I bought a piece of land so I can hopefully start my pole barn in the spring. Thankfully, I won't have to clear too many trees or do to much to level it out. But I'm going to use it as an excuse to finally buy a tractor.

That thing will last you a long time. I’m running that processor and a 5080 plus 64GB of RAM. I throw so much at the CPU and it still hasn’t reached its ceiling. The 50 series is great, but my 5080 does reach its limits: the 5090 is the perfect paring.

I bought two of these to get my monitors off the table and to free up space.

You have DEFINITELY been playing too much Cities Skylines!
Yeah, the RAM situation is pretty pathetic.
It seems to be AI causing the issue at the moment. The big boys are basically snapping up all the RAM they can find for their billions of new servers running AI that are definitely not causing even more global warming.

If anything, the price of RAM, CPUs and PCs is going to shoot up even more for the next couple of years...

Decided to dive back into an old hobby and pull my Nikon D5200 out. First thing was new batteries and an SD Card since the old ones were near as well dead.

Then decided to pick up a decent zoom lens with a refurbished 70-300mm lens.

And some things to go with it.

And I feel pretty happy with the results:

(I still need to get around to get a better editing software, these are with sorta rough edits for the moment.)

I enjoyed that enough that I pulled the trigger on ordering a new camera, and am currently waiting for this to arrive:

Did some shopping around with mirrorless options, but I do like 99.9% stills so the advantages to video capture wouldn't justify the loss of an optical viewfinder or the extra cost for me. The newer lens will work with the new camera, but I'll need to replace a couple of the smaller lenses since they're not full-frame. Really excited to get my hands on this thing.

Welcome back!

I decided to take advantage of Logitech’s money off offer on the Pro wheel and pedals with the free handbrake/shifter. I’m really looking forward to using it compared to the G29 i’ve had for the last few years. It’s like christmas has come early for me .

Excuse the mess, between work and studying and photography I got a lot going on. I'm actualy planning on building a second desk and floating shelves over the weekend.

For my son's 4th birthday, he loves planes and the Spitfire might be his favourite. This repro is signed by the artist and the pilots this painting is of (plus a fifth, I don't know who, I have yet to try to research them), and the frame was a lucky find in a charity shop - the last shop, coincidentally in the town the wing commander featured here passed away in, had one that was very slightly smaller than the print so we trimmed some of the margin off. Felt like sacrilege doing it but it was £15 and not in perfect condition anyway. It has etched glass which is a really nice touch but we need to mount the print properly so it's pressed against the glass for maximum sharpness, just wanted to get it done in time for his birthday.

Haven't stopped by here in a while I feel. I ran to Microcenter today to pick this up:

Not my picture but this is what I picked up. I'm eyeing a few other things as well so here's to my wallet — may it whimper in pain!

Oh boy.
I am sorry about this, but at first I was 100% sure that you had bought something that’s… ahum… generally used by some adults to fill up… certain cavities in said adults (or other adults) bodys for their… pleasure. And you proudly put it on display (which is totally fine but very… bold).

I mean, it is a looong package, and at first look it seemed like a window in the middle, and the reflection of the light makes it look like you have blurred it to hide the most graphic part and make it pass the AUP. The pink in the background fits the part so to speak.

And come on, it is named Gigantus!?! With an XXL on the package!?! What else could it be than a big, gigantic, veiny *****? 😬

I must admit I was a bit disappointed to find out that this was instead ”just” a mouse mat 😂

I will walk myself out

Some prints I ordered from artists I follow on Patreon showed up today. The first is Wicked and KPop Demon Hunters prints by Yamino. They’re 8.5x11. The others are three 3-print sets in 4x6 from Yoshi Yoshıtani. When I have a few extra dollars, I’ll buy some frames to put them in.
