Lack character, aren't fun to drive, cheap interior? I don't think so.

I said "Have atleast a little torque." Not have mass amounts of torque. I do not like large displacement engines. I like top end motors, but a little torque to go with them is always nice. Also I should have said light.

I dont think I am at all bashing hondas. Hondas are hondas. They are what they are. Sure they can be quick. But they are still hondas!!! Sorry for ruining your party, thinking they are god damn exotics.

Hondas DONT have torque. Hondas have cheap interiors (a civic is an economy car. overall cheap price and good mpg are primary concerns when engineering it. this means that the interior is not supposed to be incredible, and the car has a god damn blender under the hood. ie, no torque.)

Dont forget I drive a civic currently.

I know civics are light cars with good potential for power, especially when you slap turbos in them. I just want something else from a car, Im sorry. RWD is a must. I also would like my car to have more character and be more fun to drive. Those are relative terms, dont forget.

"they will always be ugly, have a cheap ass interior"
Yeah, saying they're all ugly, and have cheap ass interiors must've not been a bash.

And I do not think they're "god damn exotics". I might consider an NSX an exotic, though.

Actually, Honda's do have torque, or else we wouldn't really see too many of 'em driving around, now would we?

Not all Honda's have "cheap" interiors, either. Maybe that sweet Civic you're driving does, but not all...at least not the Honda I used to own.

I was talking about civics when I said that I think. IMO civics do not look good. No matter how much you add to them performance wise, they will still be ugly.

I should have been more specific about other things as well. S2000s are not ugly. NSXs do not have cheap interiors. I meant to be talking about civics when I said that.

Also, about the torque. It seems that on this forum people always analyze my words technically. Maybe I dont clarify enough.

civics have *much less* torque than other cars. It isnt like it is non exhistant. 97ft-lbs is still a number, haha.

Whereas MX-6 and 626 GTs have been tested at over 200 ft lbs. :)

Even the 3 has more torque then hp. 92 ft lbs. Kinda sad that a heavyier car only has 5 more ft lbs...

Ah, I see. I thought you were talking about all Hondas, not just Civics. I agree with you that Civics are ugly. I'd drive a built turbo'd Civic hatch, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

I knew exactly what you meant about the tq.:) Honda's have ****ty torque.

Bah, who cares? Just let him have his stickers and plastic wing. Does it really hurt you? Not everyone is performance oriented with cars. Some just want something with a painted black hood and nice stickers and vinyl running along the side with maybe a wing. It looks nice in his eyes, so who cares?

My Civic is probably faster than anyone on this entire websites car.

Its almost faster than any production car. Unfortunately I dont have my old signature stating that my Civic once rattled off a 1/4 mile in 12.34 seconds @116mph.

Civics can be very fast cars. Mine handled very well also. I took it to an autocross when it was still pushing 250hp and I beat everyone there. I havent done much suspension work, other than taking off the CRX rear suspension and axle to get the nice rear disc brakes.

I am someone who KNOWS my Civic is(was) very fast. Am I dumb? I can drive around my city for hours and get in races with any car I see, and I KNOW I will spank who ever it is.

The bad thing, is that my car is no longer turbocharged because I experienced some trouble with the turbo itself. So, I am only pushing about 170hp with a moderately modified B16A (1.6L VTEC 160hp stock).

Currently I can beat any pre-2002 Mustang and run neck and neck with a Camaro SS. I can also beat things like pre-1997 Corvettes and RX-7's 300ZX's and Supras. I might even take an early 90's NSX.

Sorry, I know you have done up your Civic and that it is fast, but I was talking about the people who 'think' its fast, when they're really don't do all that much. Sorry if you misunderstood.

Sam,
nice ride.
Especially if you are happy with it. I personally have a thing for fifth gen. Preludes.
Before I dis (or give out kudos) on anything, What does the "ssg" in your screen name stand for?
Is is "staff sergeant"? Or is alluding to a very fine rifle built by the nice people at Walther? or was it Heckler and Koch?:D

just being nosy.

Well Civics can be good road racers but they can get killed on the straights by higher HP cars. Torque has alot to do with acceleration and the ablity to pull things (EX. Truck pulling a trailer). Roger Foo used to drive an old Civic Hatchback in the SCCA World Challenge: Touring Cars. He could get everyone on the turns but once he got out to the straights he was always passed by the BMW's and other cars.

I cant wait for the Ford Focus Cothsworth. Its the road version of the Focus Rally car (4WD).

Seen here during recent tests at Germany's Nürburgring circuit is a prototype mule of the future hot Ford Cosworth, which is the road version of Ford's Focus World Rallye Car (WRC).

The final edition of this new model will again feature the big rear wing, which is still missing on the pictured prototype. The Focus Cosworth will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine performing 310 hp, acceleration rates around 5sec./100km. The car is also expected to get a newly developed four-wheel-drive system. Besides the top of the line Cosworth, Ford is developing two other sporty Focus variants: the RS is scheduled for launch this summer, and the ST170 is scheduled for release this fall.

;)...

The first car I EVER rode in in my life was a 1962 Thunderbird.
I drove the same T-bird on my first date, first street race, the first time I met my wife, and We left our wedding in that SAME 'Bird.
I spent the first 19 years of my life in and around that old 'Bird, before I traded it and a buck to my old man for a more "practical" ride after I got married.
I spent the next 20 years wishing I still had the old girl in my garage.

Pas fort, pas fort... t'a tu des photos d'en dessous du hood? c'est quoi, un B16A, B18C?

My bro's near stock(has K&N airfilters, no muffler(just pipe work), and some self tuning) MX-6 does the quarter in the low 15s at around 94 mph or so(just looking at a timeslip from last may, which was before a lot of the stuff he did).

So a 245 HP Civic, a lighter car than the MX-6, should go faster than it by a far amount, minus the lack of torque...

Sam, have you run the car without the wing and other bodywork? I bet it would go faster with less wieght on it. The MX-6 is totally stock on the outside, the only thing different from any MX-6 is the headlights(Japanese headlights), and my bro took a regular MX-6 GT grill and cut the honeycomb out of it and smoothed it out so it's more aerodynamic and allows more air into the engine compartment. And he doesn't have a spoiler on it, the GT spoiler that was on it(88-90) warped because moisture gets into the foam and distorts it, and he hasn't put the '91-92 spoiler on it(they had a better design, and I think my bro got one from Holland which is different from the US one.

Also, if you run smaller wheels on the front during a run(not like tiny wheels, just like the stock Civic wheels) it will accelerate faster. My bro runs 15" 626 GT "Spiral" wheels when he goes to the track instead of the 16" '93-95 Probe GT wheels.

Hope that helps...

If it's really got 245 hp, it's got the torque as well... my Type-R dynoed at 225 whp, 198 tq, back when i still had it, with minor work done to it. Turbocharging seems to even things out on VTEC motors. Can't wait to dyno the CRX. :D

245hp is alot, so hes definitely either turbocharged the stock motor or done an engine swap, or turbo'd the swapped engine like me!

SAM, qu'avez vous fait a votre voiture pour obtenir a 245hp? Avez vous mesure la HP avec un Dyno? Dites moi tout.

I hope I can still make a coherent sentence in French! Tell me what its like, you fluent French speakers.

I think he is pretty modified ive seen under the hood of that car and it looks pretty nice looks like there is really some investement if you know what i meen ........

pi eille 12.sec civic pour repondre a ta question non on la jamais dyno mais on i va au 'pif' avec toute les chose qui a mit dedans ...
