Excellent race #7 at an all time favorite GT original track. In a race that had many lead changes, featuring no less than 5 different pace setters, the race was not determined until the final lap, when a great pit strategy & better tires paid off for the victor. ;)

SCRL is pumping out great race after great race, and is yet to see the best part of the season, the real world tracks. Thanks to all participating SCRL racers for making Season 1 an awesome experience and the best Street Car series on GTP! Happy New years to all and best wishes in 2012!:)

SCRL Race #8 was incredible. My Ford GT pulled off a huge comeback after it spent the entirety of lap 5 without rear tread just spinning the tires out of control. I was shocked by how fast it was.
I also got a large number of incredible photos from this race. I think some of the photos are some of my favorite I've ever taken.

I thought that this was quite an interesting photo of carayota's 458 Italia.

I am hoping that I get some more great photos from the next race. I might go back and try to get some more photos from race #8, but I have gone up to lap 4 currently taking photos, and I don't know how many good photos I can get out of the rest of the race.
I try to take individual shots of each car so that each driver can enjoy their car by itself.
If you drive a premium car, it will probably have more photos taken of it than a standard car.

Excellent race #8 with a few different stories to be told about this demanding SCRL battle, featuring a runaway winner. Unfortunately there were a few bumps and bruises, and low blows along the way. Not the cleanest SCRL race so far, but from reviewing the replay for the last day, I've came to the conclusion that no real harm was intended, even though some racers were sent into the sand pits, against their will.

Most collisions and crashes that I found, were not really a fault of any one person in particular, but rather the result of hard racing in a group, with very little room to spare.. In other word good hard "rubbing is racing" styled racing in tight quarters, around sharp turns, 3 or 4 wide, with less than desirable tire grip. :scared:

The biggest violation was T.O.'s wall riding escapade, which I've decide to dock him 1 second per "free ride", since it's not the biggest cut in the game(basically just saving tire wear, though i did see him overtake two drivers doing it), the punishment seems fair enough. :ouch: I'm just glad nobody else who witnesses it, succumbed to doing it too. Pat on the back to all other SCRL racers. 👍

***Three important things to go over for the near future of SCRL.

#1. There is a happy hour, sprint style races/practice session Tomorrow, 10PM... not sure if it'll be in my lounge, OE40_GSXR_1K's lounge or in a public lounge.

#2. On Thursday night 10PM(maybe earlier), I will be hosting a Keyring 4.20 (600pp, public lobby)special practice session to help everyone get a good idea of just how demanding Race #10 will be, and just exactly why it is a bonus race, featuring double points and closing out the 1st half of SCRL season 1.

#3. Race #18, enough said... It's at Spa Francorchamps, or proposed to be.. I want it to be. :dunce: I really want Spa on the schedule, just look at the OP picture(!). Though it is no longer able to be freeloaded by those who haven't purchased it! I know, fail on PD's part, no fault of mine or yours since i scheduled it before it became locked to the mases, and I didn't say then, that SCRL requires you to buy the DLC.. SCRL is caught in between the preverbal rock and the hard space... I bought it & I was tricked into thinking I'd STILL be able to share it with all of you months later(should have put it as race #1, lol), like I had done many, many times before.💡 So what I'm asking is that you please post whether or not you have Spa, or plan on buying it, or plan on racing at that race, or missing that race. We can discuss on an alternate course(Daytona Road Course, or Nurb GP/F) to put in its' spot, though that would be a last resort. 👎

I just wanted to drop in briefly and apologize for my absence these past couple weeks. I've been quite busy dealing with my new job, and the holidays and such, I'm sure you guys can understand. However I also noticed that I was making concessions on behalf of my girlfriend in particular in order to attend these SCRL races. I found myself telling white lies in order to make a window for me to race through, and she basically called me on it. Women's intuition, I suppose.

But the real pisser is that my PS3 just YLOD'd. Again. It happened in November and was repaired with no warantee. So as for now I can't even play video games or watch Netflix, let alone race in a serious biweekly race series. So unfortunately you probably won't be seeing me on PSN for awhile.

