Alsace:

PS: 2:59.234
Rally: 17:52.899

So far, out of six, my rally time is fastest. My PS time is 2nd. None of the aliens have run yet.

Tidy driving there. I don't know why it has no tachometer either. This is one of a few cars in the game I don't like in cockpit cam. I think the wheel animation lags a bit and it distracts me. Whatever it is I'm less bad if I use dash cam with this one.

With two days left for Alsace, here are the partial standings with nine having run so far. Waiting for @Sepponaattori and @Drex124 here and jfferrero73, nachosimo97 and SonOfTheBlues on my end. Lucas' time is 16:29.218.

Issue 1: Audio desync made the video unwatchable so screenshots it is.
Issue 2: This might be one of the worst rallies for pace notes so far... Several corners didn't match with the number given at all, and then there were ones that didn't get called at all.
Issue 3: Lucas OP plz nerf. :P

We're all set, waiting on @Sepponaattori . If you need more time, no problem, we can wait. Just let us know.

For those who need to get Wales done, it's with the EVO Rally Cars with Sweet Lamb 2 as the shakedown.

Wales runs until the 31st of August.

Here is my Wales run. Solid, with a few errors on Sweet Lamb. Great Orme at nighttime was a nightmare but I made it through relatively clean.

PS: 2:54.428
Total: 18:41.703

I'm sorry. I did the French rally almost immediately when the time begun for it and then completely forgot about it. Been super busy with work and preparing the apartment I'm moving to. Here's my Rally Alsace stuff.

That's good for eighth overall and sixth on the PS. I have updated the points:

Here's my Wales run.
Overall: 19:38.122
PS: 3:03.966

The bad pace note got me on Hafren. The one where a 5 left downhill quickly becomes a 3 right and I went up the bank. Also a close call on Myherin when I clipped a gate in 5th. Expected trouble with Great Orme so took it nice and steady.

Lucas_Picone1 Wins Wales and the Championship!

slre-wales-winner_d00b1.jpg

Another dominating performance in Wales. Lucas_Picone1 was able to recover from his poor start in Monte to take the crown ahead of Drex124 and nachosimo97, who missed two rallies.

Here are the rally Wales results:

Behind Lucas, the Power Stage was VERY tight!

The final standings. Sepponaattori was able to steal fifth from me due to a solid podium in Wales. Smithers is really tenth due to having two 12-point finishes vs. only one from Quilis.

A hearty thanks to all who participated. I was very surprised and happy to see such a consistent turnout.

I would like to test the waters for a 2nd championship. We can stay at two rallies per month or move to one per month if it's too time consuming for anyone. My idea is to do the eight rallies again, but this time with maximum damage and four-day (8 stages) rallies. We could allow one rewind per stage in case someone bins it. Nothing is more frustrating than racing for half an hour with a broken car. It would also be fixed class so no one is worrying about grinding credits and buying cars. Something else I would like to implement is teams. Take the guys from the top half of the standings and give them a teammate from the bottom half. 2 drivers per team, they agree on a manufacturer or car, and we stick with that for the whole season. This system gives the guys on the lower end of the standings something to fight for, since they are just as important for the team championship as their faster teammate.

Let me know if anyone is interested in something like that.

I did a tryout run for season 2. Fulvia at Mexico. Based on the event results my total time would have been good for 9th. I would probably finish consistently mid to bottom of the standings if that helps determine teammates if the league decides to go that route.

Thanks. I hope this week that others in this thread will confirm their participation so I can get to work putting some fair teams together.

Now by fixed class you mean we pick a car and stick with that for the whole season right? Depending on the class chosen I'd be up for a second season, though I expect balancing the teams is gonna be a challenge. How will you deal with people not showing up for rallies due to lack of interest or just being busy with other things?

Class would be A8 or EVO cars (open to suggestions here), all season long.

Team option 1 is to have free car selection throughout the season. Team option 2 would be to have the teams agree on a manufacturer and stick to the same car all season.

