of course, it´s just about fun. send me a request, we can play @ weekend. i try to get some more friends of mine to join us :>

Cool. Probably going snowboarding this weekend. Will be out of town till Sunday. We'll get something going after that, OK.

I did a 1:10 with a clean line & a 1:07 with shortcutting. The sectors are already goldished. Need to improve my Nürburgring skillz a bit, dam.

Did my runs with ABS: 1 & sometimes with Traction Control: 1, Stability Control: On or Active Steering: Easy.

But all aids (except ABS) are not very good for the round time. :grumpy:

Keep me posted. Curious to know your progress.

Huge jump from silver to gold. The sectors are tough but after some time you'll get'em. The final challenge once around is brutally tough. So far I can't drive perfect for 7min 5sec's. I'm not quitting until I get gold or my game disintegrates.

I did 6:59 with a bit of margin for improvements, but it's not all up to you, if you encounter with traffic in a crucial corner, it will make you lose 2 seconds easily. If you play fair that's it, meaning you slow down to avoid crashing instead of using them as "support" to corner faster.

Stars mark the spots where traffic is crucial.

I don't know if this helps, but to get gold (I was knocking on the door the way you are now), I went back to re-assess the lines I was taking. There are two spots where I found a lot of time.

Both Wehrseifen and Breidscheid are complex corners, but you can almost treat them like each is a single corner with nearly a constant radius -- if you take the right line through there. If you hit Wehrseifen cleanly, you'll get a clean and fast downhill run to Breidscheid. Getting out of Breidscheid cleanly, then NOT being too anxious through Ex-Muhle, will let you carry a lot of speed into a fast part of the course.

Keep in mind that the key to any fast lap is your exit speed out of a corner, not how late you can brake into the corner. You might lose a small fraction of a second by braking a bit early, but if you're about to spend the next 10 or 15 seconds at full throttle, you stand to gain a LOT of time by pointing the car in the right direction and accelerating hard through the apex.

And the biggest piece of advice is not to get frustrated. Frustration only makes you slower, so stay steady, and you WILL get there. 👍

It's better to brake early than to brake late.

Braking early costs you hundredths but braking too late can cost you tenths. And of course, you won't be able to get a good line out if you brake too late.

All good points. Thank You. Yes frustration does set in after about an hour with no visible improvement. You try to go too quick and you can be irrational. That's when it's time to call it quits....but that's so hard to do.

I'm going to have to look at those turns on the game. I can't tell where they are from the map. That's my fault, not the map makers.

Huh......I didn't find these hard at all, I used the DS3 and the steering sensativity on 0. I got all silver on all of the advanced an expert. Just get used to the car and understand how the car will react to the curves or when the roads are wet

Hah, Silver. We are talking about the Gold times here.

I used sensitivity 7. I silvered these challenges with ease long ago but couldn't be bothered to go for gold until 2 weeks ago as they seem to take some time.

To be honest, I don't think the controller sensitivity does much, it just makes your steering a little more responsive that's all.

Yeah, it's REALLY tough to get a detailed map of the 'Ring without making it huge. :)

If this helps any, those two curves are both downhill curves, Wehrseifen is kind of blind and drops out from under you going to the right, then turns hard to the left. It immediately puts you into a right-hander, down a gradual hill leading to Breidscheid.

Wehrseifen is at the end of a rather complex series of off-camber corners.

Breidscheid is one of the last corners before you really get into the long, high speed sections into the forest.

I know, it's hard to picture from a description...

Freakin' awesome -- the vid should be required viewing. :)

rcheebunker, the curves I was talking about show up at 5:45 and 6:00.

This video really brings home how good a job PD did modeling the 'Ring. Just outstanding, there's no doubt where you are at any point on the track. :)

Ok, got it now in 7:02,246 & without shortcutting! And yes, with the DS3. :dopey:👍

Some small mistakes here & there and i took some corners a bit carefully, so with a clean lap you can easily nail a lap under 7 minutes.

I tested all aid configs and the following setup was the key for me:

Cam: Bumper Cam

Transmission: Automatic
Driving Line: On
Traction Control: 3
Active Steering: Strong
ASK: Off
ABS: 3
Controller Sensitivity: 7

The most positive impact for the handling of the car has for sure active steering. It is really like cheeting.

I think a GT5 Replay is more helpful as a YouTube video, so i exported my replay of the lap & uploaded it. A FAQ how you import & export GT5 replays you can find here: GT5 Replay Upload and Sharing

Here you can download my "GT5 Special - Nurburgring Intermediate" replay:

Hope it's a help for some of you. :)

Hi ZeGerman. I tried to watch your run but they couldn't find it. Would really like to see it. When you have time can you check and see if it's still there and maybe a problem on my end. Thanks.

It say's page not found.

You said it! It made a difference in my first full run after watching it. He is quite comical. I also did sector 3 and 4 again and improved on my previous gold times.

I just posted a 7:08.1. Just followed it with a 7:07.3. I did take 2 shortcuts. I don't want to but I feel I have to at this point. Few more tries before bed!

Well I can finally put this one to bed. Just posted a 7:04.732. I have to admit it was extremely challenging but like every other gold I've achieved the more you try it the more you understand what it takes. This one took over 2 weeks and was by far the toughest challenge I have tried. I'm not sure if I want to go to the next challenge at Nurburgring....I think I need a little break from it.

Good Luck to all that are still going after gold here. I can only say it's just a matter of time...in my case a very long time!

Congrats! 👍 I knew you could do it! :)

Definitely take a break from that track. You've been going at it like a madman...

So what finally broke it for you, or is there no one thing you can attribute it to?