Anyway, I wish everyone the best of luck and hope to see you guys on the racetrack some time in the future.

I have been trying to pull strings to be able to race, but between my job sending me places and the time I spend with my girl friend it is a race with the devil to get time on my ps3 other than watching netflixor the like. This has been a lot of fun and I will continue to follow the season and see if things have settled enough for me to participate next go around. If the planets align and I can get on I would be more than happy to fill an available slot, but I do not feel it is fair to my team mate for me to be so unpredictable. I will still be here watching and racing as often as allowed :)

Team White Skyline FTW!!! :D
6640376963_f62a6afc40_b.jpg

6640377361_796fcdbe3f_b.jpg

There are two pictures of Team White Skyline at the Grand Valley Speedway race.

I just put the schedule of what university basketball games that I have to attend (I am in the pep band, we get paid around $25-$30 a game usually, we get fined $50 if we missed last time I checked).
It looks like the only race I will maybe miss is Race #14 at Suzuka. There is a double-header that day. Women's game is at 1:00pm CST and Men's game is at 7:00pm CST. A game usually lasts around 2 hours. It is about a 30 minute drive from my home to the location where the games are, so there is pretty much no chance of me making that race.
I just wanted to give y'all a heads-up on that. Also, to let carayota87 know because I won't be able to make any team points that race.

I should make all the other races with no problems, unless something happens last minute that is not expected.

Will i be able to attend on the 8th of December 2012 because this looks like major fun. If so i will be using my Nissan GT-R Black Edition '12. prohr67(prohr67)

Great pics once again MA, Team White Skyline!!!! About an alternate course for Spa, well, I'd like to race Spa in the first place, in case everyone says not to, Daytona Road Course could be the one. For my part I haven't bought the DLC because my country doesn't appears on PlayStation Store, but if everyone agree to race Spa I'll see what I can do, so if we can decide which track are we racing at least a week earlier that would be awesome.

Ok prohr67... Always like to have more people in SCRL. This season is fairly booked though and the date you put is 11 months away, not sure if that was a typo or when exactly you ment. In future seasons I will call upon other SCRL members to step up and host alternate divisions, assuming the league grows to over 20 racers. The benefit of being an alternate division host is that you can host the 2 weekly races at whatever time is most convenient for you. All I would need is race result vitals like I post here after each race.

Cbrown glad to see you are still with us and a devout follower. Hoping to see you show up to to the start of a race, like Troylee did last week for the first time since preseason.

SynSyx, sorry to hear about your PS3.. Not fun at all, I know all too well. The PS3 I'm on now is my 3rd one. Hoping with your new job, you'll be back in the game in no time.. You were having quite a good season so far too.

Musical_Artist I absolutely love your artistic touch to your photos!... Just one question, how to you get the road to look like its moving but yet the cars are in perfect clarity? I wish for once I could take pics as sweet as yours! -_-

Carayoto87 the Spa race is an issue right now and personally I don't like Daytona Road Course, although it does seem to be the most likely solution to SCRLs problem. Nurburgring GP/F I don't prefer on the schedule either, because it's part of the Nurb 24h variation that is race #20. I have debated an Eifel track in that spot, but it doesn't fit in with the Real World Tracks theme of the 2nd half of the season(even though MA has a real nice one up for share). The best and obvious choice is Spa, though I guess Nurburgring Nordschlife is not out of the question too, but I don't like it being on the schedule for the same reason as the GP/F version. We'll all decide on a race for the #18 spot before the week before the race, though I was hoping to replace that race even sooner than that. Thanks and see you all at Cape Ring tonight. 8)

I use Panning Mode 2 and 3 and Lock-Focus.

Here is how the GT5 site describes the Panning Modes.

Mode 1:
The camera stays in a fixed position and turns to follow the car. Because the car's distance from the camera varies, this can cause it to blur slightly
Mode 2:
The camera moves with the car. When taking a photo of a cornering or spinning car, focus will be centred on the middle of the car, which can cause the front and rear to go slightly out of focus.
Mode 3:
The camera moves with the car, and is positioned face-on to the front of the vehicle. This allows you to take a photo where the car is sharply in focus, and only the background becomes blurred.

