Special Mercedes Benz Intermediate

Hi Dennis. One setting that I changed was TCM, I had it set to 1. There is also a steering setting, I changed it to mild. I changed to that setting (mild) during the final race AMG intermediate level. That has been the toughest race I have seen in the game. Up until that race I never played around with the settings and I was able to get golds.

Before I would go and start making a whole lot of changes to your settings I would say this. You probably need to learn how to drive the track a little better. I am not trying to insult you. That's the way it was for me. I knew where the turns were when to break when not to, but it took many restarts before I found the correct entry/exit, and braking points. There are so many bends and turns a Nurburging it can take some time before you put them all together in one race. The times are also very competitive. Not much room for monkeying around.

I would never tell anyone to take a shortcut, however I took 2 in the final intermediate race. If executed properly you can shave off a few seconds. I tried both ways and had to give in to the cross grass cheat, which to execute correctly isn't that easy.

Keep an open mind when going around the ring. If your times keep improving then it's probably just a matter of some fine tuning and putting together one killer run. However, sometimes there might be a quicker way but you don't see it. A little trial and error is never a bad thing.

Keep at it. They weren't meant to be easy. You have to be just about perfect in some of them.

This may not be the recipe for golden stew...but it worked for me. So good luck to you. Keep me posted, would like to know how your making out. 👍

Hi rcheebunker,

thanks for your advice.

Well, as I said, I played around with different settings but in most cases I was still a few seconds away from the gold times.

I think I know the track quite well by now because I just drove a few hundred laps when I was doing the 24 h endurance race last week  ! However, you are right. Maybe I still don't know the track 100% ...

I already always take the shortcuts in sector 1 and 2 but I'm still struggling to gold (at least I golded sector 1 in beginner and intermediate) ! So I guess I must be doing something wrong in principle or use a "wrong" setting ...
(I know it's not correct but maybe someone can post all the locations (e.g. on a map) where you can take shortcuts :) ...)

I will try again the next few days but to be honest I really don't know where or how I can get faster ...

P.S.: I see you're from Canada :). My relatives live in Vancouver, so I've been there a lot of times and I really love Canada :) ...

Question to those who know this particular track Well:

AFter having drivin it over approx 100 times, you are confident in each point, is it possible that you got "accustomed" to performing a certain curve / brake , to your own liking, but feel too strange to try to change it for the better? Meaning, are there some key areas of the track that you are uncertain of, that perhaps you can do, to actually shave time, safely, differently, that you do now? Or are you just sticking to the same lines, and going from there to improve?

Hi guys,

I got the gold after about one weeks effort :scared:

My method was to gold all the stages and then use this information to get a quick full lap. It was fun learning the course and I enjoyed it all (the 3rd sector is my favourite). This took a week in addition to the aforementioned week

The whole lap however is a different beast to tackle. Smoothness is rewarded far more here because the lap time is so long and all those tenth's add up ALOT:tup: Also, to fully focus for 7 min is hard, so take alittle pace off and go for consistancy (I know this is easier said than done)! Lastly, you must have points on the track where you have reference times so that if its a slow lap, you know its slow, and can restart.

This is definiately doable without cutting corners while using a DS3 so keep trying.

Yup, i ran a 7.04.6xx and thought i was god.. and then i went on youtube to see how others did it and what their times were, and i felt like trash after :)

But theoretically, if you can gold all 4 sectors, then it is safe to assume your approach to various turns & bends on the track should suffice for gold on the whole lap. Reason for it not being gold is you probably have messed up somewhere along the lap.

well, it depends very much on the car, it´s grip and the speed you can do with it. i´m quite used to the sls and think i´m pretty much at the top of what i can do with it. other car equals new difficulties.

i often feel like i can go much faster in certain situations and learn from it. the ring is just too difficult to do a perfect lap every time you go round. especially with cars you aren´t familiar with.

Just golded the complete AMG events. In this particular case I did it in 7.03.xxx, but it was not a perfect lap, I missed the apex 2-3 times and the traffic made me slow down a bit on some turns. But I got the gold. Next step, my last 3 golds, Vettel event, but I doubt I make it.

Hi Dennis. Glad to hear you enjoy Canada, I think it's a pretty great place myself.

I don't think settings are of extreme importance, but I do think they can help you a bit. I changed my TCM to 1. It took some getting used to but it felt like I was able to go faster. A little more slippery though, but easy to get used to after a short while.

There are probably a few turns on the track that you can make some time on. I had a ton of restarts because when it looked like I hit a wall I knew I had to change up my driving. I know this doesn't sound right but going fast and sorta sideways is quite a bit slower than a little extra braking and taking a bend seamlessly.

I'm not sure what your fastest time is on the ring but your probably not as far off of gold as you might think. Trying to make up time is very hard if not impossible. That's why I would try not to lose any. I would watch my interval times and have a good idea how I was driving. I would assume your doing that already, it just seems natural on such a long track.

Now the pep talk. Keep at it! Every lap is getting you closer to gold whether it looks like it or not. If you get a chance post some of your intervals and we'll all try to give you some help if the times seem off.

Good Work Lando. The AMG is a tough one to gold. I tried the Vettel just to see how that car drives. I'm not ready to sit down and do that one just yet. I went to the one where you do a race in a bunch of different locations. The first is in the mountains. That one is very tough. I'm 1.5 seconds off gold and really scratching my head to find out how I can make it up.

Hi rcheebunker,

as for the settings, I even tried everything off except ABS 1 (for beginner and intermediate; for advanced and expert I put TC 1 due to the rain), in order to be as fast as possible.

I just tried again yesterday but same as usual (i.e. no progress at all) !

The funny thing is: for some races of the AMG Challenge I managed to miss the gold time for a few tenth seconds once but I have no idea how I did that because I did exactly the same as usual. If I try again, then I'm a few seconds away again -.- ...

I think I will give up now for the time being unless PD raises the gold time or there is "100% gold guarantee" setting/button  ...

Finally golded it after about 30 tries! Funny thing is I watched the video and there was 3 corners I was changing down to 2nd or 4th where he wasn't. Definitely watch it if your less than a second away.
