To be honest, you get ppl that just likes arcade games . like shift,Grid, dirt @ Motorstorm . and its fine they can enjoy them as much as they want . but dont take a "Arcade fan" and let then review a SIM racer . i came down to a concluetion. then these guys give games like FC & SCC a bad review becouse they just cant drive the game .. they suck at real driving games and hence give it a "Bad review" its not fun scraping along the barriers or useing other cars as a barrrier if you get penalized for it.

I say if you dont like Sim racers then just stay away, go play your shift or motor storm
sack there they actualy "reward" you for BAD driving ..

Leave games like GT,SCC,FC and other Sim racers for ppl like US .. ppl that can drive. ppl that can have fun with sim .. ppl that knows what real racing is about !!

To be fair I think physics in a racing game can be very subjective. I think a racing game is either convincing or not. If it feels believable then you'd probably label it a "sim", if not you'd probably label it as an arcade racer. Some people may not say it's that cut and dry though I guess. In the end, try the game for yourself and see if you like it. If you like it, then play it. If not, then don't.

A quick recap of my "sim" racing past. I grabbed Grid off the Shelf when i bought my PS3. I didn't really know what to get so I took a shot in the dark. I played it with a controller for a couple months. Then I grabbed GT5p and played it with a controller for a month or so. Then I decided it was time to get a wheel and a wheelstand. Then I quickly realized just how different Grid and GT5p were. It was obvious that GT5p was the more sim-like game. From there I was pretty much addicted and I have been grabbing pretty much every PS3 racing game out there.

I have heard/read numerous people call SCC a hardcore sim. Then we have these guys (the SRT guys) who seem to be VERY serious sim racers say the physics and FFB suck and feel quirky. Whatever "quirky" means.

I spend/spent a lot of time on their forums and that episode came out about a week or so after it was supposed to be aired. I'm thinking they were just rushed or busy or whatever and didn't really care about this game. They kept saying on their forum that they had to move their whole studio to a new location. So maybe they figured since the game isn't really talked about much that nobody would really care if they just brushed it over quickly and got it out of the way. I'm just really disappointed that they would give Shift a higher score and give games like Grid and Dirt more recognition. I expected them to kind of weigh it against the other PS3 games that are out there. You know, compare it to the direct competition.

I still think SCC is the best sim we have on the PS3. I guess GT5p comes in second. GT5p just feels boring in comparison to SCC. The physics just seems to easy and there is nowhere near as much feel in the FFB. F1CE is a good game, but I don't know how good the physics really are. It's not like any of us have ever raced an F1 car to tell how close it is. I find the FFB in F1CE to be quite annoying. It feels good, but it can be very rough and noisy which I really don't like. Shift has or at least had potential, but I don't really feel it's very sim-like anymore, and with all the bugs it's pretty much unplayable. Dirt 2 is loads of fun, but I wouldn't call it a sim. So for now SCC is the game for me.

Dude .. you hit the nail on the head with that !!!

Myself moved from GT5p to FC then SCC .. and i am still and will always be a die hard GT fan . BUT you perfectly right to say it feels "boring in comparison to SCC" .. GT is still a kick ass game , but SCC and FC for a matter of fact has a better feed back on the wheel and just for that , i like it a lil more .

Now, imagen if someone out there. can give us a game

that has the cars and grafix of GT .. the physics of SCC and the custom kits of Shift/Juiced . tracks of all combined and the Modding from GT2/3 !!! (turbos, suspetion upgrades and stuff)

That will be a game of NOTE !!!

Well, I'm really liking SCC. I think it's even better than Shift. I just wish somebody had suggested I get it earlier ... :)

Give it another week at least. And then go back to Shift. Brake hard for the first corner and steer. Then come on here and write the first words that come to your mind. :) Assuming those words aren't against the AUP of course.

The difference is such that on Satuday I've sold NFS:Shift (+ a lot more of other olders PS2 games) and bought myself MW2.

And I did praise Shift a lot when I bought it (shame on me... Slash! Slash!... you heretic...Slash! Slash!...)

*Slash! = Sound of whip violently hit my back in self-penintence

I see that there are number of little improvements in functionality over FC - one major one being the ability to "race" solo within your own lobby while waiting for others to join. I can see that some of the tracks have been "tightened up" - Eau Rouge is way more challenging now - & the penalties have been rationalized. The thing that seems to be far, far worse is the AI, which is just ridiculous now - it's like the other cars are being driven by a pack of blind monkeys. :dopey:

It does sound like the lag issues persist, however, it seems like in small lobbies it's not much of a problem & there's none of that annoying sound & frame rate stutter.

I'm still not sure how "realistic" SCC's physics are, but at least, unlike Shift, or even GT5P, everything's there: driving is a complex series of inputs that you can actually feel effecting the performance of the car in a consistent way.

And hey, if you like rolling hills, you just can't beat a spin in SCC!

BTW: I came across eddietrout at the dead of night (aided & abetted by arvore) systematically & shamelessly stacking the Testa Rossa leaderboards. (Err... I had a go too) So fair warning .... ;)

Biggles and myself were in a private lobby by ourselves and we had some good racing. I'm not the best at the game yet, especially without the help of the racing line, so not all of our races were super close. The races we had that were close went very smootly. No lag, no craziness, just good racing.

I'm not sure if the trouble is being caused by having to many people in a lobby at once or just because of people being all over the world. Me and Biggles are in the same time zone. So the online racing is not totally broken all the time.

Announcement:

I would just like to announce that at the suggestion of my friend jjaisli, from now on, & until such time as I manage to improve my speed, I will be known as "Grandma Biggles".

 I'm dying here! Biggles! 👍

At least change it to 'Grandpa' Biggles or I'll never look at you in quite the same way again.

I give it about a month or less and you'll be leaving me for dead like in the 'old days'. But until then...expect no mercy. :trouble:

Nah, I think "Grandma Biggles" has a nice ring to it - & it's gonna strike fear into the hearts of those COD MW2 dudes ... :)

I must be great grandma Jason then, because Biggles is still faster than me.

I rely to much on the racing line. For now on when I practice offline I will turn the racing line off.

Posted on the Eutechnyx Forum this morning:

The patch has been approved and will be deployed shortly.

I'm guessing within a day or two we should be up and running.

Jeff, I don't think you read this:

The patch has been approved by Sony, but we have to wait for the Beta version to be approved. They both must be deployed at the same time. Shouldn't be much longer.

Yes I did, one post was made less than a minute after the other. I don't see this as an issue. It was the same last time there was an update.

Add to it Misano reverse, the Forum Admin himself wrote about it

hi all :) found this thread with the search function, so if its an horrendous bump blame the forum software

so yes, misano reverse! whats that all about? one of the quirkiest things i've seen in many years of driving games

if the forward version was in and this was a novelty alternative, i could see some sense in it

loss of licence perhaps, and the devs wriggled round it by using the reverse version?
