Confirming for next round.

Wow, while sitting down to some morning coffee, I watched race 2 from last night, and what a treat. Battles up and down the grid order, the look of these race cars, and the sounds....I think we nailed it on that V8 SuperCars vibe. While not my best showing so far, I did have a great battle with Duc for nearly 2/3rds of the race up to the finish line, and the battles up front looked to be exciting. Did I mention the sound of these cars on the replays...lol. Also, the top three in preliminary standings after two events are only separated by 5 points, and we already have 16 drivers confirmed for Event #3 at Fuji. Very satisfied with this new series, everyone's interest, and committment. Great racing everyone.

Reminder, if anyone needs to file an IR, the deadline is Monday, 11:59pm est.

Post Race report will be out this week. Next event Conditions and updated driver regulations have already been noted in the first and second posts. Have a great weekend everyone.

Confirm for next round. If i have the same issue as the 1st 2 rounds itll prolly be my last outing - dont want to hold grid spots if i never end up actually racing

I am going to have to withdrawal my confirmation for Fuji Speedway. I am going to be in Las Vegas for a 3 day music concert. When I was looking at my return flight I was looking the departure time not the arrival time. I am not sure I will be home on time to make the race. My apologies.

Event #2 / Race #1 Recap

Event 2 Spotter Guide.webp

Preamble:
This being my 4th season on the Snail Friday Night Series and I couldn't recall a stop at Suzuka Circuit. So into the archives I went and it turns out it's the first Event at Suzuka in the GT7 era. The series last came here during the 2021 Porsche GT3 SuperCup Challenge. The only drivers I recognize from that event are @llNovall, @JDMKING13, @Noob01_lmdead, @Yugofan and @Phlano099.

We kick off our Japanese leg of the season and for the first time since early last season, we have a full deck of 16 cars taking the grid.

Qualifying Table:
Qualifying Table 1.webp

Qualifying Table 2.webp

These times are both impressive and depressing. I had to reach deep for my 2:00.611 and that's still a whole 1.5 seconds off the Pole time.

@bublyman's 1:59.111 was good enough to claim the extra point. He'll be joined by @Kgffy on the front row. @socalnatv and @Bologna_Duc will start on row 2 and @Worst_Driver and @Noob01_lmdead will be on the 3rd row.

Event #2 / Race #1

LAP #1:
For the first time in 5.5 years, it's lights out from the Suzuka Circuit. The grids have been experiencing weirdness with stalled cars and for this race it was @Crunchy Taco that stalled. @llNovall was quick enough to swerve left (pictured below) and avoid him but @DRD_Niagara wasn't as lucky. I gave him a bump that seemed to put his car in gear and off we went.
SHARE_20260331_0348420.webp

LAP #1 - Lead Change:
By the time they got to Turn 1, @Kgffy managed to put himself ahead of @bublyman and take the lead but it was short lived as @bublyman got by him just prior to the braking zone of the spoon.
SHARE_20260331_0349030.webp

Unfortunately, late in Lap #1 we once again lost @ZoomZoomMf who was forced to retire the car due to a faulty connections. Hope we can get those issues sorted out @ZoomZoomMf.

LAP #2:
@DRD_Niagara was running in 12th position and opted for a line between Turns 1 and 2 that @cesarr64 and @JakeMk8 wanted no part of.
SHARE_20260331_0349210.webp

LAP #3:
Approaching the chicane on Lap #3, @Worst_Driver touched a little grass on both sides which upset his JAAGG. He'd end up sliding across the chicane. Pictured below, running from 2nd to 6th are @Kgffy, @socalnatv, @Bologna_Duc, @Worst_Driver and @Noob01_lmdead.
SHARE_20260331_0349380.webp

LAP #4:
@Crunchy Taco lost a little control on the exit of the esses and would hit the barrier and slide across the track. There would be some accidental contact with a few other cars including @Worst_Driver and @cesarr64. @CdnSweetTee took evasive action to get away clean but @JakeMk8 wasn't so lucky.
SHARE_20260331_0349550.webp

LAP #5:
A really entertaining lap between @Noob01_lmdead and @Bologna_Duc pictured here entering the chicane from the 4th and 5th positions. @Yugofan, @JDMKING13 and @DublDee are in the background running 6th through 8th.
SHARE_20260331_0350140.webp

At the conclusion of LAP #5, @JakeMk8 also retired the car.