Locking the focus on the car allows you to move the centerpoint of the picture around without the focus being moved away from the car. It especially is important when using low F-Numbers(a.k.a. Focal Ratio). The lower the number, the shorter the distance from the camera that will appear in focus. If you do it with Panning Mode 2 or 3, you can get some pretty cool stuff. Kinda like this photo I took.

.

Daytona Road Course is a good track, but, rather boring and is best, IMO, for a Classic Trans-Am Series race. Maybe go for a city track instead of a race track. Tokyo R246 might work well.

Yeah it was a typo. I typed that by accident so just tell me when is the next SCRL race i can attend thats got free spaces? I want to know what races i can attend so i can race and have a good time. Just for laughs.

MA you do take some awesome photos. I'm gonna be going tru bunch of replays I have now I have some nice passes n tight racing but could never get the road to look like it was moving
They were like plain . Like I put the cars there. Hopefully ill get some good footage tonight

Also a friend I know is photographer for work how do u make the lights look like there coming out of the car? I dunno if I'm explaining it right.. like the cars going so fast the red from the tail light. Makes a long streak behind the car

Sorry if I'm reading something wrong, but aren't we supposed to be racing tonight?

I don't think it is possible to do that in GT5, but, editing the photo afterwards would make it possible.

I am studying art in college, and one of the fields I am interested in is photography. I am taking my first photography course this spring. So I might end up being a photographer possibly.

Race #9 was fairly good. There were a lot of issues during the race. Personally, I don't think the Furai should be allowed. It is an LM Concept, and that is under the "Not Allowed" list.

I got some good photos. I went for a more artistic approach with photos this time. Here are some of the really good ones.

Bonus Race tomorrow!!! :D

Eiger Nordwand is a real life track....kinda.
The track is actually based off of hiking trails in the area of the small ski resort. The buildings and everything you see on the course are actually there in real life, but there is not actually a track.
Actually, you can't even drive there, you have to take either a train or a helicopter to get to that ski resort.

But, technically, the location is real, it is just that the path of the track is based on hiking trails.

So, I don't know if that makes Eiger Nordwand classed a real-world track if you want to switch out one of the lower pp tracks with it and put that track up where Spas is.

Would anyone be interested in a single "Super Endurance" race?
It would run with pretty much the same basic rules as SCRL, but, the car rules will be more defined. It would be a 250 mile race.
The race would be:

Nurburgring Nordschleife/Weather Change/Time Change
20 laps
no rain at start, 30% or 40% chance of rain (maybe)
24hour time shift starting at 4:00pm
Spec Mazda Eunos Roadster (NA Special Package) ’89 race
N/A tuning only (no supercharger or turbocharger)
All other tuning maxed.
No rear wing aero parts allowed.
440pp max

The prize system would work like this.
Each person will put forward the car they will be racing for the race in order to enter the championship.
1st place will get a chance to choose one car from the cars entered to have as a prize. The prize money for the race will be very high because of the length, so that is the reward for everyone else.

.

If anyone is interested, please tell me. It would still run under the SCRL title (if that would be allowed), it would be the "SCRL Miata Super Endurance Challenge". The date is yet to be determined since it is just a single race.
It would be a test of will and stamina. Sure, 100 miles is fairly hard, but, once you do 250miles, 100 miles will be nothing.

Sorry for suggesting this in your thread Earthbound, but, my plans were to go off of your series's basic rules. It will only be one race, so it won't have any affiliation with the current season. It will just be an good introduction to time change, and possibly weather change. The low pp will help. The Miata has fairly good headlights. Better than most cars I've driven.
You could make it the post-season, awards-gala race, if a tie-breaker isn't needed. Though, it would be a good tie-breaker because it just takes a normal race and makes it last 2.5 times longer, testing how long drivers can last before their driving becomes too slow to keep them in the lead.

ok the last time i try & reply on my PS3, had 1000 or more word reply printd out & went to send it & it said i needed to sign in, which i did b4 i started posting the reply.. when i go back the whole GD post is gone!!!!!!!!! I'm soooooooooooo pissed of i cant see straight... Long story short I didn't like the way 2 Race cars abused the rule in last nights race & the FURAI WILL NO LONGER BE ALLOWED. SCRL doesn't stand for Short Cut Racing league, or Semi-racing Car League so a combination of both will NOT be tolerated. Warnings, strikes & disqualifications will be handed out to set an example of how i expect ALL SCRL racers to behave & race on the track Vs. their fellow SCRL racers.

