Just curious if I could be moved to the "Provisional Drivers" list, until after July 10th at which time I'm hoping to become an "Official Driver"

That was my strategy. I short shifted the entire race and ran hard tires (except for my final mini stint). I only pitted when the tank was empty though. I would say 4-5 laps before my fuel was gone I would really start to feel a big difference in the grip of my tires. That's when I would start to drive a bit more conservatively but my lap times were still OK.

I've tried both ends of the spectrum - soft tires and minor fuel conservation, and hard tires with plenty of short shifting. Generally speaking the soft tire strategy has been faster for me.
Reason's I've noticed;
Unless you can stay out long enough (31 minutes per stint) you'll end up requiring a 3rd stop anyways at which point it would've been more effective to burn fuel at a faster rate so every time you stop for fuel you fill up.

If you go offtrack while on a RH strategy it can really screw up the balance of your race depending if you got damage or not.

This is all dependent on what fuel/tire wear settings we are using obviously, and is dependent on the track as well, I think the only week somebody won on a conserving strategy was week 1 at Monza - and speedcenter was furiously catching up to him after he had some crashes.

Yep, consider yourself Provisional! And all Provisional drivers will become Official automatically at the end of the season, so you're good to go.

Friendly reminder to our Interested drivers from this week that you'll need to commit to racing next week in order to guarantee a spot. Alternatively, you can follow @DublDee's lead and become Provisional - assuming you're confident that you'll be able to race in 75% of the races.

Here's the Interested drivers from this week:

@GTPvw_slc / SLC_VR6_V-DUB
@DesertPenguin / DesertPenguin09
@thracerviewr / TheRaceReviewer
@ChauncyMarsh / Se4n2s0si
@MikeGrove

Last night I was battling my mind more than anyone on track. For some reason I could not for the life of me take that hairpin turn like normal. It was a total mental block and the longer the race went the more I dreaded approaching that friggin turn. Lap after lap my confidence sunk. I'm surprised I didnt have nightmares about it when I went to bed.

You were not the only one. I felt the exact same way. I seemed to have it down during practice but like you mentioned, once it reaches out and bites you its hard to get over that for some reason...funny and weird.

@thracerviewr I thought your strategy might hold up. It seemed you were keeping pace with me through 2/3 of the race but fell off the last 30mins. In any case good race.

Yep, everyone was going slow around the hairpin, and even then I slid a few times while taking it easy - thankfully the most I lost was a couple seconds (granted I had a few other accidents in other parts of the race).

Pretty sure I was the slowest in that turn....It was weird though, one time it would feel like it would stick, and the next lap it was like I hit ice.

Thanks! I had an unfortunate coming together with @DesertPenguin as I was lapping him with 12 mins or so to go. I had to limp back to the pits with damage and then have my car repaired. Luckily I had to pit anyway within a lap or two but I did lose a bunch of time. I think I could have had 5th place if it wasn't for that. This was my first endurance race and I enjoyed it a lot!

@BradESPN I definitely want to do this every week so you can make me a provisional driver.

Well...I hope most of you had fun. I think this was the most challenging endurance race yet. I was warn out afterwards.

I did like the fact that there was more traffic as it added to the challenge. But yeah, that pit exit is a wreck waiting to happen. I mentioned something about it before we started but knew that would be futile.

Enjoyed last night. @stelephant you were right on me and I had just put on harder tires to run out the last of the time and that's when my girlfriend decided to comment that I wasn't doing very well. Mini-meltdown ensued and I spun. Then you did! Then my aero was shot and I couldn't catch you. Good racing.

It was quite the finish! I guess I wanted to just follow you into the dirt to keep it interesting?! It was a scramble to get out and back on track. I had some damage there, but it seemed as if you had more. Definitely some fun racing there in the last 15 minutes. Pressure!

It took my wife awhile to understand that this wasn't Mario Kart and I can't just hold A and go as fast as everyone else.
Tell your girlfriend you're only XX seconds slower per 2 minute lap, but after 40 laps that adds up.

My wife thinks this is a video game.
I was shocked and felt violated, I responded that this is a simulator not a game. She laughed I laughed she got mad cause I was laughing and walked away. (Pregnancy hormones)
She also calls anime cartoons! :banghead:

These quotes are hilarious. :D

I plan to have a room open tonight. Feel free for input on my choice I have a very interesting idea that will make this the most difficult combo and tiring one yet.

If you're still thinking about the same combo you were thinking about yesterday.......................oh please lord.

Ha the car will probably change but need to get them on track. I feel like the attendance will be low for this next week.

Is it the supra turned up the 1000hp on sport mediums or softs. That would be interesting.Lol

Does GTS consider power and weight changes tuning or can you do that while still having no tuning?

Thanks, you’re both good to go.

This puts us at 13 already for next week. I’m hoping we can get to 20 so that we can have two lobbies of ten.

I'll commit once combo is announced. I'm a little scared. :confused:

I sadly am further away from a decision than I was earlier today. I am disappointed at the fact that I don’t have a combo choice for you all by now. That was my goal.

Yeah, I felt increasingly bad about having to turn away @Raw10_2u, @Hanable, and @MSgtGunny throughout the race, but I'm still pretty confident that we made the right decision. Once we can consistently get to needing two lobbies, this problem will go away (until we need three...).

For example, say we had 18 drivers signup (either automatically by being Official/Provisional, or by posting here for the Interested drivers). I could post lobby assignments here (with all Official drivers in the same lobby, guaranteed), and then we'd have two lobbies with 7 open spots each for the rando SNAILs to join in. I don't want to preemptively split everyone up, because having two lobbies of 8 is much worse than one lobby of 16.

Long story short, if people are able to post in this thread before 5 PM Eastern on race day, we do have a plan in place. Handling it on the fly 5 minutes before the race starts is where it gets a little tricky. I'll make the deadline clear in the OP.

Not to worry good Sir, I am not concerned about it at all.Just like doing endurance,,,,,its requires more focus for longer periods.