LAP #8:
Mid-way through the race, @bublyman still leads and if anybody has a chance at catching him, it's got to be @socalnatv. They're about to wrap up their 8th lap and asides from the very first lap, @bublyman and @socalnatv have somehow logged all their laps in the 1:59's.
SHARE_20260331_0350310.webp

LAP #9:
In the pre-race chat @llNovall stated how good it was to see @Worst_Driver take the grid. He got exactly what he wished for as a combination of pressure, and @llNovall's tires getting a little dirty led to a spin entering the hairpin on LAP #9.
SHARE_20260331_0350490.webp

LAP #12:
@Kgffy has been having a great race, he's been running in 3rd for quite some time but has fallen off a bit and is feeling the pressure from @Noob01_lmdead, @Bologna_Duc and @Yugofan through the esses. He'd give up a couple positions later in the lap.
SHARE_20260331_0351090.webp

LAP #15:
@Crunchy Taco's race didn't go as planned therfore testing some new lines through the chicane as prep work for Race #2.
SHARE_20260331_0351250.webp

In reality, he's demonstrating good racecraft and aware that the leaders are coming up behind him and takes himself out of the action as to not interfere. A true Snail.

LAP #16:
When I can't frame the 2nd place car into the winner's picture, it's a dominant win. While technically not a wire-to-wire win, @bublyman converts his pole to his first win of the season. With the exception of LAP #9, when he posted a 2:00.090, each of his laps were in the 1:59's. Incredible. He's joined on the podium by @socalnatv and @Noob01_lmdead.
SHARE_20260331_0351440.webp

But it wasn't enough for @bublyman who also claims the extra points for his Fastest Lap with a 1:59.065 which just edges out @Yugofan's 1:59.154.

Event #2 / Race #1 Broadcast:

Final Thoughts:
  • This the 3rd race of the season and @socalnatv has bagged 3 podiums. He and @bublyman we're on another planet in this one.
  • So the preparations are underway for the next event at Fuji. Should you want to take a break from that, come on out on a Sunday for some stress free racing in SNail's Sunday Night Spec League.
  • No promises on timelines for the recap for Race #2. But it's on my mind.
That's how I interpreted Event #2 / Race #1

If last nights practice is any indication of what’s coming up in the next event, it’s going to be epic. Super close battles and even closer fastest lap times among the 3 different cars that ran. Strengths and weaknesses of these different cars was on full display and yet we still managed to keep close lap after lap.

So early in the prep time for Fuji and I’m looking forward to more of these practice rooms. Just need to see a few more people get involved in these lobbies.

Important PSA: New SNAIL series starting this Tuesday, courtesy of our own @Dragonwhisky and hosted by @Oshawa-Joe

Its open to all, no need to submit a qualifier and enroll in sunday night’s racing. We’ll run the two time trials that are in sport mode every tuesday. Spec racing of course.
Come and join the fun if you wish, the more the merrier.

Event #2 / Race #2 Recap

Event 2 Spotter Guide.webp

Preamble:
Grab your laptop or tablet, a coffee or a beer and relive the excitement of Event #2 / Race #2. It's not until I go pull pictures and do the broadcast that I get a sense of what happened out on the track that didn't involve me. But the last few laps contained quite a few lengthy battles right up until the end so I apologize if the broadcast jumps around quite a bit. I tried to give each battle its due.

As usual, the grid is set to reverse order and. It seems we lost @ZoomZoomMf who is still battling mechanical issues and had to withdraw for Race #2. That means we'll have @JakeMk8 next to @Crunchy Taco on the front row. @CdnSweetTee and @cesarr64 on the 2nd row and @llNovall and @DRD_Niagara on the 3rd row.

Event #2 / Race #2:

LAP #1 - Lights Out:
A tough start for @JakeMk8. His car stalls when the lights go out and his favorable place on the grid is gone before the race even starts. @CdnSweetTee seemed dialed-in as she was quick to avoid @JakeMk8's car. @Crunchy Taco assumes the early lead.
SHARE_20260410_0454020.webp

PD needs to make the fix to this issue which seems totally random but it ruins peoples races. We've been getting this in the Snail Spec League also.

