What a race, that one definitely lived up to the hype! Awesome job to @keepitsteady We were neck and neck basically the entire 90 minutes. And big ups to everyone that not only joined - but stayed for the entire thing even if they wernt having the greatest race. Lots of respect.

Fun race tonight. Sam ran a 2 19 which i didnt know was physically possible. Good fun

Had I pieced everything together I was flirting with 2:18's

On that note I will be MIA for the next 2 weeks. Save me a spot for when I get back :) Have fun!

Haha, my OPT was 2:29 (whomp whomp whomp). You guys were fast. Had a fun race even though it was a battle for not last with @Tecticles. Unfortunately we never got to "race" each other, rather, every time one of us would take the lead we would follow it up with taking a wall...to the grill.

Damage was brutal but interesting. Blue flags were useful. Sorry to anyone that rammed into the back of me. The road is skinny and I put on my blinker and tried my best to give way.

I'm not gonna sugar coat it. I did not particularly enjoy myself last night. It was certainly a good challenge, but it was very difficult. But at the same time, I didn't really join to be competitive as I know I won't be and don't intend on trying to be either. However, the default FOV I find to be horrendous and probably plays the largest part in my struggle to find any consistency at all. I don't particularly care for the way the steering works in this game on a pad, but I did manage to somewhat come to grips with it over the course of the race. It was an interesting evening st least.

Everyones livery was nice last night folks. Also is gtsport getting time progression?

You liked my stock plain white I see :)

Do you race from cockpit view?

I thought most of us was using cockpit view. I dont know why i assumed that.lol

I'm relatively new to SIM racing, so I use hood cam - cockpit is very restrictive for me and I find it hard to drive with.
I'm sure if everyone was forced to use cockpit I could learn it quickly enough.

Ive only raced in one racing series that forced cockpit view and that was on pc2 before gts was released.

Yeah you picked a hell of a time to join us. Very difficult combo.

It was great to race with you again and hopefully we'll see you on Sundays in the future.

The look to apex feature in pcars2 makes the cockpit view imo.

Yes, on a single monitor it's helpful and seems an appropriate addition to enhance gameplay,
Especially for those using a narrow FOV.

Speaking of... is FOV adjustable in GTS?

Truthfully, I think I would have struggled with any combo.

Sundays... that's definitely not gonna happen. I'll be around here and there to dabble in SNAIL things randomly, but no serious commitments. No sense in wasting JL's time. Only the PC gets that much attention nowadays. C&M will likely be my prime source of SNAIL action since it's just plain fun and doesn't really require me to be "good". Karts are always fun, but hard to drive on pad. Besides the karts in PC2 suuuuuuck. Even in a steering wheel.

Our regular season starts next week, here are the details.

8 Week season, points are carried as the regular SNAIL league does.
The current leader in points each week is the driver who get's to choose the combo for the next week.
Drivers can defer to the next placed person if they want to save their choice, or if they can't make it the next week.
The same driver cannot choose the combo more than once in a season.
* If you didn't race, you are ineligible to choose the combo for the following week, regardless if you're next in line in points.
** In the event of a tie in points, the tiebreaker is decided based on who was faster in the most recent race. (E.g if driver A and driver B both have 20 points after week 2 and are up to choose, but driver A beat driver B in the week 2 race, the pick goes to driver A).
*** The same track or car cannot be used in the same season - it has to be both a different track and different car (variations of tracks are allowed)
After the season is over, we will eliminate your lowest 2 scores from the points to determine the final rankings.

With that being said, the first race of our regular season will be announced late tonight/tomorrow morning.

Are there enough people to split into divisions? I'd feel more competitive and the aliens would feel less angry at me for being in their way.

We have 26 registered which I don't think is enough to split it into 2 full time divisions with separate lobbies - but on weeks where we have more than 16 obviously we will carry two lobbies.
Once we grow to a point where we consistently have 20+ drivers each week I think we will split into division 1/2

Something else to think about: what to do if more than 16 people show up. We were 16/16 last night (which was awesome)

Agreed, this is definitely something we need to consider as a possibility, a perfect 16/16 was great last night - it's too bad we can't have 24 driver custom lobbies...

I definitely think a multiclass to split divisions would work. The splitting for instances where we have more than 16 drivers i say odds one room evens other room based on previous results? Even split of fast to slow in each lobby

I think that would be counter intuitive.
Imo if we have 20 drivers, the top 10 in one lobby, the bottom 10 in another so we can create good racing.

First and Second were 2 seconds apart yesterday, you lose that if you split them up.

I suspect that the Aliens (aka Snailiens) would prefer to be racing against each other.
If you put Alien #2 in the second room, who does he race against that will prevent him from taking the top step of the Podium each week?
