Standard cars to receive Premium treatment.

Which region would you like to see Standard cars getting the Premium treatment?

What gets me is that they were only able to come up with 200 premium cars in six or so years and now they're able to get these cars that Kaz said took "six months" each out the door?

Still, who am I teasing, if you have to pay for this stuff for DLC I'd probably do it just for the cockpit view.
 
personally i would want Ayrton Senna's McLaren MP4-4 from 1988, cuz that was in gt3 or gt4, and i'd love to see it as a premium in gt5, and not 20,000,000 credits!
 
If all of the info that was posted on Neogaf by the supposed PD team member is true, then from what I can tell it's likely that GT6 will appear on the PS4, from what I read anyway. But it does mean that everything they develop for GT5 from now on can be used as a base for the next game. All it will need is just a few tweaks and some new content and features and it'll be just as brilliant and more.

For now, I say we sit back and embrace GT5 for what it is - a damn fine game. "Unfinished" it may be at the moment, but at least PD is commited for now to making it the game it should have been when it was released. As the guy mentioned, GT5is Kaz's baby, so he wants to make it as good as is humanly possible. It was all down to the demands from Sony that we have 800 standard cars, tearing shadows and the like. I reckon by the time everything that needs to be rectified is done, it'll be ten times better than it currently is, and it's unbelievably awesome at the moment.

My Predictions for Standard - Premium Cars:

1. Jaguar XFR - completely new to the series, odd that it's Standard
2. Mazda Furai - Highly detailed for a standard car
3. Bugatti Veyron
4. Lamborghini Countach (both versions)
5. Audi R8 LMS

That's all I can think of at the moment.

I am excited about this. I can't wait to see just how many Standard cars are upgraded. And, if some standards are being turned to premiums, the remaining ones should get a graphical update.

Cars I'd love to see premium:
Spyker C8 Laviolette - Exposed Gear linkage, airplane inspired interior...seriously, this car has the best interior ever. I would love to see it in GT5 detail. And, when doing this, they could make it a Mid-engine car...finally.

Jaguar XJ220. Fun car. Would love to see in in Premium detail.

Mopars - These are just fun cars and it would be great to take close up shots of them.

All Muscle cars - YEAH BABY! It'd also make them easier to find.

Trucks/SUVs - I'd love to get behind the wheel of these, and with the premium damage, they could be really fun.

Glad to here the news, bring on the premium veyron. Just wish we could have a safe game to play with. As in backing up the save data.

I'm sure it's been brought up somewhere in here, but what would be interesting to know is how PD will deal with people already owning the Standard versions of a car that's been upgraded. Say I own the R8 LMS and it gets the Premium treatment... does that mean I have to buy the car all over again in-game (after potentially paying to get the new Premium to begin with)?

PD's odd habit of keeping a Standard model in-game when there's an identical Premium model needs to be dealt with. It's cynical roster padding. It will be interesting to see which cars, and how many, get the treatment first.
 
I think it would only make sense that all the standards that also have premium version, be updated into premiums.

For example, the 2005 M5 (S) and the 2008 M5 (P). Or the 2000 Corvette Z06 (S) and the 2004 Z06 (P).

The standard version and the premium version are pretty much the same car, with probably minor, minor differences. It really wouldn't be that difficult to update the standard, since the premium version is pretty much all done

Interesting thought, but I think that PD will more than likely have premium cars that weren't complete at the time of shipping added first. Then should probably have cars voted on by popular vote. The cars that come in both p/s I doubt that would be roster padding considering there are like 10 of them that are both premium and standard. If DLC is anything like FM, then you'd have to buy the car with in game credits, so even if you already own it, you'd more than likely have to purchase it again, unless they add a trade feature. Swap standard for premium. I'd probably own both as I don't have qualms with paying for stuff as the online credits should be up and running before this comes to fruition.
 
I would like the peugeot 206, toyota supra and minolta, and bugatti.

Oh, agreed, those kinds of cars will probably be first to come. I also imagine they could knock a huge chunk of Standards to Premium by using currently-available Premiums as bases. Just off the top of my head:

  • R32, R33, and R34 Skyline models (including Mine's, Nismo, etc)
  • NA Miatas
  • FC, FD RX-7
  • Evo IV-IX models
  • All NSX models
  • All S2000 models
  • All 350Z models

Just there, you could have nearly 100 new Premiums for very little work. Of course, I'm hoping for a bit more variety than that :lol:.

An older suggestion was, if PD had included leaderboards, to track popular car usage through those and use it as a guide for Premiumization. The problem there being a lot of more casual players would gravitate strictly towards the hyper-fast cars.

If online racing credits are introduced, yeah, I'll have less of a qualm with paying too 👍
 
i'm torn, not sure if i want the current cars from standard to premium, or all new cars in premium.
 
At least the race cars should be turned premium. Sauber C9 and others deserve some real detailing.

By the way, how come UK is mentioned with Europe in the poll?

Perhaps they can use metrics (our usage data) to find out which standard cars are the most popular and start there.
 
While there are certainly some favorite cars that I personally would like to see in HD, what I think is more important in a universal sense is that they should concentrate on beautiful or interesting or important cars, and leave all the reasonably current econoboxes and everyday drivers for last. I mean, why in the world did they waste their time doing the superb HD cockpits for things like the Prius and Civic? Sure, they are fine family cars, but if you want to know what it is like to be in one, then you can go be in one in real life! On the other hand, they've yet to render a tremendous number of exciting, rare, exotic, or at least interesting cars. I just think that's a completely backwards priority and I hope they reverse it.

I definitely see this is great news overall. Hopefully it is a sign that they realize something is wrong and that they are working to fix things (and by "things" I mean all the bizarre design and gameplay decisions that so many of us here are whining about.)

Not so sure about that, that's like someone thinking Japan isn't part of Asia. Anyone that doesn't know the UK is part of Europe shouldn't be thinking about a geographical poll in the first place imo.

Anyway, the news is good. Hopefully they will add more new cars as well as update some of the standards.
 
If they upgrade any cars, please let it be the Minolta and Escudo. And some racecars.

wait what?? When was Ayrton Senna's McLaren in GT3 or GT4???( cant remember having that in GT4!!!)

But, if they were ever going to get the BOSS F1 car from Ayrton Senna, then it should sit at the 100.000.000 Credit mark, as this is the Legend's car itself!!!! :lol:

and of course, please, just one Premium RUF, RGT or Yellowbird preferably :cheers:

Unless you use cockpit view (which I do not) the only benefit to the premium models is that they look prettier in replays and photo mode.

So with that being said, I'd prefer the cars I enjoy looking at to be upgraded. Prowler, PT Cruiser, Countach, 3000GT, etc.

I think i'll start off with all of them. Then add Vector's, Venturi's and the 1997 Nissan R390 GT1.
 
They should do it for all, not for a single region thats BS. We all bought the game, the same exact game.

and also a Supra RZ and a Veyron and 240sx and S14 and the rest I havent named yet.