LAP #1 - Lead Change:
@Crunchy Taco's lead wouldn't last long. Maybe a combination of cold tires and he may have gotten the left side dirty exiting Turn 2 but he'd spin into the wall on the right side of the track.
@cesarr64 now leads.
SHARE_20260410_0454330.webp

LAP #1 - Lead Change:
@cesarr64's lead would last a little longer but not quite until sector 3. His AMG would exit Turn 9 a little too wide and costs him positions.
@DRD_Niagara now leads.
SHARE_20260410_0454520.webp

LAP #2 - Lead Change:
@DRD_Niagara turn at the front wouldn't last long either. There's was contact between @DRD_Niagara and @Worst_Driver entering Turn 1 which would send them towards the sand. @llNovall would also end up wide but avoid disaster. A courteous @Worst_Driver would wait for @DRD_Niagara. Both would rejoin the action in 11th and 12th spot.
@Kgffy finds himself leading the race.
SHARE_20260410_0455080.webp

LAP #3:
After the hectic opening laps, things settle down and the race is on. @Kgffy still leads, @DublDee, @JDMKING13, @Noob01_lmdead and @Yugofan currently occupy the top 5 spots.
SHARE_20260410_0455250.webp

LAP #3:
Close one here. Not sure if the picture captures the moment fairly but it looks like @Yugofan missed his breaking point towards the chicane on Lap #3. He zips by @Noob01_lmdead and @JDMKING13 at high speed and skillfully manages to avoid @DublDee and steers his car off track.
SHARE_20260410_0455420.webp

LAP #5:
A mishap on Lap #5 entering Turn 9. @Noob01_lmdead would make contact with @JDMKING13, running 3rd at the time. @JDMKING13 would end up in the sand and rejoin the race in 9th.
SHARE_20260410_0455590.webp

LAP #6:
@Kgffy and @DublDee are still running 1-2. The action is hottest among positions 3 through 7 right now. @Bologna_Duc slides too deep between Turns 1 and 2 from the 4th position but does well to catch his car. Disaster avoided but he drops to 7th.
SHARE_20260410_0456220.webp

LAP #9:
@DublDee, still running 2nd, dressed in his special edition "Land of the Rising Sun" livery is feeling a rise in temperature at the hairpin of Lap #9.
SHARE_20260410_0456400.webp

If you put work towards developing a race (or leg of season) specific livery, it deserves to be featured in my recaps.

LAP 14:
Fast forward to Lap #14, lots going on here. @Kgffy still leads but it's @bublyman chasing him down now and is taking chucks of time out of his lead. @DublDee now has @Noob01_lmdead and @socalnatv on him and would love to conserve his spot on the podium. @llNovall is dealing with @Bologna_Duc and will continue to do so until the end. And not to be ignored in the background is @JDMKING13 and @Yugofan battling from the 8th and 9th positions.
SHARE_20260410_0457100.webp

LAP #16:
With half a lap to go, things are tight at the front. @Kgffy can't wait for this to end. His exit out of the hairpin on the final lap is shaky at best but in typical @Kgffy fashion, he straightens out just before @bublyman can get by.
And pictured in the background, @socalnatv has gotten by @Noob01_lmdead on the straight of Lap #14 and his Corvette will try to run down @DublDee's Corvette with only a few sectors to go.
SHARE_20260410_0457260.webp

LAP #16:
At one point, I thought @Kgffy had an unsurmountable lead but @bublyman chipped away at it and it ended closer than expected.

But @Kgffy hangs on for the win, his first since Event #4 Race #1 at Mount Panorama during the 2024 season. He's joined by @bublyman and @DublDee on the podium.
SHARE_20260410_0457480.webp

As for the Fastest Lap Bonus, it's claimed by @Crunchy Taco who's time of 1:59.065 bests @Bologna_Duc's time of 1:59.134.

Fun Fact - @Crunchy Taco's 1:59.065 ties @bublyman's 1:59.065 in Race 1 for the fastest lap of the Event.

