I'm almost done moving, hopefully I can get back on soon. I definitely am more comfortable with endurance racing then the short sprint races. Also 8th overall isn't bad considering how many races I missed.

Awesome - let us know when you’re ready and I’ll place you in the appropriate division as Provisional.

As I've hinted at a bit over the last few days, we'll be making a few changes for Season 2. I'm going to post these updates separately to make it easier for everyone to reply with questions/concerns. I'll use this post for the first update:

Adding a Second Division

Division 1:

Division 2:
As you can probably tell, splitting up the divisions was pretty easy - if you're D1 in Sunday SNAIL, you're D1 in Endurance SNAIL. This won't be necessarily true in upcoming seasons as we'll have our own promotion/relegation process (still TBD what that will look like exactly).

There are only 7 drivers per division as of right now, which wouldn't be ideal on race night. But don't worry, if we have 16 or fewer drivers committed to racing on a given Tuesday, we'll simply combine lobbies. Each division will be awarded points as if the other division didn't exist (e.g. if a D1 driver finishes first and a D2 driver finishes second, each driver will be awarded points as if they finished first).

One more thing - each division will be driving a different car. This will ideally lead to less unnecessary fighting for position between divisions (in the event that we have to combine lobbies), and will also make our series a little more realistic.

New Combo Selection Procedure

Since we now have two divisions, and each division will driver a separate car, we’ll need a new combo selection procedure. We’ll have two prizes:

Prize A: You get to choose the track and car of your division
- Awarded to the driver with the most points in the current season (regardless of division)
- Prize A can only be won by a driver once per season

Prize B: You get to choose the car for your division
- Awarded to the driver who won their division’s race
- Prize B cannot be claimed by a driver from the same division as the winner of Prize A
- Prize B can be won multiple times in the same season

Note that the Prize B winner will be a limited in his/her choice of car. Since we may need to combine lobbies on race day, we’ll need the cars driven by each division to play nicely together - specifically, the car chosen by the Prize B winner must:
- Use the same tire compounds and tire/fuel wear as the car chosen by the Prize A winner
- Allow for safe/easy passing (i.e. the lap times by each car should be roughly 5 seconds apart)

Here’s a table (that could probably use some tweaking) to use as a guideline for the Prize B car:

[Prize A Car] -> [Prize B Car]
Gr. 1 -> Gr. 3, Gr. 4, or Gr. B
Gr. 2 -> Gr. 3, Gr. 4, or Gr. B
Gr. 3 -> Gr. 1 or Gr. 2
Gr. 4 -> Gr. 1 or Gr. 2
Gr. B -> Gr. 1 or Gr. 2
Gr. X -> TBD
N1000 -> N600 or N700
N900 -> N500 or N600
N800 -> N400 or N500
N700 -> N300, N400, or N1000
N600 -> N200, N300, N900, or N1000
N500 -> N100, N200, N800, or N900
N400 -> N100, N700, or N800
N300 -> N600 or N700
N200 -> N500 or N600
N100 -> N400 or N500

Starting Grid Will No Longer Be Reverse Grid

As some of you have unfortunately experienced first hand, there is a significant problem to starting races with the slowest drivers up front. Impatience by faster drivers and inexperience by slower drivers causes problems. We’re hoping to lessen the occurrence of this by changing up the grid order.

We’ll still be using a rolling start (which has helped), but we’ll now base the starting grid order on the current overall standings. Specifically, the grid order will now be:

[Division 1 Driver With Most Current Points]

[Division 1 Driver With Least Current Points]
[Division 2 Driver With Most Current Points]
...
[Division 2 Driver With Least Current Points]
[New/Interested Driver Who Joined Lobby First]

[New/Interested Driver Who Joined Lobby Last]

Podium Bonus

During Season 1 (and during Sunday SNAIL), finishing on the podium has always been satisfying, but didn’t actually mean anything as far as points are concerned. For Season 2, let’s change that. Here’s how the points will breakdown on race night:

1st - 25
2nd - 21
3rd - 17
4th - 13
5th - 12
6th - 11
...
16th - 1

Note that this isn't exactly the procedure we'll be using for week 1 of Season 2. Initially we were thinking that the driver choosing the track would wait until the other driver has chosen the "primary" car. Under this assumption @thracerviewr chose Kyoto - Yamagiwa + Miyabi II as the track, and I chose the following as the primary car:

NISSAN MOTUL AUTECH GT-R 2016 (GT500)
Tires: RH, RM, and RS
Fuel/Tire Wear: Default (3x for both)

We'll still keep those selections (I'll forfeit Prize A for the rest of the season since I got to choose the car without restrictions - @thracerviewr is still eligible for Prize A), and @thracerviewr is on deck to choose the car for D2.

To be clear, here are the combos for week 1 of Season 2:

Division 1:
Track:
Kyoto Driving Park: Yamagiwa + Miyabi II @ 1900 Clear
Car:
NISSAN MOTUL AUTECH GT-R 2016 (GT500)
Tires: RH, RM, and RS
Fuel/Tire Wear: Default (3x for both)
Division 2:
Track:
Kyoto Driving Park: Yamagiwa + Miyabi II @ 1900 Clear
Car:
TBD by @thracerviewr
Tires: RH, RM, and RS
Fuel/Tire Wear: Default (3x for both)

Everything sounds good - just one bit of housekeeping.

If a new/interested/part time driver joins, and is either already apart of D1 SNAIL, or it is known well enough that he/she is D1 speed, I would assume he/she would start at the back of D1 correct?

I am really looking forward to racing you guys :), will be nice to get out of FIA and into some fun Community Leagues
Check out my FIA challenge thread if you are interested. Snail drivers are the best in the business and clean racers could make it enjoyable again.

As far as the endurance this is a great league and we have a lot of fun. Some of us chat in a party and have a great time with some laughs.

I think that is a good safe bet. Especially if they are in a faster car. Wouldn’t be safe for everyone if they had to start st the back of the line!!

I will try to get my selection posted here before midnight PST.

Wow! Big changes but sounds exciting. I'd like to sign up for Tuesday. Being a middle D3 driver on Sundays, I'd assume (and be fine with) Division 2 (endurance). Thanks

You’re in - I’ll update the first post when I get back to a laptop.

Are you committing to the whole season (6 of 8), or just this Tuesday?

I want to commit but my tennis team plays Tuesdays and I never know if I'm scheduled until the week of. That's why I always ask for a spot in here.

A little later than promised, but here's my choice:

Division 2 Car:
Volkswagen Beetle Gr. 3
