Suggestibility/imagination test.

The whole problem with this test is thus:

You're telling people you're testing to see whether they're suggestible or not. So whether their hands would be at different levels after this test on any other occassion... on this occassion, whether the hands will move or not is more dependent on whether the subject thinks he is suggestible or not... not whether he/she really is.
I thought that also, but it still worked for me, If you don't mind in yourself whether a video controls you or not then your mind can stay flexible. If you don't want it, then it won't work much.
I even made the title include the word imagination in the hope it would complement the dreaded word suggestibility. Suggestibility is not gullibility, in this case it uses the ability to use imagination. But you also need to feel relaxed about it to use it in this case.

Unfortunately, I can imagine it very well (I used to meditate and dream of flying or swimming). But in my imagination, I'm pushing up against the weight of the bricks.

Both my hands fell to the table and my sholders hurt.

Do you have extremely long arms? :P

I'm not sure about the test, but it reminded me of the power of imagination, I could almost feel the string tugging my right hand, the heaviness of the 'bricks' conciously made my left arm feel weighty.

When I opened my eyes however I had moved my hands less than 1 Cm, though strangely, it felt like more. Though the right was highest...

Mind over matter!? (I'm not sure what this counts for, but I often have Lucid Dreams)

Random guy gives you random link to random video telling you to do this.

Then you go and do it.

Doesn't really take that much logic to figure out you're highly suggestible.

You must really struggle with windows dialogue boxes... operating systems asks you to click OK... "NO I WON'T BE CONTROLLED BY MY COMPUTER"

Although I agree the test in this format is not controlled. I did it, got no difference... but my brain was probably compensating because I suspected what was being suggested.

Less than an inch. and the wrong way, too. Heavy was up and light was down.

I guess I don't believe anything ANYONE says.

Note, I was also having trouble discerning between right and left...as I normally do. I don't associate words with direction well, ESPECIALLY when spoken. I have to remember that Left is the way NASCAR turns.

If the difference in the position of your hands at the end of the video were a measure of how much of a sheep you are, this would be true. But it's not, so it isn't.

I fail to see how trying a simple experiment in a video makes one a "sheep". If the video started telling us to do absurd things, like stick a finger into an outlet to test how conductive we are, or to fork over our cash, obviously most people wouldn't do it. By your logic, everyone who listens to any sort of advice or suggestion, bad or good, is a "sheep". Which is everyone.

This sheep talk is nonsense. You don't wanna try the simple, harmless experiment in the video? Great, don't bother posting in this thread then.

That's what the word "Suggestible" means.
I suppose you need a link to the dictionary.
I will provide this for you:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/suggestible

It has nothing to do with anything you said. I've never read a more irrelevant, completely non-thought-out post.

The point is that A: the test is incredibly stupid.

B: The thread itself is an ironic test on the very same topic, and actually makes MORE sense than the video.

On top of which I didn't know you had to have one opinion in a thread. Everyone just has to agree with OP, by your logic, and there is no discussion.

Try this. Hold your hands out, palms down, and close your eyes. Try and keep them level with each other, and don't imagine weights or balloons attached to either hand. Just keep theme level for 30 seconds to a minute. Open your eyes. Are they still even?

Heh, exactly. Chances of them being even are very slim, so there's about a 50/50 chance of the experiment seeming to have worked.