Final Thoughts:
  • @Yugofan and @Worst_Driver made their season debut in this Event.
  • @bublyman clearly the fastest driver in Event #2. And he manages a double-podium for Event #2. (@socalnatv managed the feat in Event #1 - Yas Marina)
  • I'm using a different angle to plug the Snail Sunday Spec League. Help is needed to vote off the damn Kart that will be featured again this Sunday for the 4th consecutive week. @bublyman threw a curveball last month in making it's selection and somehow my fellow Sunday Night driver's have refused to vote it out. (Turns turns out @bublyman also knows how to drive a Kart - he's won 5 of 6 races featuring it). So get yourselves on the active drivers list and race Combo 1 on Sunday (hopefully stay the night) but don't forget to type "Vote 1" in the chat before logging off.

Entry received and welcome to the series. Please offer another drivers number, as 88 has already been taken. If you view the 2nd or 3rd Post in the thread for the driver roster/driver profile page, you can view what numbers have been selected. Let me know.

I did want to highlight that our racetime of Friday, 9pm est will be 5am, Saturday your time. Please confirm that this will work for you. Also, with the regional distance, we will need to confirm firm connection stability prior to you being cleared for racenight. Any issues of connection stability would result in being asked to resign your spot on racenight. If solid, you'd be good to go.

Now that you entry is submitted, please see tab 3.1 in the first post to build and spec your car, then get going on the Time Trial. All detailed instructions are shown in the first post. Please follow them closely so I can get the best accuracy to establish your driver classing.

Then, feel free to get started on your series livery. Livery requirements are noted in Tab 3.2 of the 1st Post. Please make sure all required decals are present and placed correctly, and that your driver classing color details are correct once established. Again, all instructions are noted in that section. If you need help with a livery, don't hesitate to ask.

Lastly, if available for our next event, Event #3, please confirm your availability. We do currently have a full grid, but if you confirm available, you would be a reserve to likely bump in on race night. In the event you do not make the grid, be sure to confirm ASAP after the event to establish grid priority for the next event(s). This is the process for all events.

If you have any questions, please let me know, and Happy to have you join us.

Love the compliment on my abilities to crash clean…So there’s something I’ve accomplished!

@llNovall So just a quick heads up for race night. We are moving this month and all of our services, including internet, will be transferred on race day, the 24th. They are scheduled to do the internet between 5 and 6 EST so as long as everything goes smooth and no hick-ups, we should be good but I wanted to give you a heads up, just in case.
Obviously I will be posting our status on race night.

Award Recognition
Checkered Flag = Single Race Wins
Track Map Outline = Overall Event Wins

Great 2nd race night in our Gr3 V8+ Supercars. The times and racing were again very close, and I continue to suspect this series could be one of the tightest for average pace and door to door racing. There are plenty of points to highlight, so take a look at the replays...always worth the watch.
Race broadcasts have been made available for viewing, but you can also view the actual in-game replays through the search tag: snailv8sc. Feel free to elaborate on any battle/exchanges you may have shared.
Overall, it was a great night of racing.

Minimal lag/jittering was present across the field, but was overall manageable.

Now for Scoring:
Congratulations to Ridger23 / @bublyman (#7) on the Overall Win. Great work!!

Also, Congratulations to our Top 3 Overall:
1st: Ridger23 / @bublyman (#7)

To maintain accuracy and integrity to this recognition, drivers who choose to add their standing to their car will be required to submit an updated profile picture before each event with their scrutineering tuning sheet. Submissions will be reviewed post event just as I do for the driver regulations.
If a driver forgets to submit the car picture with a standing displayed or has the wrong standing placement displayed , it will result in a 5 point penalty against the overall event score. This has to be in place to ensure that those who want to display their standing, maintains the attention and accuracy for it to be credible.
If choosing to display, be sure your edited livery is correct, accurate, and saved prior to each event. If unsure or not interested in displaying your standing, simply leave it blank or just apply double zeros.
The profile pictures will not be used for the Driver profile page, only for scrutineering to maintain the integrity of this recognition.
Again, this is optional, but if done correctly, it will be a great way to know who is where in the standings as the season unfolds.
