Why is everyone moaning about the brakes on the Ford GT40?? I bet in th 1960's, the brakes were rubbish on that car, because it was insanely powerful and quick, but brake technology then doesnt compare to that now. Hence the shoddy brakes - it cant stop because it hasn't got cross-drilled, ventilated 330mm discs with 8-pot calipers.

I havent even played GT4 yet though... :scared: :banghead: :scared:

Is there anybody reading this who is in any way surprised that KY and his boys have apparently screwed up these two American supercars deliberately?

The anti-American bias of the developers is open and blatant.

KY has bought a Ford GT lol I seriousely doubt he would make HIS own car handle like crap in HIS game ;)

maybe the bugged it's handling unwillingly because the GT was great in GT concept tokyo-geneva ..was reaaallly good then and the braking was awesome...
I really hope it isn't as bad as what you say :( or that they will fix it for the european release

Using proper spelling and punctuation are highly encouraged... people understand you better when you do.

I think people are complaining about the brakes on the Ford GT, not the GT40. The Ford GT is the modern spawn of the GT40, it's a 2005 model car. It's one of those new cars with a we-ran-out-of-original-design-ideas-so-we-will-just-copy-cool-old-cars kind of of design that is so popular today.

Best suprise for me is the Amuse S2000 GT1, I almost fell out of my seat when I saw it lol and I still drool over its awesomeness. S2000 is one of my favorite cars so this car is a dream come true for me, and it drives amazing! I doubt I will find a car I like more than this one...well MAYBE when I get the CLK-GTR hehe have to wait and see.

Not having GT4 yet, but having used the Zonda in Concept, and Ford GT in GT4:P, I can say that half the time the brakes feel weak because your going SOOOOoooo damn fast.

These are light and very torquey cars, and have you entering corners like 50% faster than you probably think your going. Is hard NOT to brake too late in these cars as they feel slower than they are!

My SLR McLaren doesn't wanna break. I have to put on the braks half way through the straight for it to start stopping.

I was quite happy with the TVR Cerbera Speed 12, usually its got so much power that it's undriveable, but i was suprised at how good it actually was.

I have probably only driven 10% of the cars in my garage. I was really looking forward to driving My RUF Yellow Bird, but it turned out to be fairly average for me, and same with the Ford GT, the handling wasn't up to scratch.

I'm really trying to find a race or competition whih passes the days by quickly. I've been in day 400 and something for ages as ive ben racing almost every endurance race - i have 7 or so million credits and nothing to spend them on - i want that carbon 787B at day 694!

have everyone forgotten that the cien is a CADILLAC. how many cadillacs have u known to have a standard transmissions and/or shift hard? KY isnt hating on americans. u do realize that car companies had to approve of the way that cars were modelled in the game dont you. im pretty sure an intense testing period took place when modelling these cars (many of u have seen the compressed video). everyone needs to get over it and just play the game. if anything, people should be complaining about the varying of available mods from one model car to the next and why identical engine blocks from one car to the next can be modded differently or come out to a different hp when completely modded.

Well said 👍

A neat little surpise car I found was the Chrysler Prowler. Won it in race and decided to test drive it before I decided to sell it or not and I really liked how it handled in stock form. So I'll be moding this thing soon and see what it can really do.

The SL65 is crazy. I have it with every mod and it has 999 BHP. My B-Spec driver ran the ring in 7:31

I thought you guys were exagerating bout the Ford GT, but that thing REFUSES to stop.

Have you driven any of these cars?. What about the Zonda and its breakes. What about the lack of traction in a supra? I think your jumping to conclusions.

HPA Stage 2 R32 - all around fun car, i dont know what that other guy was talking about it not handling well, mine handles great.

Lotus Carlton - random 4 door rwd car i bought to try and set up for drifting, actually works pretty well as it has a little weight to swing around.

Blitz Skyline - love it.

I had no problems with the cien. so it shifts slow, i still had no problem tearing people new assholes w/ it. Same w/ the Amuse Carbon GTR.

havent really found anything i dont like yet, except i dont know how to set up a car for dirt or ice tracks very well. i need to win a rally car and just keep it instead of trying to set one up

nice, a lot of cars to try
found something bad...
the Euro hall "1000 Miles" and the 24 hour eduranace races...
you gotta be kidding me

Good - BMW M3 Race car, since when did they ad rails on the track?? i swear i can put this thing anywhere on the track and it doesnt care.

Bad - Zonda, still cant stop it unless you brake it half way through the straightaway

Ugly - AI, still thinks that it is the only one on the track, if your just in front of an AI driver and brake a a bad spot, expect to get crammed in the @$$.

A little remedial English for some of our posters:

Break: To bust something

Brake: To slow down

Come on, folks. This is third-grade stuff...