In my DiRT Rally league we have run seasons with teams and they have worked out well. It's impossible to get the balancing perfect, and obviously the focus is on the general standings, but the aggregate of teams (and especially teams tied to a manufacturer) add a nice extra element of competition and give the slower people something to aim for.

I understand your concern regarding attendance. It is imperative for all those who sign up for a team are dedicated to doing all the rallies. We had a good consistent turnout for this past season so I am confident we can pull it off. Again, I've done it successfully in our DR league. And to help, instead of setting a fixed calendar, I think we should just leave the rallies with open dates. Start off with Monte and say everyone should shoot for doing it within ten days, but if we have to wait for some people, no problem. We aren't really in a rush. It could extend the season's time a bit more, but personally between the GTS FIA races, this SLRE league, my DiRT 4 League and a WRC 7 league I am participating in it's been a tough couple months. So I understand time constraints and we can do whatever possible to accomodate those who need more time. The most important thing is for people to commit. Anyway, in the worst case scenario we would just disband the teams if participation becomes erratic. It's just an extra bit of fun that helps the slower guys have more fun and adds an extra element to the competition, so if everyone is planning on continuing it would be something great to do.

This second season would end roughly a few weeks before Codemasters' new rally title is released and I am sure when that happens interest for continuing with SLRE will diminish unless it turns out to be another DiRT 4-esque flop.

I can confirm that I would like to participate. (Obviously not sure I CAN but I'll definitely try my best; similarly to what I did in the 1st season). Cheers!

Firstly, thanks for organising this league, it's added a lot to my enjoyment of this game even though I'm not very good.

I'm up for it. Not so keen on sticking with one car all season but I guess if its A8 or Evo we'll all find something we like. I like the realistic damage and was going to object to the rewind...then I thought about it and instead of meaning we can not worry about damage it means that after a crash we have to consider if the damage is so bad we really want to waste our one rewind, which could be interesting.

As to losing interest in SLRE I hope it doesn't happen. I also play Dirt Rally/4, WRC7 and now RBR but despite all its faults SLRE still has something that keeps me coming back.

Thanks for confirming. I agree that sticking with one manufacturer all season might not sit well with everyone, but having the teams tied to a brand is quite fun, we've done it in DiRT Rally, the problem is making sure no-one ends up with a car they "hate". I want to see what others think, too about this.

I am inclining towards the A8 class as it is the most balanced and the cars are fun to drive and more forgiving than EVO class. The 2WD and historics are pretty much out of the picture because there is too much imbalance, especially in the classes with multiple drivetrains.

A8 class includes Lancia Delta, Ford Escort, Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza and Toyota Celica. EVO class if including DLC has more options but is more imbalanced, for example the Subaru in the EVO class is a real dog.

I’m up for option 2 where we stick with the same car all season like IRL. Maybe let the ‘A’ drivers of each team pick the car until all are selected and then pick duplicates if there are more teams than cars. That way there’s some diversity and there’s less chance we’re all competing for the same manufacturer.

I also prefer using the same car instead of having to change midstream and learn another car all over again. I don’t foresee myself getting a car I hate. :)

Could I please ask a favor of @Sepponaattori , @Drex124 , @Georgeagea , @Smithers1968 and @cjr3559 :

Please send me a private message with your preferred car: Lancia Delta, Ford Escort, Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza and Toyota Celica.

If the five of you commit as well as RallyHOLiC we will have 15 participants to make 5 teams of 3 drivers each. Once we have the teams worked out I will look at the rules. For example, if someone doesn't do a rally, how to compensate the team. But the idea is to allow everyone to participate even if we have to extend a rally for a week or so.

So please confirm your participation! Thanks!

@Pfei will do man, but are these cars available for free / on rent?! The problem for me, and I suppose for some other people, is that I don't have the money to buy any of these expensive cars, so I roll with the car available for rent.

The idea is to make manufacturer teams so you will run with the same car all season, and the A8 cars are not expensive. You should have more than enough to buy one just from running our league this past season. This way we avoid all the class swapping, grinding, selecting and buying cars. One car, eight rallies.
