I see in the news section with news about the possible content of update 2.03 the following screenshot:

What is this speedtest? Where can I access it?

Or is it something that will become available in 2.03?

It comes with 2.03. Im hoping this will be like drag racing. 400m and 1000m..will be epic.

You really need to read, it says;
According to “Space Empire”, GT5′s 2.03 update will be launched on January 18th, and will include a few of the following new changes and features:

The news item doesn't say anything about the "SpeedTest", just the RouteX circuit, so don't start that. You could do well by reading the news more carefully yourself.

I think it's part of the DLC, not the update.

Ah, so we have to buy the speedtest functionality?
Or is it just part of the new track?

I guess no one knows for sure yet :)

Edit

nevermind

I wonder what is that "8" shaped icon next to the start button. I don't think we had that before. About the Speed Test, although it doesn't say if it will be included in the update or DLC, if the track is DLC then the speed test may also be part of the DLC unless it is also possible to perform such test on tracks like SSR7 but I don't believe that's the case.

Will Update for fix and add new menu, + DLC! but new DLC 3 how many Price?

Notice that every category have an arrow in the right side, meaning an expansion of the results...

He could have just as easily found out this info by searching google or browsing the forum, both of which would required less energy than starting a useless thread. The Mods here try to empower people to do things for themselves instead of relying on others to hand them everything, and they do a great job of it. The more useless threads people create, the more work for the Mods and seeing as the Mods are all volunteers I can't blame them for wanting to minimize their workload.

I was wondering about that myself. I'm sure I'm not correct, but I'd like to think of it as an infinity symbol, signifying that Top Speed runs are no longer limited to 3/4 of a lap as in old Test Courses... 💡

As I recall, the "8" Icon was used in GT5 Prologue and was the Free Run button. Back in Prologue, online races were done prebuilt - you selected what race you wanted to do and it would take you to the track; you hit start and it'll match you up with a couple of people. At those tracks, the Free Run button let you drive the track on your own from the online menu to test your setup.

So from what I can gather from that image, Special Stage Route X is going to be very similar to the Test Track, but with more scenery. In that particular menu, you have an all-purpose performance test (all 6 of those categories could be tested in one single run), or you can test the car in free run before going for official records.

Yeah but him asking the question, and me only realising this sort of thing would even exist by seeing his thread makes it a worthy and valid question ... hardly useless. You guys stress too much about this stuff.

This news has the GTP community overall very excited. Rightly so with the possibility of drag racing, and the ability to test our cars in many different ways. Well done Polyphony:tup:

This, thank you!
