im also not one of the people who haven't touched the game, and just traded for every car in my garage. Im at level 33 A-spec and 24 B-spec. We all know how hard it can be to find some cars in the used lot. So for those of us looking to drive the cars and not just collect them, we like the option to gift cars.

(Firstly could a mod please put a 'h' into sould in the title please)

I've been telling people the same thing...the cars ownership % as reflected at Granturismo.com has nothing to do with it's rarity, when rarity is measured by how often it shows up in the UCD....

For that info you need to access the UCD Database thread...for instance, the C5R Race car has only ben documented once...

You're going off of figures off of one website, which in reality has no credibility... I'm assuming a majority of people don't add EVERY single car in their garage, and there's also nothing stopping people from adding cars that aren't actually in their garage to their page.

A lot of these "rare" cars are rare to see listed on the website, doesn't actually mean they're rare in the game.

And I'm betting a minority of the entire GT5 community actually use the gift feature or dupes. You have to understand a good majority of people are casual gamers or gamers who don't use message boards.

Plus, why do you care what others do or how others play the game. It does not directly affect you or your gameplay experience... it might annoy you for whatever silly reason, but just get over it.

Documented once because there are huge gaps between those days. I play and I collect cars. I am at game day ~1500 and I can say I've seen every car at least 3-4 times, including the C5-R.

I have 800 standard cars in my garage. All but 20'ish of them are from trades.

Coreyvf I only pointed this out as I thought the figures where interesting ... Why can't people just look at the figures, comment on what the figures show (I completley agree they aren't the most accurate but what else can I go off?) and say they are at least interesting.

Why do people have to go on saying "why do you care what others do?" I don't for gods sake! I just wanted to discuss figures I found interesting!

Btw ... I am one of those casual gamers ... I just enjoy collecting cars atm for some strange reason?

You obviouly haven't visted lately...almost 10,000 cars and 1650 days documented with NO GAPS...

C5R now appears twice...

On GT3, you can download someone's game save with complete car collection on gamefaqs.com.

If PD completely unlock GT game save in the afternoon, I am sure the marketplace will die in that evening.

i got all the cars. with gifting. i've made some new friends.

and i've traded ANY car for the last 13 crappy cars i needed LOL

Not every game cycles the exact same cars at the exact time period ... It is random, so just because a couple of people haven't seen it in one thread doesn't mean that another person can't see it more than twice! Don't be so closed minded!

However, you are going off topic so please make your forthcoming topics more relevant or please refrain from posting further!

Yeh but if people choose to do that then what can you do? People can do that with GT5 right now aswell!
