I was just wondering the ratio of people that smoke or dip to the people that do neither. If you smoke or dip just vote what you do, if neither then vote No way! If you dip and smoke please just vote the one that is your main doing. Also if you do either please leave a comment on what type, I dip skoal apple blend only now, I did dip cope black for years and changed the day apple came out:) I don't smoke and I never will because I can't stand it, but I do dip. And please don't turn this into a flame thread about how nasty smoking is and how people are morons for smoking or dipping etc. You can state your opinion, just don't say things like, you are an idiot because you do X etc. please.

Kid with CF + smoking = death inside of a year

Not that I'd smoke without him, either...

It's the stuff that you chew instead of smoke. It's normally called Dipping tobacco. I don't chew or smoke any of the stuff because I know I would get addicted to the stuff easily.

See what I meant by people call it "chewing tobacco" but its not:sly:

Its disgusting if the person does idiotic things like spitting in cups and leaving them to get knocked over or spitting all over the ground where you are standing etc. I do none of these things, you would never even know I was dipping if it weren't for the large lump in my bottom lip, I'm from AL. so its required to dip huge amounts....:)

I smoke on occasion, I cut way back on it though but there are some days when a smoke is just good. I also smoke cigars on occasion too, probably 4-5 a month. Although all this is probably going to come in an end in May since in Michigan we'll no longer be able to smoke in public places.

Won't be able to smoke in open areas that are public? Wow, you can't smoke in public places here like eating establishments and most bars since 2 years ago. There are a handful of bars that just pay fines for people smoking because they said the fines are way less than all the customers they lost when the no smoking law passed.

I quit smoking 5 years ago, which means I buy a pack every couple months and feel really guilty about smoking it. Which is better for me than smoking all the time, I suppose.

That image is the 6th or 7th most foul thing I've ever seen.

What about snuff then?

Snuff is a different beast. Snuff is a powder that is just horrid and nasty to me, my great aunt dipped snuff. Moist tobacco like I dip stays put and I dip long cut so it doesn't go all over my mouth like fine cut and snuff would. Snuff is more of an "old timers" type of deal.

I gave up cigars about 2 years ago. At that point, it was 2 a day, and when I did the math....

Smoking ban in public places is great for getting to know more people. Though I presume you'll still be able to smoke outside?

I smoke, fairly casual. Can't imagine dip/chewing tobacco. Never seen anyone do that in the UK, doubt I ever will.

It came from Sweden to here long, long ago. They just now started selling the sweed style of dip here in the states, snus.

Neither, never have and never will. I can't stand the smell and I hate eating by people who are. Even when I was little I wold rather starve than eat when there was an ash tray on the table.

They will once they realize it's a way to get their sweet, sweet nicotine whenever they want, wherever they are, without having to go outside in the cold and rain.

I'm assuming by "smoke" you mean ciggarettes and not something else. So I had to vote "no".

But I take a drag off a ciggie every now and then...it's pretty rare these days, tho.

And here. Have never smoked so far, and this year I'm finishing that stage of my life when your friends and/or schoolmates are likely to push you into doing it.

Smoker here. Don't ask me why, and I've been thinking about quitting for a long time now.

Atleast I quit the other addictions I had. Smoking isn't as bad as snorting, chewing, popping and hitting. :indiff:

Ohio has a smoking ban in all public places. In certain places you are not even allowed to light up even if you are outside. They will tell you to leave the premises if you want to smoke. If you choose not to leave the premises and smoke outside anyway, you will then be police / security guard escorted off of the property and a fine implemented towards you.In my opinion, thats total B.S. !!!!!

There is however one bar that is close by to where I live that does not adhere to the smoking ban.If you go in there and want to smoke, there is a jar on the bartop that you will have to put a dollar into. The reason for this is,if they do get popped for allowing smoking in a public establishment, the money in the jar pays the fine, which is around $100 bucks or so.

Well, I'l 14... and I'm not to sure about other countries - but in NZ it's illegal to buy ciggies if you're under 18... never tried either tobacco, never will.

From a non-smoker, and compounded with being a parent of a child with a lung condition, I say that anyone that won't follow an establishment's (or in this case state's) rules should be made to leave. There's nothing worse than walking into or out of a building only to be hit by a wall of smoke. For the benefit of our son, my wife and I are done being quiet or subtle when we walk past them, too. We're not in-their-face obnoxious, but we will say something about moving away from the doors.

In Illinois the smoking ban is for all indoor public places, and also extends to 15ft from an entrance. Not really enforced in most bars, from what I've heard the law doesn't describe how it is to be enforced, so its not like police are going to go from bar to bar looking for smokers, and of course the bar employees aren't going to get their paying customer fined, so it continues there.

To answer the poll, neither.

Yeah I smoke very very very occasionally, but not the cancer sticks that you buy from your convenience store. I actually prefer to smoke FLAVOURED tobacco through an Narguileh (aka a hookah or shisha!) if I do smoke tobacco, because the taste is a lot better than smoking it normally. Flavours range from apple, to mango, to watermelon, and they even have mixed fruit flavours, which is my personal favourite.

If you are a smoker and you haven't tried it, I suggest trying one out. In Sydney they are quite prevalent in the middle eastern areas (Bankstown, Auburn, Guildford, etc.) and you can go into a restaurant and there is a menu for what flavour and how much for. Just look for a middle eastern shop and ask for it and see how you go.

I wish there was one up here where I live, just to show the bumpkins what it's like. :p

Tobacco gives me headaches but your question is open ended enough that if you're looking for a percentage of ciggy smokers you may have some swayed numbers!
