Hey that's great, thanks.

I was wondering why I would lose and then have something unlock anyway.

Also, I'm going to be playing this game a ton for a long time to come (since my time is now split between GT, RE4, and SCIII).

In any case though, I'm mostly interested in unlocking the costume elements for the create a character screens.

Having the 1 super cool dude and 1 hot chick will be enough for my custom characters. :guilty:

Just gotta get all those little bits of the costumes unlocked so I can do what I want. :D

On a side note... :dopey:
I beat the first type of single player mode (tales of souls or something) with all of the characters finally. :sly:

Didn't unlock all that much, but in the "quick play" mode I have all characters unlocked (except a maybe a few bonus characters).

I'm gonna have a look at my progress, work on it a bit, then come back and update you all on what I manage.

Until then,
Thanks again,
-Kent

Btw, any extra info about particularly interesting unlockables is greatly appreciated. :sly:

I just got it. I'm trying to get all my creation items, so I can compete with my friend Ken. Dude has storm shadow and snake eyes ninjas, and all this other crap.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

Here is something everyone shuold know about CREATE A SOUL disciplines:

Each class have 5 different disciplines that can be unlocked the more battles you do with that particular class. (win or lose, it counts as a battle) :O

Some of my friends and relatives don't like some of the CAS fighting styles, but you could actually obtain fighting styles of your favorite Soul Calibur characters to use on your CAS! :O In the Item Shop, you can buy what they call:

"Soul of (Fill in Soul Calibur characters name)" You can buy this so that you can use them for your CAS character! :O I will make the list right now! :O

Sword Master:
May use any Discipline

NOTE: I am not sure what it means with the SWORD MASTER. I don't think that it can use ALL the SOULS of every soul calibur characters, but only those non SC character styles.

BTW Kent, which RE4 do you have? :odd:

Gamecube RE4. :D

Also, I haven't had time to explore with my own creations, but I think the Sword Masters can use any of the disiplines.

Like I said, I'm not sure, but when I did earn the Sword Master character base, it opened up all of the styles. 👍

After some time with testing and experimentation I should be able to answer that more appropriately.

Also, thanks McLaren Angel.
I didn't know about the "soul of _____" allowing you to pick up that character's style.
First thing I'm going to do now is spend my 500,000 gold pieces on those upgrades. :p

Might even try to create a few well known characters from other stuff (like kos-mos or storm shadow). :D

At this time though, my chief goal is to create 2 original characters that I really like.
One guy, one girl... Both as described in my earlier post (cool and hot  ).

Thanks agian for the tid-bits... Keep 'em coming if you can.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

You will love Resident Evil 4! 👍 I beat mines with everything unlocked and I still play with it. I also got the PS2 version since I want to be able to use those new weapons and costumes. You also get to play Ada Wong's "Seperate Way". Seperate Ways is 5 mission of Ada during the time Leon's action is taking place in the game.

WAit! Before you go and spend all that gold for armor, items, and weapons... Look here for this exploit for unlimited gold:

Look at the third post!

Exploits are lame.

does this game have online play? I don't think it does, but that would've been pretty sweet.

I got the game along with the Limited Edition Guide! :O 👍

What is the Limited Edition Guide? I was in EB Games today and I saw the regular guide for $20 and the Limited Edition for $30. The Limited Edition was shrink wrapped and bound in cardboard sleeve so I did not get to see what extras are included in it.

Thanks for the link about gold. 👍
May end up using it even though I will have to experiment a bit before I know what they are talking about.

Also, you're a bit late on the RE4 comment.
I've had the Handcannon for a long time now and the game is fully beaten down.
Now I just play it for an action title to fill the void created by only playing 3 games. :sly:

In any case, I'm looking forward to getting back to SC3 but it may have to wait a bit... Flat-out just took over the WRS admin position and set us up for a DB9 arcade mode hotlap at the ring.
Should be fun regardless of how poorly I do in the results. :D

Back later with updates on my game progress but until then, you all have fun playing this and be sure to come back with any goodies you have about what can be unlocked.

Till next time (which will not be long after a new post is made),
Later. :D

I encoded myself the INTRO OF SOUL CALIBUR III 22MB.

Forget about IGN insider & get it here. :P

Have fun.

Here some screenshot of the game & one character I've created...

Oh yeah. I'll have screen shots up soon.

As for Chronicles mode is concerned, Xiaoxin is my HERO. I LOVE the dude.

Hiya! :D :O  MEow! (='.'=)

The difference between the regular and limited guides are the following:

The Limited guide will have a cardboard like material like you saw at the store while the regular have the cover just like the game box.

