I was going to ask what night on main thread. Unfortunately wednesday wont work for me. I was also going to try and start a similar league but on tuesday as that works with my schedule.

Pretty much every day works for me (divorced life is great, btw) so I'll update the day to "TBD" until we get more opinions.

I think the winning combo would be a good idea for the first race. But after that I think we should allow the winner to select a combo each week.... because if we have another instance where the same combo runs 3 weeks straight I’m not going to run that many laps on the same combo.

Haha good point... yeah, I like the idea of allowing the winner to choose (and if the same winner wins back-to-back weeks, the prize can go to second place).

1.5 hours is a really long time but other than that it's pretty good. I agree with spec because it keeps the racing tight like our Sunday series.

I'm open for any time. So Thursday night and Sunday night are a no go. Other than that I'll go with whatever is the consensus.

Also, I'm sure we'll get some testing in to debate tire/fuel wear as @BradESPN suggested.

Tire wear will be different between cars so that's a quick thing to work out in testing. That's something the prize winner can find out when testing for the pick. The main race car classes can probably be the same for all cars in class but do you think that can be done with the road cars?

Hi Brad - thanks for kicking this off. @USERID_77a23 and I were toying around with a similar idea a few months ago, so I’m tagging him in this thread.

I love the idea of full damage , and the winning combo from previous week idea too, but I also agree that may go flat for as often as we practice the same combos all week long.
As DP eluded to , the weight of the car will determine severity of tire wear.

I'm definitely interested, at least as a potential part-timer participant. So don't worry about my availability when selecting a day and time.

I'm interested, and will participate as much as possible. I've been browsing the net a bit looking for an endurance league so your timing is perfect!

Sounds like the only contentious parts are the day we race, and the length of the race.

Day we race - How does everyone feel about Tuesday night? @TVV0_ are there any other days that work for you (just in case we have a conflict)?

Length of the race - We have a few options here:
    A) One 1.5 hour race
    B) One 1 hour race
    C) Two 1 hour races
    D) Two 45 minute races
I'd like to finalize everything soon enough to start racing next week, so if you have any opinions on the above, speak now! Also, I've added a poll to help decide on day of the week - it'll close in 2 days, at which point I'll add a poll for the length of the race.

I would like to be on the list - I love racing endurance races.

I think 2x45 minute races are good, and second could again be reverse grid if you wanted to keep in the spirit of SNAIL.
If that isn't an option, 1x90 minute race is my vote.

Weeknights work for me, I always struggle to get around to racing on Sunday night which is why I can't race in the main league as often as I would like to.

Also, I think with races of this length, tire and fuel wear should be at x3 at most.

Has there been discussion about car class? I think we should stay away from N500+ as these cars handle like ass when the tires start to wear and really don't make endurance racing very fun. The group 4/3 cars are a great place to start imo.

    Added, thanks Sean!

Yeah, I'd be okay with any of the race length options, but would probably prefer 1x90.

I'm pretty ignorant at this point when it comes to fuel/tire wear, so I'll be doing a bunch of testing this weekend... our current combos in the main series give a pretty wide spectrum, so I'll probably just try something like x3 for all of them and see how it goes.

Is anyone strongly opposed to keeping fuel/tire wear consistent (regardless of combo)? This consistency would actually add to variety because each car will of course handle fuel/tires so differently.

I can also run some testing tonight, if we need a track for the first night my vote is Dragon Trail - not too difficult to drive, good high speed track and one technical section that will keep people awake.

I think we're gonna use the winning combo from Sunday and we just need a protocol for when it lasts a second week. Maybe give the last week's winner an option to change either car or track.

I'm fine with that, but I would like if we could open up the tire compounds, so if we're using racing tires, racing hard, medium, soft and super soft were all available and it'd become the drivers choice what he/she runs.

Friday needs to be taken off your list of possibilities. The BoD has something in the works.

Noted. It won't let me remove it from the poll, but it's effectively out.

If you do allow allow tire options it's usually best to keep it simple and use only two or three. The extra super soft this time around makes it interesting. You can now play the Pirelli Formula 1 Tire Selection Simulator and decide which set of compounds get to be used at each race! Go with two side by side like hard/medium or spread it out with medium/super soft and see how an extra pit stop with fresher faster tires works. The power is yours!

I think a good mix would be Hard and Soft. Everyone is used to racing on Hard, but adding in the soft would make for totally different strategies, unfortunately we don't have safety cars which would make tire selection/pitting even more strategic. It sounds like they aren't planning on adding dynamic weather, but that would make endurance even more fun.
