Quitting was the best thing I ever did and secretly it's something every smoker wants. :)

I agree, but quitting can be difficult. I've started to smoke less and less as I'm trying to "get in shape". Doing ok. The hardest part will be not smoking on a night out. I suppose I could just become one of those people who just smoke when drinking.

I started smoking in 1975 as a 15 year old, quit so many times. Then on August 1 of 2005 I gave it up for good. I smoked 1 pack a day of Canadian cigs ($10 per pack) I have saved a small fortune in the the past 5 & 1/2 years. Quitting was the best thing I ever did and secretly it's something every smoker wants. :)

I disagree, I honestly don't want to quit, even if it was easy. I love smoking, it helps me do better at work and makes me feel good throughout the day. My life wouldn't be the same without my cigarettes.

Just give it a few years, when your lungs begin to burn and you start coughing up phlegm. Your heart will finally start to turn on you.

I had a co worker that use to say he like smoking too, that was until he was diagnosed with lung cancer, he's been dead for 20 years now.

Yeah I agree with what your saying, I just mean that at this point in my life I don't want to quit. In 5 years that might change.

It will, I said the same at 17 when I started. First it was yeahhhh, I can quit when I want, I'll stop after high school, then after college, now I'm 25 and wish every day I had never started.

I can honestly say that the only time I even enjoy a cigarette anymore is when I'm drinking. Any other time it's just fulfilling a habit.

I've been around a pack/day since 18 or so now

Non-smoker, but Richmond, Lamber & Butler and Benson & Hedges are most common amongst my smoking friends.

More 'upmarket' brands like Marlboro, Embassy/Regal and Rothmans are too expensive for them.

Cuban cigars for me. Joke I dont smoke but if I ever can Im trying one.

Non-smoker.

This is just a question, but I wonder; don't you (everybody that smokes) think about the consequences? I mean what it can do to your health?

Not to make others worry but a couple of months ago, I met a guy whom was between 40 and 45 and he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He started smoking in his teenage years.

I think I can speak for all of us smokers when I say that we never think or worry about the consequences or our health.

Seriously dude, I thought it was good for me.

Hmmn, from a teen point of view, I don't intend to smoke into adulthood its just with mates in my teen years, so I don't see myself as smoking when I'm 40 and getting cancer. Also you will find most anti smoking facts are actually very bias, anyway if smoking is reallly that dangerous why would it not be illegal.

I know I can quit when I want too, If I can't be arsed to get fags and don't smoke for a week, I don't feel like I need any during the week.

Also for teens its kinda a way of rebelling against parents. ;)

Some of my mates are completely anti smoking even if their parents smoke, I have been brought up in an anti smoking way however my attitude is completely different from that as you can see. Strange.

As a matter of fact, it is in some public places and in offices, where I live.

In the UK it's illegal to smoke in public buildings like pubs, office buildings, academic buildings (Schools, Colleges and Universities) and supermarkets.

I just read on a Belgian site that it is going to be illegal to put cigarets in front of shop-windows as of 2012. Is this true?

After a internet search I havent found anything about it.

On the news I heard them say something about marlboro and then spoke to some teenagers about how it could effect people choosing to smoke (that whatever they were planning would make more people smoke).

Just saw it on the 10pm news.

I don't think it will effect people smoking much, teenagers don't just walk past a shop one day and choose to go and gets some cigarettes, for one they can't buy them and would need to get someone to get them for them. This proposal is too move them out of view, it will happen in supermarkets later this year and in newsagents by 2015. It is also a government plan not eu.

In Canada it has been illegal for shop keepers to display cigs for many years. In Alberta you can not smoke inside any public building, you can not smoke in restaurants or in any place of business or work. You can not smoke within 3 meters of an outside entrance to a public building.

For the poster that thinks he will just quit before adulthood, you have another thing coming. I would quite ASAP, there are millions world wide that are diagnosed with some form of cancer, not to mention all the ones that die of heart attacks and strokes. There is no "and" "or" "buts", ... cigarettes kill.

Newport reds here, sadly just started back up again on cigs. I can make a can of dip last me over a week, but give me a pack of cigs and I'll get it gone in 3 days. I think I'm starting to get addicted, and it scares the living hell out of me
