I get involved in a pile up and get 4 second penalty then have a clean race and my sr goes down. Can some explain. I’m new to gt7. Btw
Just got a wheel and it’s game changer

Clean races, penalties, and SR are not necessarily linked to one another.

SR deductions happen when you drive off-track, or contact other cars or fixed track objects. Penalties occur when you are determined to be at fault for collisions with other cars and depend on what happens to those cars after the collision. Clean Races are seemingly on a case-by-case basis; in some races you need to not drive off track at all, in others you need to not have contact with opponents, and some don't care about either. Certain single player races award the Clean Race bonus always, unless you pass or lap an opponent under yellow flags...

There is a lag, especially if you have quit races.

Just a tip, for the first part of learning GT7 focus on get around and letting everyone fight.

I know you’ll want to be fighting for those wins but just work on avoiding their issues.

I swear you’ll have a much more fun time and get quicker as well bud

Thanks for the great reply. That’s useful.

Thanks for the good advice. I’m 47 now so am playing a lot more level headed than I did when I played in my teens. I try and stay out the way for first few corners. But yeah I get caught up when I get a push

I’m 45 and honestly it’s not about age, and definitely in qualifying or in race. We have more driving wisdom and self preservation and that is what you need.

Just spend time getting fast QT times and really comfortable controlling the car. It takes a little bit of effort and analysis but the payoff is worth it. Remember not every race is “your race” or “worth it” just bring in home being first or last, cross the flag twice and learn. Go forth bud 👍

This is a great forum. Cheers for advice

I'm 56. My advice is to leverage the events. Race A usually has no DR rating, so start from the back, and pick your way through the field...or, like many take it easy to boost your SR. That's what I do. I rarely "race" in Race A. Besides, without the DR update, there's no need to sacrifice SR.

As for the DR part, the advice I always give is shooting for the top five, or at the very least, just try to have the DR increase at the end of the race. Think of it like a championship. Some guys are win it or bin it, while the ones focused on the big picture will take a 2nd or 3rd and keep that rating growing.

It can be frustrating sometimes, such as the pile up you mentioned in the original post. But, stuff happens. Manage the ratings, and it will all make sense.