About the Miata 4hr enduro, i love the idea & the track. l'll be there, just dont think we can start it @ the normal SCRL starting time since it'll be 4hr long. If its on Feb. 17th i wont get out of work til late, like i did last night, so Feb 18th sounds better

I'm down for the race also

I don't think the Super-Endurance race aspect of it is really that good. I think it could be good if you take of the Tyre and Fuel wear aspect. I don't know what every person thinks about the Tyre Wear and the Endurance aspect of SCRL but i just think i could be a little bit better, but besides that, SCRL is the most fun on Gran Turismo 5. Thanks for the good race i just had to cut it short for myself because i needed to do things around my house. So thanks for the good race hope to do it soon. P.S. i changed the colour of my car to (Black/Black). prohr67 out. :)

... Thanks for the kind words prohr67, I absolutely think so too!

About the super enduro, it's only 1 race and it won't be part of the regular season standings. More of a bonus race/post season gala race. Most SCRL races are under an hour long. Not really an endurance race, when most people go online and race for longer than that anyway.

No problems on you bailing out early, I do not blame you, because you had never seen that track before, and some things are more important than a GT5 league race, life being one of them.. So I understand completely.

That's exactly why I haven't gotten around to posting Race #9 & #10 results... Life. Even though I did get in some Gt racing last night, I have a lot to complete for SCRL with the 1st half of season 1 wrapped up. So far it has been a glorious season.

Race 18 is an issue still, and on my mind everyday. An idea of putting it at TGTT was brought to my attention by O4E0, which is a real world track, but doesn't feature a pit lane. But as you suggest turning tire wear and fuel consumption OFF would make it consievable as a valid SCRL race. In that case i would shorten the total race to say 25 or 30 minutes, since any longer would be redundant w/o pit strategy. Next best idea is putting it at Daytona Road Course. I figure either track can handle 610pp road cars quite well. Whichever of the two ideas gains the most steam over the next few weeks will most likely become Race #18, although I'm still not entirely against having it at Spa, if most people can swing it.

I plan on taking down results and pic's from this past weekends' auspiciously interesting races and setting up SCRL for an incredible 2nd half, down the home stretch, very soon. Sorry for the delay guys and thank you all very kindly for your patience! :)

Hey, have you checked if Lounge rules are any different from normal online room rules?
You might be able to host a DLC track to non-DLC purchasers in a Lounge. But, I have no idea.

I haven't checked that yet, but I know I'll be sure to put Spa up after the next SCRL race.

....Semi-clean re-start #3!
CapeRing.jpg

CapeRing_2.jpg

Drama at Controversy(Cape) Ring... Wasn't the cleanest or smoothest ran SCRL race yet. Needed 3 restarts, and the run we went with there was a lag pile-up at the start. Rules were broken and new rules have been made as a result.

The Mazda Fuari was OK'ed at the start, but was only given the benefit of the doubt because i hadn't been formally asked if it was SCRL legal until I NOTICED 2 ppl were(trying to sneak them by,) using them 5 minutes before the start of the race, so i let them slide(not without debate from all sides).. That wasn't the problem.. How they used them in the race was, however, cutting and leaning to get ahead of lesser gifted road cars with their Mazda LM Concepts'. Needless to say the car, and me being generous to allow such a "Race" car in a street league race, was not only used, but abused(and the MFC '08 is no longer a valid option for SCRL races).

Sorry 'bout missing Tsukuba. I was sick all day Friday and fell asleep while watching Netflix and missed the race entirely.