Great - Lotus Cars - I love these cars, even the Europa Special handles like a dream! I have 9 lotus cars currently in my garage. :D

Bad - GT40 I spent 200,000 credits for that?!?!

Favorite car !!!!!! BMW 320i PTG team ..... a dream come true ! handling and brakes "WOW"
Maybe needs a little more power !

GOOD: Increase in Europe cars. I have 7 Mercedes right now. They are all problem free. Also, you can tune the Cizeta into a very good car. It is one of my favorites since it was designed by the same guy who worked with the designs of both Lambo and Ferrari.

BAD: Jittery screen at beggining of races. I mean come on, every tv at their development place much be a widescreen tv. Why? The widescreens don't have the jittery effect.

ALSO: Some say certain cars don't handle well or have stopping problems. The only problem is with you the driver. Learn to tune each car to handle the way YOU want it. Also, learn when to stop so that you don't go sliding off into the sand.

Mr. McShake
Good: I was surprised by the Trucks. I thought they'd handle a lot worse then they did. They stopped pretty well too.

Bad: I can't figure out how to make them talk about my car.

I know, they feel really arcadish.

trucks... what a pleasant surprise!
svt lightning is a nice add'n (haven't driven it yet.
sad not to see the dodge srt10.

thanks double R for understanding what i said. its funny that all these people that drive ford contours and honda accords around criticize how a supercar brakes or handles. have u driven one? i'll say it again. part of the hold up the game was because, manufacturers didnt approve of how some cars were modelled in the game so they have to be revised. every modern manufacturer APPROVED of how each of their cars were modelled in the game before it was released. and about the guy talking of the old caddys...did they shift above 9000 rpms??? do u know how much stress is put on an auto when it shifts at 9000 rpms. especially if the car is making 700+ hp. and yes i know the xlr is a 6 speed manual. but its basically a corvette in a cadillac shell. but anyway, we should just play the game and not worry about how cars are modelled because chances are, they are very close to real life. this is a ps2 after all.

Option 350Z. 800hp, but the immense turbo lag makes the thing pretty much undriveable.

That car is a TOP SPEED car. IRL thats what it is. They used it to compete in the Silverlake top speed comp. last year in nevada i think. It blew away every american pile and every other car there almost making it to 200mph when a strong wind blew it off the road causing it to flip violently....

Thats what the car was built for.

The NSX's in the game seem to have ridiculously high limits. As a comp, they seem to dominate the races. When driven, they do not oversteer at the limit as a rearward weight-biased car should (it is actually perfectly neutral ). Could this be a Japanese attepmt to boost the NSX's less than staggering sales in the US?

Actually you are terribly wrong. The NSX being MID ENGINED and rear wheel drive, when tuned properly it is a handling machine. The NSX's cornering ability with ease has been proven TIME and TIME again. Checkout some of the 'Best Motoring' series that are now being sold in the US. They test all different stock and tuned cars against others using profesional japanese racers. Including alot of D1 drifters

The '05 GT definitely has braking problems...but I've only tried it in the early mission hall race. Who has tried tuning it up (lightweight, sports brakes, etc) for better braking?
I put this in another thread, but I still really like my mazda kusabi, it handles great, just needs a few horses.

*The nike one is the most ridiculous thing i've ever seen. It sounds like a hairdryer. If we have cars like that in 17 years (it's supposedly a 2022 car) then we're screwed.

Edit: I was thinking of the 05 mustang Gt, my bad.

Since I've only played a little tiny bit of GT4, most of it being spent trying ot memorize the 'Ring, here are my props and complaints so far:

Good: Nurb, the huge selection of cars, the FD3S Bathurst R, NSX, EVO MR.

Bad: The handling on most of the cars is extremely twitchy, especially if you use the DS2. I have mastered the art of "speed-mashing" on the D-pad and also the X and other such buttons. However, it's taking a little time to get used to how responsive the new handling is. I like it but I would be a lot happier with a DFP (anyone wanna buy me one?).

Good: Death wobble in the Driving Force Wheel if you let go of it at top speed on a straight.

General force feedback from the wheel...torque steer, etc. Very nice details.

Over the hood cam. Much better than the bumper cam.

Race modes. I really enjoy the Capri Rally style events. Being penalized for bad driving should have been a bigger part of the game/ something you could turn on or off.

Sounds are much better this time out, although one would think that a free flowing muffler on a 440 six pack would be throaty, not higher pitched. In general I'm pleased with the engine sounds ( really like the burping from my SRT-4 Neon )

Bad: Music in general doesn't pump me up to drive, it's more like elevator music than anything else.

Other than that, I really have few complaints. Perhaps it's just because I'm happy to have the game.

What if you get a brake balance controller and set braking power to twice the stock strength? Does it stop the car like that? :D
