Should the option to gift cars be removed? Figures from MyGranTurismo.net

It's not gifting, it's duping. I'm not sure how do you fix duping issue without killing the option for off-line savegame back-up.
I like the VIN idea, and I don't think it's a database problem. Synchronizing garage with online? What if online database system crashes?

The [Gran Turismo] world would be a better place if every car had a rarity of 1.

Really? Duping appears to be the lifeblood of the Marketplace. No duping - slow Marketplace.

Plus, I just think duping is a non-problem to begin with.
 
And marketplace matters because?
 
^Don't think so. It might be during a later stage of game life, but at the moment all those jerks with powerful cars they didn't earn are ruining online play for a lot of noobs, many of whom will give up on the game sooner and never make it onto GTP.

I just don't see why it really matters if any car is more rare than another. The ability to gift cars gives us the opportunity to trade with other players and get the cars we can't find in the used lot.

yea, This isn't real life where the value of a rare car goes up. I could care less if everyone had 20 X1

the X1 to me has no value at all because it is so damn common !!, in all seriousness more people want my mk1 golf gti than they do my X1's. There is nothing that can be done about duping without re-locking the back up function and I believe that it was taken off due to the game save not transferring to new slim ps3 consoles, cars like the X1 and the other "expensive" (10 million and over ) cars should be blocked from being sent as a gift in the same way stealth cars are. this would have preserved there value and kudos within the game. I genuinely believe Kaz and pd don't realize how big online gaming is in the western world and that is why the online parts of the game are so poorly thought out.
GTP as 180,000 members & GT5 has sold over 5 million copies so in truth its quite a small portion of players who come here. play the game & enjoy it in your own way.

I duped so many X1s it's not funny. Dupe, dupe and dupe again. Everyone should have an X1. Gonna start giving them out to people when I have all of them.
 
Nothing is "poorly thought out". If people with X2010s and no skills are causing problems in a room, the problem is the host not kicking them, not the gifting system that got the no-skiller that X2010. No car should be blocked from gifting except maybe the preorder cars, but since people are swapping codes now (I'll have to get in on that before they're all gone) even blocking those is kind of pointless anymore.
 
The main flaw you all are overlooking is that 95% of the people using mygt garage are "upscale" gamers per-say. So the everyday Joe who has a civic and 12 miata's isn't be displayed on this site.

And what about the people who are helping new players, and giving them free cars so they can enjoy online?

Exactly ! It's only hardcore fans using the site, of course the "rare" cars are showing up more than the plain and boring, the rarity value on that site should be renamed popularity as basicly that is all it is showing, not the true rarity value of the car.

How about removing the function of getting a car after golding an event? Then you get 10 rareness for things like 190E 2.5.

No way. I believe you should always get a car, whether it is good or bad / Rare or common, you should still always get a car.
 
Duping should be removed, not gifting. That's the problem.

Otherwise the idea to REALLY GIFT a car to friend is very nice (departing with it permenantly).
 
Well I am a duper and I would really like to continue to dupe. I think that if you do not like people that dupe then only trade with your friends.
 
I don't dupe, I don't even back up before I trade. I lose my car, I lose my car; she's not meant to be with me then. But I don't see any need on having a go at those who do these things, they're just being cautious & possessive on things they love, what's wrong with that.
But trying to clarify what should be rare in the market or not is the last thing to do. You are not the government nor the central bank/federal reserve, and even those guys could do very little about a market economy. It's the Goldman Sachtses doing the job, analogically those who have like 1,000 cars & able to dupe.

I dont know what it is about the duping vs non-duping thing... but those topics always get heated and just turn into name calling contests... Sad really...

It does, I have seen a lot of threads closed because some people just have to attack the people who dupe, so they start defending themselves and it just turns into an argument.:banghead:

Anyway on the subject of the "gift" option being removed, I say it has to stay as I have lent my GTP account tons of cars and I need to get them all back on my main account and with the 1 a day limit it's taking forever as it is.
 
Duping, gifting, etc. are not problems. I've said this before and I'll say it again, if you don't like duping, don't dupe! It really doesn't affect you all that much.

See there is another example of it ... I am not complaining about duping and I am not saying is does affect me, I just wanted to discuss which cars PD intended to be the rare ones and what the real rare cars have turned out to be thanks to the gifting option. Please stop trying to attack over and over.
 
Geez people, if you don't want to get your cars by trading, then just don't get them by trading.
But don't start bitching about others who do. What do you care about some other guy recieving cars without having to grind and grind and grind for it?
