We do "official" enduro practice tonight if you want to try it out @bigbeefytaco Lobby should be open around 9PM EST and we usually do a 50-60 min mock race

Forecast says rain for tomorrow so I might actually get to participate, which means I'll definitely want to get some practice in. I'll plan on opening a lobby around 8PM EST, with a 60-minute mock race starting at 9PM EST.

As @SAMHAIN85 is specifically using this event as practice for his FIA race this coming Saturday, and this hasn't been finalized - I am advocating that BoP be TURNED ON for this event.

The Viper drives far differently with BoP off, and in this circumstance we are mimicking an FIA event - no sense not mimicking it in it's entirety.

Sounds good to me. I’ll be sure to have BoP on in practice tonight.

Yes agreed turn bop on for this one! + I'd like to know all of Sam's possible strategies in case he's in my room for FIA

Will BOP be used again tonight? or was that just for last night?

This week's race combo selected by SAMHAIN85 was to simulate one of the FIA races this week. Because those races used BoP they elected to turn that on for this week's race, as it will properly represent what he's driving in the FIA race.

Side-note: Without BoP the Viper has 678HP. In terms of power that's more of a TransAm car than GT3. Could be interesting on Sunday but controller users might have throttle control issues.

I'm confused. Why would we use BoP when we're all driving the same car? Excuse my ignorance.
Asked to provide Clarification as to HP for this evening's event. Pit Strategies may well be different when driving with lower HP than the Stock HP.

I had throttle control issues with the BoP

@thracerviewr
@TEX36

BoP will be turned on for tonight's race.
SAMHAIN85 is driving the Viper in the manufacturer series, he has a chance to do very well in this series, potentially even win among all Dodge drivers in the Americas region. For anyone who's driven the FIA events they know how hard the competition is.

Given that we allow the driver selecting the format to choose the tire/fuel wear settings to whatever they want, and it was SAMHAIN85's selection this week - it stands to reason that when he asked for BoP to be turned on for tonights race, it wasn't much of a stretch. While tonights race won't be a perfect replica of Saturday's FIA event because the distance is obviously different - it will give SAMHAIN85 plenty of practice using the same tire and fuel wear settings.

There was also discussion about opening up the car selection so that people could use whichever gr.3 car they wanted so other people driving on Saturday's FIA race could use their manufacturer cars too, but we decided against that.

I understand this isn't normal, I would like to think we would cater our decision in this matter to what the majority of drivers are in favor of. Obviously for tonight we will be leaving BoP on, but in the future if the majority of us are strongly against having BoP on - we can agree to not have it on in the future.

Here was my thought process behind my selection:

After the race last Tuesday I was informed I would be next up to pick. Malevolent asked if I had anything in mind and I told him I'd probably be picking Interlagos.

Fast forward to the next day when the FIA season started, and while looking at the schedule they too would be running Interlagos for one of their events.

I decided to mimick the exact settings for the upcoming FIA race on 6/30 and ultimately kill 2 birds with 1 stone. A new combo for our next race here in the Enduro series, as well as a 90 min "practice" for the upcoming FIA event.

I told Brad and Malevolent before I made my pick official that I thought itd be an interesting idea to allow BoP be turned on and allow any Gr.3 car to be run (to cater to those that also want to practice for the FIA event. We have a few drivers here that also compete in FIA, but not everyone signed with Dodge like I did) The problem with that is it completely changes our format here, since we would no longer be doing a one-make race. It was just an idea for a one-off.

With BoP turned on it doesn't really change things too much - we are all using the same specs, just like any traditional SNAIL event. It just is an added bonus for those that care about FIA.

OK. It sorta sucks because I didn't practice using it so I'm not sure whether the strategy I came up with makes any sense now. BUT it's just a game, I'll have fun anyway and I do want @SAMHAIN85 to become the champ so I'll just mope in silence ;)

In the future if BoP is on, I will make sure it is made clear from the beginning of the track announcement. We didn't really decide on BoP being turned on until halfway through the day yesterday.
Sorry about that.

Hopefully you didnt spend too much time on it. I did see you in a private lobby after our practice ended.

From what I gathered last night:

Fuel usage short shifting: 10% per lap
Fuel usage max revs: 13ish%

RS's will last you maybe 2 or 3 laps until they completely fall off.

RHs will last a good 7-8 laps.

Didn't try RMs

Way to be humble  I'm genuinely impressed though how you, kgffy, and other controller users can hold your own with the more powerful cars.

The controller has certain disadvantages, and some minor advantages.
The throttle range on the controller is much more fine, so it's easier to accidentally overdo it - that being said it requires you to adjust your driving style to have a lot less throttle feathering especially in cars where snap oversteer is a problem.

It's much easier to catch oversteer and counter steer with a controller, however it's also easier to cause that oversteer if you're pushing the limit.

The major advantage of a wheel is the steering angles being much more smooth, and a shifter for the street cars.

Still wondering how to pass (or get passed by) a Controller Car without getting Damage from the side-to-side adjustments in steering.
Some are very smooth - others are more pronounced in the steering movements.
