I remember a while ago that in GT2 they were gonna add drag racing, so i guess not, then gt3, nope. So wutever happen to it? I haven't heard nething bout it in gt4

I'm glad it's not in the game. Drag racing is boring. It's worse than racing on ovals. At least then you get two left turns. Drag racing? Nothing.

i think it's kinda addicting, i just don't like how most games do it. they keep your car in neutral before the green light so you can rev all you want then once green the game automatically shifts u to 1st gear, it just kills the reaction part to drag racing

Yeah, it would be pretty dumb to have drag racing without having the tree, making it possible to fault, and showing your reaction time.

Go to the Rumor & Speculation forum. There should be stories about drag racing in GT4. I know, I put one there about 3 weeks ago.

I the October issue of PSM, Yamauchi said that PD was looking into including drag racing in GT4. Do a search for this, you should get some info on it.

well i hope gt4 aint a rush job...
i'll wait for prefection.
as for draging, i dont dress in womens clothes :p

I wouldn't mind it...but I hope they don't make it necessary to complete the game.

well. they already have everything else. circuit, endurance, rally, and now i hear they're adding a D1GP type thing to it due to the drifting craze thats been goin on. i just hope they dont add TOO much and sacrifice the graphics/details like they did with GT2 (graphics were crap!). personally, i think the 400m thing in GT3 is good enough. drag racing is a bit boring to me:)

Drag racing in real life is based on two skills: modulation of the clutch and modulation of the throttle. Everything else is the car.

Since there is no clutch control in any of the GT games, that just leaves the throttle as your only input. Since most people play GT with a digital throttle (on or off), it becomes a pretty dumb proposition since most people can't leverage the only real skill it highlights.

I saw a PS2 game in the store the other day IHRA Drag Racing 2. Has anyone tried it? I think if it is realistic enough it might be OK.

Yes, I bought it because i love all motor sports .But as for graphics it real shat:irked: ,But there is alot of settings you cn do so it kinda mkes up for the poor graphics

No one plays GT3 with digial control's all the buttons on the pad are analog so the harder you press them the harder you acceletate or brake etc, also if PD put drag racing in they have said they would put a clutch in for that, maybe replace the handbrake for the drag race events.

I hope they don't add in a D1GP or whatever it's called thing in...if people want that, buy that Initial D game...

Same for me. I'm not a drag-racing fan, so if it were to be in GT4, it should be in Run & Setting or Free Run in Arcade Mode.

I hope like anything that it is in GT4. Because i spend about 70-80% of my GT3 playing time at the 400m.

I'm addicted to reducing my 1/4 mile times!

It would be a good addition to GT4 if they had an actual drag strip. Some developer's have tried to implement "drag racing" into they're game's, and %100 of them that I have played are garbage in all aspect's of the game.

It look's like the people who make the Need For Speed lineup of game's might be coming out with one that's worth our money. It's called NFS Underground, in some of the picture's it look's like a rehash of Midnight Club 2, but if what I've read is true, it'll be the first REAL DEAL street racing game to hit the scene.
2004 should be a good year... I hope. :)

You dont, Ving?
I look teh sexx0r in a japanese school girl uniform.

OMG!
No, I am teh sexxorz onez in teh french maidz outfittzor!!!

weirdo :p

All I've seen from this looks quite tasteless, but I do admit I'll rent it to see what all the fuss is about.

Speaking from experience, I would say you're missing some.

Drag racing starts at the pits, adjusting your tuning (timing, fuel, suspension, clutch etc)

Then you have to figure out how long to burn your tires for.

The next skill is the hardest, and few are good at this one, Treeing your opponent. Few can cut a good reaction time, and fewer still with consistency. Once you're on the gas go have to be ready to feather the throttle, I had a suprise a few weeks ago where someone left some fluid down the track, and the staff didn't catch it, I had to pedal the gas well into third on slicks.

If you're running a manual, smooth quick shifting will make or break a run (and other things), again this is a skill. Your shift points are another important key.

Get all this right and you will be quick for your car. Do ANYthing wrong, and you can lose .5 of a second pretty easy. For stockish cars that's 5 carlengths, hell .01 is usually what it comes down to in bracket racing.

Not trying to convert any of you over to drag racing, it's either fun or it isnt, just trying to disprove the myth that it's only for no skilled rednecks who only know how to step on the gas.

Drag racing is to road racing what Weight lifters are to Gymnasts. Both are cool to do, But neither would do very well in the other's shoes.

Very well put, jcole. The thing about drag racing that makes it exciting is being there and wrenching the car and running as best you can. It just doesn't translate into a video game very well. I've drag raced in real life, and done brackets, and I'll tell you, a drag racing sim is probably the last thing I'd buy.

I find drag racing exciting because no other motorsport conveys the raw explosion of power that a car is capable of like Drag racing.

Seeing a pro-stock car carry the front wheels 2 inches off the ground for 120 feet is amazing. I agree though, a Sim never really simulates drag racing effectivly...

You don't feel the g forces, your chassis doesnt twist a bit causeing the car to wander... In the sims, your car always goes straight !

Wht would sony even want to put drag racing into the gran turismo series. It is grand Turismo, grand touring...as in road racing....WITH TURNS not straightaways where all that matters is power in grand touring cars ithe suspension is priority and power is secondary. Gran turismo is a great game but why ruin it wit dragg racing

Heh, Mr. Asian dude, there's a reason why you should spell...If you don't want to get banned spell at least so that people can read it.
