We had discussion earlier of doing points per finishing laps and times between the rooms to be even up(once its a regular occurance).

I just know we had a few interested non members join in wanting to race that had to leave or get booted. A 2nd lobby for now could be our test lobby like @Neutty had stated. Ill host it even if no points will be involved as i just enjoy the enduros and would like to see the member list grow.
If it helps at all I will give up my spot in the official (fast) room to fast drivers for better competition in that room. I really do the endurance racing to improve my craft and I have been a backmarker in all but the Toyota race. As @TVV0_ somewhat alluded to as well, I am not really concerned with points, and I know that a few SNAILs left the room as well on Tuesday and didn't race (by their own choice). We could easily have 2 rooms going if interest/participation is close to what we had on Tuesday. During the half hour of open room lapping, I usually get the clue that I will not be competitive and would be fine with allowing others to race who may be more competitive and not in the way repeatedly.

For anyone interested and available, I’ll be hosting a practice race (50 minutes) tonight at 9:00 (EST), and I’ll have the room up by 8:30 (EST).

So interesting scenario, the ac is going out in my house and the hvac company isn’t availiable to come out until tomorrow afternoon between 5pm and 9pm. Let’s hope they come before the race starts if not I am going start the race and then may need to park until they get it fixed. Pregnant wife is hot so that’s a pariority to me. If I have to park and take care of that and then get back on will that count against me @BradESPN

It’ll “count” in that you’ll obviously get less points because you’ll finish lower. However, since we’re only counting your top 6 scores (of 8), it probably won’t hurt you at all.

I think we can all agree that the Official drivers should be guaranteed a chance to race together. And as far as points go, if you're not an Official driver, who cares? If you're interested in competing for the season championship, you'll get your chance the following season when you "commit".

For next week we have 7 drivers committed to participate (Sam and Tex have already said they'll be out), and they should all be in the "main" lobby. If we get 9 or less drivers voicing interest in this thread (I like @TVV0_ 's idea of a confirmation list, and I'd be happy to maintain that list on the first post), we're good to go - only one lobby is needed. If we get 10 or more drivers voicing interest, we'll need to split 'em up like this:

Main Lobby - 7 Official drivers + Interested drivers
Other Lobby - Interested drivers
And we could split 'em up such that each lobby has the same number of drivers. If an Interested driver wants a guaranteed spot in the main lobby, they can "commit" to being a Provisional driver until they're able to become an Official driver next season.

Does anyone see any problems with that plan?
Hey Brad, I will commit to being provisional driver. And I will be racing tmrw

For tonight's race, we currently have 8 committed drivers:

@TVV0_
@Neutty
@Mully465
@spidermonkey / x_SIK_PUPPY_x
@stelephant
@vsfit
@keepitsteady / speedcenter

Everyone else, please respond to this thread if you intend on racing tonight (otherwise a spot won't be guaranteed):
@MikeGrove
@Whitey093
@Hanable / hanablemoore
@Tecticles / Tec1347
@Adramike / Ghost_of_Fury41

I'm planning to practice this afternoon and be there tonight, but hoping the issue I had last night with being stuck in auto drive isn't another network issue I'm having! Has anyone with a good network experienced this?

Yeah, hopefully that was just another random PD issue - at least we didn't have the pit bug last night.

FYI, I have an "Interested Drivers for May 29th" section in the first post, which you're now included in.

Is the general consensus with these long races to find the tire that lasts as long as the fuel or do some people use a faster tire and pit for tires before they use up all their fuel?

It has varied quite a bit - there's been pitting just for tires, pitting just for fuel, and everything in between. You should join in tonight and experience it first hand.

Alsace optimal strategy was 2 sets of soft tires per tank of fuel, but pit lane is very short and exit of pit lane is a hairpin so carrying more speed through the start finish means nothing.

Monza was different, but I'm not sure what the best strategy was.

Nobody really knows what the optimal strategy is unless they do extensive testing .

I did a quick test for the Corvette but didnt make the practice race. I can confidently say though that fuel lasts 12 laps/~19 minutes and softs might last that long but at the end when you're fighting the car, harder tires might be smoother for longer. Hards comfortably last as long as fuel. This is all with no fuel map adjustments and going hard the entire time. So 4 stops if you're constantly pushing.

I was wondering if people were making softs last a long time or something

I would say if you can keep pace using hards saving fuel ultimately should be the optimum strat in endurance racing. Each pit cost atleast 20secs about.

Pit is about 20 seconds of you fill half the tank.
Full tank of fuel costs you around 23 seconds.

Fast laps with RH tires will be in the 1'28's. Fast laps with RS probably 1'26's.

Fuel saving? If watching IMSA and WEC taught me anything the ladtlfew years its that endurance races are now basically sprint races where everyone drives as hard as possible, pits, and does it over again :P

a little something for @Hellbringer69 regarding the forthcoming update.

Thats about what i predicted. Minimum 20s. so unless the softs are lasting over 10 laps they are not gaining you an advantage. On paper
