I was thinking about this, and had some more thoughts.

Option 1. Run an 8 week season, the same driver cannot choose a new combo in an 8 week season. This would give plenty of drivers an opportunity to be the person who chooses a combo, seeing as we're doing endurance races it's a big reward choosing a combo. 4 weeks doesn't really give many opportunities for middle of the pack drivers to have a chance.

Option 2. Run an 8 week season and keep track of points, give the track/car selection to the highest placed driver in the points series who hasn't already chosen.

Either way, imo 8 weeks is a good amount, as it means that everyone won't choose - but it won't be a revolving door of the fastest 4-5 guys.

I like option 2 as it rewards drivers who participate every week.

I agree - did you get full results from yesterday? I can update my spreadsheet and starting next week we can go with that way of choosing who gets to decide?

I have to say, I did have a lot of fun. Since it was my first enduro, my learning curve was greater. I had to remember to keep an eye out for someone coming up from behind. How someone pops back on the track from the pits almost got me a couple times. I think I ran across somesones bumber one time.

Flags would be great if we could. I came up to a spinout with two people and slowed to get by and I got rearended. I don't think they saw until to late. Working how to letting someone by without slowing myself or them was challenging. I do like flashing the lights only for lapping someone.

Was also my first experience driving with damage on. I slid off early and tapped the left front to get the damage indicator to start blinking. It definitely made the car pull to the left a little (which helped on the LH turns) but didn't really hurt the laptimes I was expecting to run so I went my whole first stint that way. What little strategy I had did go out the window after my second stop when I took real damage and had to pit again.

Overall, FUN and I hope I can make it each week. 👍👍

Sounds like you guys had a good race. Ill have to catch the video later. My ps4 ended up over heating 30 minutes into my run so if i had joined you guys i still would have dnf'd... hope to have this resolved next week as i plan on entering.

Also with flag rules on this should be ebough to indicate a spin or wreck and not ruin the race. Usually wrecked parties will ghost your able to pass them no problem. If you pass another non ghosted cat thats when youll recieve a penalty.

In my opinion, if somebody is lapping you - or going much faster (different tire strategy) there are two good options.

1. Stick to the driving line, allow them to go for the overtake - but give them room when they do.
2. On a straight, pull off the driving line, signal to the side you want the driver to overtake you on.

However, pulling off on technical sections just confuses me because I'm not sure if you're letting me by or just taking a weird line or having car troubles or what.

Also - if you get serious engine damage and are limping back to pits, 4 ways on and stay well off the driving line.

I'm pretty sure we don't have ghosting on at all - even if somebody is wrecking.

I think with flags on itll ghost wrecked cars regardless on or not i can absolutely be mistaken of course as not a setting im familiar with.

Since we've never discussed it up until today about blue flags, heres my take.

As the person on the lead lap about to lap someone, you have a responsibility to make sure to eventually make the pass clean. You cant just jam yourself into a situation where you feel like you have a right to pass at any time you please, and that they should yield for you at any time. You cant just divebomb someone because you feel like you've got carte blanche being on the lead lap. It needs to be handled with care especially with the sim damage we are running. There are smart places on any track to make the pass, and then there are dumb ones.

On the other hand if you're the person being lapped, you shouldn't make it too difficult for the guy on the lead lap to pass you either. Afterall it is not for position. Its one thing if you're running the same pace as the leader and the leader is not gaining any ground on you and is maintaining lets say a 2-3 second gap. There is no need for you to pull over and let them pass, just maintain your pace and continue on.

Its another if the lead lap guy is right on your bumper for multiple turns and has been attempting to get around you. Just let him by at that point as you're now interfering with his race and are an obstacle. There was one instance last night where I had to get around someone "the hard way".

Theres not a cut and dry one size fits all rule when it comes to blue flags. Theres a lot of other factors that could come into it (for example the leader coming up on 2 cars that are battling with eachother for position. Now what?)

I did use my high beams a few times like Tex mentioned earlier. If I recall correctly Tex, I used them not when I instantly got behind you - but waited to flash you as a way to signal "ok Im attempting to pass now". And you gave way perfectly.

It all comes down to common courtesy and everyone treating everyone with respect on track at all times.

My 2¢

Be nice if GTS had a lobby chat. Persons could call yellow at there position or leader coming up on lap traffic could inform them of such.

Regarding vocal chat during races:
Being easily distracted, I need to have a singular focus in order to stay on the track. The chatter breaks that concentration - and usually miss the next turn, etc.

Sooo, I'll be running "silent & isolated" all the time.

I was thinking about joining the group chat next week - part of me thinks the no talking will help me, part of me thinks the talking will help - worth giving it a try during the pre-season anyways.

I mean, I haven't managed to put together a race without major wrecks yet - so couldn't hurt trying something new.

Yeah..I couldn't bring myself to pick a Gr car. Tested a lot of N cars. This car seems to be a middle ground car. Not to slow and not to slippery. Though this track can reach and touch any car. Some of the cars I tested were the 911 and Camaro (too much work for 1.5hrs) and even the raptor...boy that thing would put you to sleep. Though I will not knock it if someone else goes there.

Any any case it will be fun.

Yeah sorry, yesterday was the wife's birthday and she wasn't overly happy with me racing to begin with. Although she is an understanding wife when it comes to my sim racing, I was tempted by lack of clothing and opted for that instead of finishing the race.

I think when the regular season starts next week we should start a couple new threads, one for race discussion - and one that is only for what the race is each week as well as a place to keep track of the points.

That's not really necessary. @BradESPN has the first two posts of this thread. Post 1 is good at telling everyone what it is and Post 2 can be a running schedule/points data with edits as we go. We can continue with discussion as the thread goes on.

So are we looking at sport tires with this combo?

N400 is borderline for me.
I think N500+ should be racing tires, and N300 and below should be sport tires.

In this case, I think we should use sport tires, but I'm open for discussion.

In the OP I said N* should be sport tires, but should we change it to be at the discretion of whoever chooses the combo?

There are some N* cars that I think would be a nightmare on sports ( the 67 nova, or mach forty for example), but can go with whichever direction you guys choose. Leaving it up to the person choosing will probably be fine.
