I figured that after some early crashes in the race... stupid AI cuts me off at many inopportune places.
Yep. With the Nismo GT-R, I got a perfect score on the first try. 1.7m points.

The most difficult part in my opinion are the places where you have to brake hard before a corner. Most of the time I found around 4 cars doing the turn at the same time as me, so I ended up crashing into them, since I could barely see them because of the spray from their tires. Got a silver prize, sometime later or tomorrow I will try to gold this and the Ferrari's challenge. :)
After getting the Gold, I've set out to get Perfect. I've gotten about half way through 30 or so runs before losing the perfect score. I could have easily gotten it with patience, but I am going for it all or nothing. I usually get to the Rocket car before crapping out.

It is always interesting how and where the cars appear. No two runs are exactly the same once you get past the GT350. They are often the same, or close enough, but sometimes there are some truly unpredictable things occur which cannot be avoided at high speeds. And once you get to the Isuzu 4200 the random nature of the event only increases. I think there is some kind of "chance" involved in the coding to make it more or less difficult depending on certain circumstances.

Just because its easy for you doesn't make it a fact. I am personally finding this event to be harder than the rest as I still only have Silver after about 8 tries. Congrats on getting perfect on your first lap but you have to remember, the difficulty level of these events is not determined by any one person. What might be easy for you might be hard for someone else, and vice versa.....unless you are just a total alien.

I managed a perfect run on my first run I completed. Took it quite easy, quite scary to overtake the fast AI cars especially when there is a lot of spray and you don't know where you are going, it is hard to see other AI cars also. Still good enough for a gold by a decent margin although I imagine that is only the case if you keep the combo. I shall nickname this track and combo "The AI Hell".

After about 15 invalid tries and 3 valid ones, finally did myself proud!

Score: 1,125,389
Time left: 57 x 10,000 = 570,000
Overtakes: 60 x 5,000 = 300,000
Combo: 60 x 2,000 = 120,000
Perfect: 200,000
Total: 2,315,389

Keeping the bonus all the way to the end is far more important than getting a good time. That bonus is multiplying the distance travelled, it goes up 0.1 at a time, so you have 3x bonus after 30 overtakes. Every metre is worth 3x more than at the start after that!

Finishing the last section clean with 4x, 5x, then maybe 6x multiplier really adds the score. I eased of loads when approaching groups of cars and spray, even in sector 3, then carefully picked my way around them when it was clear where they were going to be and I had plenty of space.

Another key is probably to rack up the first overtakes as quickly as possible. Since you start at 1x multiplier and it increases 0.1 each time, that first overtake adds 10% more valuable. Getting the first 10-20 overtakes as fast as possible, using half the nitrous, let me relax through the more difficult rainy overtakes later.

Keeping a bit of nitro helps pass the Cizeta V16, Ferrari F40 and other hypercars more easily later on. Max out the speed bonus sections might give you 3 seconds instead of 2 but safe passes later on are more valuable, as the nitro lets you clear the sections cleanly and more quickly.

Anyway hope this helps. I gave away about 10 seconds through the twisty wooded part when the Gran Turismo and a herd of 5 other slow-coaches meander between the blind turns with rocky walls either side. But I kept my big bonus for the whole distance and that what adds the big score.

I have to say that this challenge was ultimately difficult for me. The AI were just plain annoying on this challenge on the fact just about every driver decided to switch lanes every couple seconds. I swear it was like they couldn't make up their minds.

With that said, I finally golded the challenge just a few minutes ago. I'm current taking pictures from my replay. :D
I also nearly got perfect oddly enough, the only major mistake I made was that I went too fast at a corner at the start of the rally before I met up with the first few cars. Since that though, I managed to somehow overtake every car without any collisions. I think I got a 6.7 combo.

Very nice factual info about this challenge! Thank you m8!

This challenge was easy for me.

Ok... I suddenly sensed a small whiff of arrogance reading that comment, but obviously you must be a good driver then.
So what's stopping you from appearing on the leaderboards first pages in a seasonal event?

My thoughts exactly.

Ferrari challenge is harder than the Nismo GT-R challenge.
I got the gold prize for the Ferrari event on my first try :)

I have noticed that some of the cars in the Nismo challenge were semi-premium and had number plates along with functional windshield wipers. The Nismo GT-R also had a number plate. Since this was discovered and we know about this now, GT6 should get an update that enabled number plates on the semi-premiums and the GT-R.

I will echo others' comments here that the AI are certainly stupidly annoying! What's with coming to an almost dead stop in a turn?! Or randomly trying to cut me off?!

Anyone once I got accustomed to their antics it was just a matter of focus and concentration, and I was finally able to run a clean lap for 2.05 million points. @BenMillard you're pretty fast! I only had 34 seconds remaining so didn't get as high a bonus there but the rest was pretty much the same.

