I ran full out on RH for 3 laps never changing to 2nd gear but maybe once or twice. The first tank of gas (3 laps) of which 1 lap was with minor damage. The 2nd tank was same. Then, since I new I would have to pit with 1 lap I just pitted early and broke it up into 2 lap pit 2 lap.

I think I did a total of 2 1/2 laps with minor damage. And as mentioned before I think the only place it really killed was the 2 long straights. Lost about 4-5mph on the finishing straight.
 
Knowing you have to do one lap pit stop if you choose to do the rest full out stretched to three laps, it might be a good strategy to do your first lap on the softest tire and try to get in front of as many as you can and make a gap. Try to make them go two laps if you can and you'll have a cushion for later.

Start of lap 7? I was 18 seconds back from Mike in P1, and by the time I got to the fast section before the carousel I cut it down to 11. I lost concentration for a split second and ran off with significant engine and aero damage. I finished the lap +40 seconds slower than my normal time and limped back to the pits where I was forced to change up my pit strategy.

This is all new to me and I've been loving it so far.

Sorry about possibly? causing you to go off track at the last turn before the long straight. I didn't get that corner well and cut too far inside, massive weight shift caused my car to bounce off track and I did all I could not to swerve back onto the track - didn't know exactly where you were.

I'm also a fan of starting reverse from previous week.

Yes and no, if you can get around them in the GP section your good - but if you get onto the Nurb you're more than likely going to be wasting your RS tires sitting behind somebody on harder tires, at one point P3 was behind me with fresh soft tires and I was on my last lap of RH tires, he was stuck there for 4(ish) minutes because there just aren't many passing opportunities on the track.

Its all good, that was when my car had the aero damage and Mike had just passed me leading into that turn. I was trying too hard to make sure to keep up with him so he could tow me down the straight away. It wasnt your fault, just me overdriving it.

The SNAIL Endurance Series is a weekly event to showcase your skills in managing fuel, tire wear, and fatigue.

Tires Allowed:
Gr. 1/2/3/4 - RH, RM, or RS
N* - SH, SM, SS
Gr. X - TBD​

(Everything else is the same as normal/Sunday night racing)


Tuesday Night Schedule

9:00 (EST) - Room Opens
9:30 - 11:00 - Race
The starting order will be reverse grid from the previous week's results, with all new comers starting in the front​


Car/Track Selection

The car/track combo will be chosen by the previous week's winner. If the previous week's winner chose the previous week's combo, the choice goes to the previous week's second place finisher.

Don't over-complicate stuff. Pick a set time for qualifying for the week at a track. And stick to it. Don't care if you're 1/2 lap in or rounding the last corner. When the timer is up qualifying is OVER. Worked just fine for Sunday nights on GT6.

DP isn't going to race with us here. He is just beating a dead horse with wanting wheel-to-wheel racing. I'd be willing to bet if next weeks race was at Tsukuba he'd come up with some excuse to miss that one as well. And even if he did show up to race, I'd be willing to bet even more that he isn't going to finish the race.

It doesn't matter. Your reputation is well known and you haven't show much, if anything, to prove any change to your behavior. The best thing you can do at this point is shut your mouth and prove people wrong while being quiet about it. People's perception of you will not change quickly but if you put the time in and make a genuine effort to change and not try and advertise it, some will come around in due time.
 
Back to the endurance at hand.

@BradESPN do you want to add the super softs in for this week? Just to spice up the strategies a little bit. I’m still a fan of possibly changing the fuel multiplier. Just trying to help out the strats... as for the qualifying times I think that at “Nurburgring” only week set it to 20 minutes as long as the car has crossed the line then you are allowed that lap... then for all other tracks it’s when the time runs out. Just for the simple fact it takes 9 minutes to run a lap at the ring.....

Though I’m also liking the reverse grid idea as well. Then we can start at the normal time without that new 15 minute break idea.

Yeah the break idea was to try and ensure people ample time to smoke pee grab a drink etc before a committed 1.5hrs without cutting into their qually time.
 
@spidermonkey i hear you i wouldnt mind cutting the break in order to start at 930(est) also not being the ring this week has plenty of time for qually. Although in my observation reverse grid seems to work for most so far?
 
Whatever changes we decide to make this week - I think we should limit it to 1 change and test it for at least 2 weeks before we change anything else.

Starting reverse grid based on previous weeks has a couple benefits, it solves any issue with qualifying problems - and means we don't have to qualify for 30 minutes. I'm not a huge fan of adding new drivers directly to the front though, unsure how to solve this problem - what if a genuinely fast driver shows up and gets a large advantage simply by not having raced the week before?

Adding in RSS, with the current tire wear where it is (x3) would RSS really make all that much difference? They're going to wear out very quickly, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try it, but I think for RSS to really be beneficial we need tire wear at x1 (or maybe x2). Look at the Nurb for example, RS were almost ready for a change after 1 lap (9 minutes of driving) and were getting very worn out after 2 laps (18 minutes of driving). That would mean that after 15~ minutes of driving in RSS you'd have similar tire wear. That's 5 pit stops in a 90 minute race to keep RSS on your car.

I think messing with the multipliers this week would be interesting, maybe keep tire wear where it is, but bump up fuel consumption to x5?
 
Could run 2 classes and split up the races. 40 minutes in the gr.3 and then 10 minute break and then 40 minutes in the gr.4. I’d grid is full that is. Like swap

Yeah, let's stick with the qually/timing change for this week, and then start on the multi-class/SS tires stuff in a week or two.

With the dropping of the qualifier, we have two options:

Option A - Open room at 9 (EST) start race at 9:30
Option B - Open room at 8:30 (EST) start race at 9:00

I really don't care either way, but I know @Neutty (and probably others) are sacrificing sleep for SNAIL, so I'm leaning towards option B.

Option B works for me.
More time for Fortnite after my endurance race - or maybe it'll be used for practicing for Nations on Wednesday night........
 
I haven't had a chance to join week 1 bc of work week 2 bc of internet but I would like to get in and have a go at this series my vote is for A but completely understand if yall choose option B
 
Ill also put in for option B so i can duo with @Sean Renon on fortnite haha and ending at 1030 on a tuesday night shouldnt be to bad for anyone eastcoast.
