Is there anything wrong with pulling the handbrake and spinning across the start/finish line when you win

its unprofessional.

what if 2nd and 3rd is still going at it and there's a spinning/parked on the start/finish straight?

It simply looks dumb. It's the same meathead mentality NASCAR people use when doing the "burnouts" after a win...

atleast that dosen't affect drivers running behind 1st

Maybe the NASCAR thing doesn't

I must admit I'd rather some meathead guy pull the handbrake and smoke the finish, well ahead of the pack and/or sending himself into the grass usually, than slam the brakes on on the line so the field piles into him yet it still pushes him over the line in first. I've seen that a few times now.

I usually do it and try to stop in reverse just before the finish and let others pass me. I have no need for credits any more and I like trying to perfect the handbrake park :)

nothing wrong with it. at the end of nascar they do burnouts on the infield. in the Le Mans series i know corvette racing has done burnouts in front of the corvette coral after they win. you will sometime see F1 racers do dough nuts. sadly once the race ends you cant do any of these things so you have to celebrate somehow. just make sure you deserve the win before doing it and didnt cheat to get the win.

and for those saying it affects 2nd and 3rd how? hes across the line already unless your a lap down theres no way it will affect you.

this is a video game. Id like to see someone try it at an SCCA trackday and face the consequences.

IIRC in season 1 of A1GP Alexandre Prémat would slam on the brakes as he crossed the finish line if he had a decent lead. I think a back marker almost ran into the back of him once, but I could be wrong. It’s been a while. 💡

I used to find it a wee bit disrespectful, a sort of 'in-yer-face' thing after being beaten, but now I don't mind it because I've been beaten by some really good blokes who've been honest and fair (Weary) and as far as I'm concerned, they can run around at the finish line in the nuddy if they want. As long as it's in the spirit of the race then that's cool.

:dopey:👍

I see nothing wrong with celabrating your accomplishment on a Win or a top 3. It doesn't hurt anyone as long as you do a smoking skid at the start finish line. I do smoking finishes, not all the time but I do them sometimes. I like doing them because I like to feel a sense of accomplishment, and celebrat it..

The only way I see it as being wrong is if you are not in the top 3 spots and/or you are doing it celebrate a 7th place finish. (Which is idiotic, but I have seen it! :D) Or if your smoking finish effects any racers outcome in the event.

I don't care what you say I will do smoking finishes as long as I don't effect anyone else. :)

My thoughts exactly :) I don't see how it affects anyone elses race dramatically, provided you pass the line.

I don't find it the lease disrespectful for a smoking finish. In fact, i find it highly respectful that if someone has clearly won after a tough and clean battle, they take the time to stop at the end. For me, it's a sign of "cheers, thanks for the race" 👍
Perfect example- MisterWeary :) (BTW great racing ya again mate!)

I can't explain it but it's been a tradition of mine since GT1.

If I've had a good battle with the guy behind, tho, I'll usually nail the wall so he gets the place. Since there's no in game comms it's the only way to say thanks for a good race.

I see no problem with the smoking finish, always done it since the 1st GT came out, and as long it doesn't affect others in the game, it's ok to celebrate a victory......

to bad #3 isnt around we could ask him

oh now that was a low blow.

Spining out or draging the rear wheels as you cross the line is perfectly fine, for one reason only, it slows you down. therefore your only gonna do it if you have a substantial lead, where other cars wont catch up and take your victory away during the celebration.

That being said, if you have a substantial lead, not only will you not effect anyones race, but you also deserve to celebrate. see? all works out dosnt it. :)

I only do it if im up by more than 2 seconds on the final stretch, it doesnt really affect the other players.

I've done it like all the others since my early days, it's just like letting your energy out after a tough race, or away of saying 'phew'. However reversing across the line is snobbish and I don't like it.

I rarely do it, but if I do I make sure no one is right behind me to be effected by it.

I usually grab the E brake and spin across the line if it was a good race or a big lead. Its fun to watch the AI try to sort it all out, some times they get it sometimes they fail miserably lol.

another problem with doing that crap. lapped drivers have to deal with avoiding the meathead?

(lowning your words kensei ;))

and how it will affect runner ups? think people like plowing into parked cars near(or over) the line? 2nd will more than likely try and avoid it, thus slowing him down and giving 3rd an opportunity.