Once you open up that limited edition guide, you will noticed that the front cover of the book will have pictures sketches of a bunch of CAS characters all over.

Now there is a big treat in the limited edition guide that you should noticed right away when you open up that book. You will see a picture of Soul Calibur just like the one in the front of the cardboard cover, but its a closer picture. Look at the blue orb and you will noticed a...

Soul Calibur III SOUNDTRACK IS SLIPPED IN THERE :O 35 tracks of Soul Caliburation of fun.

You get the Soul Calibur III soundtrack with the Limited Edition Guide? OK, now I MUST buy this! I loved the music in the original Soul Calibur so much I used to leave my Dreamcast on and play the music through the Sound Test in the options menu.

Two times my eyes have popped wide open and my jaw hit the floor when playing Soul Calibur III. Both of those times were the first time I played Kilik's stage and Maxi's stage and heard that sweet familiar music! :D

I'm falling in love with the ninjas. :)

I'll buy the guide just for the art, you know.

Anyway, the only thing that sucks about this game is that you can't create realistic looking black skin tones. :(

edit: HOLY CRAP, I just got a perfect on Abyss with my ninja guy!

edit again: crap, but, I lost. This sucks. We're like totally stalemated, but he always winds up winning. I'm still having a blast, though. He's totally fun to fight.

Lo!

I've gone thru most of the 'tales of souls' section, and it's quite amusing with the whole interactive movies thing.

Though the create-a-character was a nice addition, I feel it could have been way more in depth, sorta like the smackdown series. It was real close, but I wish it was possible to change the body type, skin tone, and facial features.

Other than those few flaws, the game is awesome. I hope for a future SC...if there is one...they fix these things.

You can change skin tone and facial features. However, the facial features are not custom set.

yeshum.

I'm aware of the facial features. just making the individual features custom is something that I miss. Along with the ability to change the size of your fighter. It's a stellar game anyway. 'Twas only a statement.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I too wish the CAS can be as deep as the Smackdown series so that we can't get really creative with our characters. One thing I want Namco to improve on CAS for the next installment is to make those CAS items have the details like the original SC costumes. Everytime the versus screen shows up, I noticed that the CAS clothes don't have the texture like the original SC clothes. Not much wrinkles at all and looks like its fake. Its like you can easily tell that that person is created from CAS, not from Namco itself. I would love it if you can have that feel and look as if your character IS a SC character! :O

Well, my characters look like they're Namco characters. Lol.

SC4 will be next-gen, though. So, I think we won't have to be worrying about any shortcomings as far as create a character is concerned.

This sounds really good. I just hope the engine is tighter then SC2's. That game looked great and played like junk.

Well, I for one think setsuka is good.
Not because of my own use, but because of my own losses.
She whipped my arse a few times with ease, got pretty frustrating too. :irked:

Regarding what Swift said...
I'm not sure just how much they have or have not improved the game's control.

However, at first impression the game did feel a little off. :(

As time goes on I am getting used to it and the game is doing much better.
The thing is, it will take some getting used to for all of the people just picking the game up for the first time.

Once you get into the swing of things it feels good though. 👍

Also, I've created a few more custom characters and I'm quite happy with them. :D
I may come back with the setup for how to make few of them since I can't post screen shots but then again, what's the point in that?
Isn't the point behind custom characters to make your own? :sly:

Well in any case, I'm headed off to run a few laps for the WRS.
Back later on when I've had my fun,
Till then,

hows the ai? ive read its like a good human or cheap, making throws and high attacks pointless.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

The AI in the game can be either good or really dumb. The good part is that they get aggressive at times and can put up quite a challenge. You can die quickly to the AI if you are the kind of person who don't use the block button.

The really dumb part about them is that you can find a move to abuse over and over that the AI don't seem to block or side step. Like some moves that can can do a 2 hit combo or something that hits fast and gives you a quick recovery time to hit again.

Throws aren't useless against the AI from my experiance. The AI have this dumb way of blocking once in I do a series of attack or combo. When I do an attack and then cancel it after the AI block the first hit, some will stay blocked and they are open to a throw. Some may unblock and you get to throw them too. :O

I have only been playing the game under normal difficulty for the Quick Play option so far. I got to say that normal mode alone gives me a good challenge as I get to stage 4 and up. Now I am getting better and better with finding good mix ups and combos to beat the AI easier as I play more.

seems slightly encouraging ... im still waiting for block buster to get some copies in. either tonight or next friday. oi.

The AI is not cheap in any way. Everything can be overcome by the user once you know how the engine works. This is more than explained in the (very, very well put together) tutorial.

I hate when people whine and moan about cheap moves when all they need to do is guard-break. The AI is fantastic and challenging...I see nothing wrong with it.