So far have only tried once and only got through 7 stages.

It's a tough one with all the spray and overly early braking AI, but I love the difficulty and crazy AI.. makes it a good challenge... esp. for us mere humans.

So I go in to give it another try this morning, and my car is NOT the NISMO but an unrecognized orange race car. Nitrous was not available. Same race; same order or opponents; same rain pattern. Weird. I backed out and got it again. Backed out and the Nismo reappeared.

Pictures say more than a thousand words.....

Ever so slight improvement.

Score ------------------ 1,095,349

Max Combo ------ 60 --- 120,000
Perfect ------------------- 200,000

Had some cool overtakes for the highlight reel, just wish I had a way to record these replays. Had one overtake where I absolutely threaded the needle between two cars. Having more fun with this than I thought I would. :)

:grumpy: got rammed and lost a huge combo... and I was doing so well

At least I made it all the way through (twice infact) and managed Bronze.

I am still having trouble with this one, but getting a little bit better every time I restart and watching and learning the AI lines is helping me to pass them better, but where I am making to many mistakes is in the rain section, is it best to just take it easy in that section than everywhere else or still keep a good pace up.

I saw and passed the X Bow and also the following,
Fisker Karma, Model S, Subaru S206 NBR, LFA NE, Acura NSX Concept, Boss 302 Stang, Genesis Coupe and the Chromeline 300SL (again). :D In that particular order. :p

haha, j/k . . . I find it pretty impressive. This guy is hard to please, though.

Bigger improvement.

This was one of the most irritating events I can ever remember from the GT series... the car is nice enough to drive, but this event shows up every single fault with the AI programming!

After 2 previous short attempts that ended in rage quit, I made a proper effort to stay calm and get a perfect run last evening. Nailed the 1st half, took it very steady over the back half and finished with a little over 2.3 million points.

I doubt I'll be going back to try and improve

The most fun part is when they swerve violently in the braking zones..

Yeah, that's really, really irritating... when they are apparently going to take an inside approach, and just before the corner they change their mind and swerve to the outside :odd:

One example from last night that was particularly 'hilarious'

Caught up with 2 cars side by side mid way through one of the hairpins. The car on the outside was travelling slightly faster (there things are relative - they were doing <35mph!)... I slotted in behind the faster car, crawling along, waiting for a gap to appear. 2/3rd's round the corner it just slammed the brakes on and came to complete stop... WTF?

I had to take a deep breath, bite my tongue, close my eyes, count to 10 and think happy thoughts after that one

Or you're 99% past and the AI changes line, tags you, and you hear 'combo lost'... I'd like to personally rip the head off the woman who does the voice over... with my bare hands.

On a happier note... really like the changes they have made to the sound at the last update. I'm using bonnet (hood) as the sound source and the engine sound/effects are a massive improvement :)

I'm 100% with you on this! I've been taken out 3 times with less than a minute to go.

That's hilarious! ...and I'm laughing because I experienced every one of these emotions while running this event!! I went through all the stages of grief, starting with denial, through anger, and finally I just accepted it.

I also came up with a rationalization for this more than usually bizarre behavior by the AI... PD calls this event a "challenge"... not a "race". So I think it's their intent to put the AI out there not so much as "opponents", but as "obstacles" for you to avoid... to... ahem... test your maneuvering skills at speed I guess. How else can you explain a car in a "race" taking a turn at 5 mph and the "crazy Ivan" maneuvers these cars make when you approach them

Anyway, don't know if it makes anyone feel any better, but it helped prevent me from throwing something at my nice TV

Ironically, all in all I did end up enjoying this event, and I don't really race online, but I've been thinking of trying, so I feel it helped a bit to make me a "cleaner" driver in case I want to try that out.

.........they are often the same, or close enough, but sometimes there are some truly unpredictable things occur which cannot be avoided at high speeds..........

Which is why a NY taxi driver may not be on top of the TT leaderboards . . . but they will get you to the airport in time. Alive.

Let's just say there are a lot more neurons engaged when doing this than endlessly clipping seconds off the same driving line. ;)

Outstanding run Vic Reign93, absoultely OUTSTANDING!! As almost all have said, this one is pretty cool,, challenging enough to cause a few expletives,, especially when I saw my bonus count go back to 1 at turn 23 because one of "THOSE GUYS" (an older GTR) just barely ticked the nose of my car,, or we make it all the way to the very last right hander, come in just a tad HOT and give the rail just a teeny kiss and see - INVALID LAP! OMG!! LOL,, but it is fun! As many of the guys said, GOLD or a perfect lap wasn't too tough,, BUT crossing the finish line and seeing your credits go over $2M - - THAT's a real challenge!! I'm sitting at just over $1.9M, have attempted the run so many times but still haven't pushed it over that elusive $2M. CONGRATS TO ALL YOU DRIVERS who have achieved the $2M!!
