Yeah i agree with you on the trucks. That was the LAST vehical i wanted to buy, but really fun. I have a Ford and a Chev Silverado SS. Low effort big V8. I bought susp. and chip. Dont put dirt tires on- these truck aint for off road!! i Tryed to rally them, i would have gotten faster times pushing a shopping cart! I raised the susp, and softened the springs for dirt. If you win the begginner/trucks you get the SS chev.

I won the Japanese race to get the Nissan/option 350z w/750hp bah. I dont like it either. Perfect car for Hong kong/ korea/NY tho. I put nitrous on it. quick, but im still used to my 1100hp toyota GT1 from GT3.
I havent drove my 400r yet.
I started with a Mazda RX-5 RS, works good! I did everything to it, feels almost too light.
I got a HPI VW too. I like it, its 4x4 and doesnt corner like a Porsche.

The biggerst surprise was the toyota jet powered car. 190mph in first gear. 0 to 60 in like 10secs tho. you can get one in japan
I sold the abarth.

Im really pissed about the 24 hour races, that means I shall never get 100% :(

I have a life and while I thought it was GT4 I cannot endure multiple days on one track in one car....

Surprise cars for me: Mugen Motul civic 87 (handles like a dream) and the Buick Grand National (BEAST!!!) and in the stars and stripes race they gave me like 80 points per race!!!

yeah i know what you mean, i guess u could do them in B-Spec mode to speed them up and then pause when you have to do something else.

also about the trucks, the toyota truck (stock) apparently pulls as much lateral G's as a stock 350z, saw it at the DC auto show this year.

and about the guy talking of the old caddys...did they shift above 9000 rpms??? do u know how much stress is put on an auto when it shifts at 9000 rpms. especially if the car is making 700+ hp. and yes i know the xlr is a 6 speed manual. but its basically a corvette in a cadillac shell. but anyway, we should just play the game and not worry about how cars are modelled because chances are, they are very close to real life. this is a ps2 after all.

No, they made 500 ftlbs of torque at 2500 rpm, they didnt need to turn 9000 rpm. In fact the valves were designed to float at 4500 rpm. Old caddy's had huge engines, and with huge engines, you dont need silly high RPM's, cause with torque you can drastically reduce the rear-end gear (make numerically lower).

As for cars with auto's that shift at 9000 rpm, I have only ever driven one. It was a 327 with a powerglide in a 57' chevy drag car. Torque and heat is what kills auto tranny's, so it would depend on the motor in front of the tranny. I imagine a torque-less wonder motor like those VTEC's, wouldn't stress one all that much. On the other hand, a 396 chevy big block would probably need a seriously built Allison to survive.

The XLR is a Cadillac. From my understanding they were forced to use the Corvette engine, because a 5.7 litre Northstar that they planned on, would have made it more powerful than a Z06 could dream about. Only once has GM released a car that could out run a vette from the showroom, the 1992 Pontiac Firehawk. A "mistake" they correted the next year by neutering the Firehawks. From my understanding the Syclone, GNX, GN's, and TTA were all capable of it, but detuned to a point where they wouldn't, at least till the wastegate and timing were adjusted to where they should have been.

Surpise car: Bought a used Clio sport for the MR cup. Never used that car in GT3, seemed weak. OMG, I beat the MR cup with this baby easily. I was passing lotus esprit and NSX like bicycles. No tuning at all. Handles like a dream with no driving aids. Pretty fast too, even stock. Favorite car yet.

Is the real life Clio sport that fast?

Good: '70 Skyline GT 2000 R, fully tuned and sorted won the NA series. Mazda AZ-1, makes me smile just to drive it.

Bad: (although it's not a car) The penalty system in the rallys. I'm alright with a penalty for hitting the wall, I'd even by ok with a wall penatly in the road races, but a penalty for hitting the other car, or the other car steering into you in a corner??? When in real rallying do two cars get that close to each other anyway, except when one is broken and limping to the finish. The other car in the rallys should be a ghost car, not a moving obstacle.

Does the player get a penalty if the computer car rams him!!!
That is seriously weak!! :irked: 🤬 :grumpy: :odd: :banghead:

actually, what kills an auto is pressure which builds as rpms rise. TB's are just fluid pumps after all. so if u think 9000 rpms and 750 hp doesnt mean anything u are crazy. and high rpms are not silly. if torque was all that mattered, f1 cars would be running diesels and re-work the gearing. and everyone has to remember, the cien is a production car, not a drag car with a powerglide. i hate it when people say something is do-able because theyve seen it done before. companies have to make vehicles to meet countless laws while keeping it cheap enough to manufacture and make a profit. im sure cien's shift slow in real life and thats the end of it.
oh, and my suprise would be pretty much all of the old foreign cars. everyone already knows about older american cars. just picked up a tvr V8S and i like it quite a bit even though i think its only a '91 or something...its just what came to my mind since i just bought it.

This car caught me by suprise. I'm sure they're smaller in real life...

dunno why everyone s having troubles with their Ford GT....I can stop ioon a dime with racing brakes and a brake controller and nothing can outpace me fully modded. I can run all races with it up to the last Professional race against the LM cars and I've won everything with it.

Are you talking about the mortor triathalon race car? I drove it in the toyota demo, I thought it was horrible because braking was reverse current on the electric motors. By the way, I think its electric.

good:
- love the JGTC cars (woodone supra etc, gtrs etc);
- love the addition of more euro cars such as BMW (love the M3's/M5's), mercedes etc
- love the two aussie FPV's.
- sounds: love the skyline gtr sounds :o
- mercury couger :D
- nurb/el capitan/infineon
- driving force pro wheel :D

bad:
- drifting is too hard :o
- cant really do burnouts :o
- not enough aussie cars
- lots of similar skylines - but they still missed out my one (r33 gts25t). why have so many variations of the R33/R34/R32 GTR?
- option to remove the cars spoiler completely :o
- AI : god damn they piss me off A LOT.
- no clutch

Is there anybody reading this who is in any way surprised that KY and his boys have apparently screwed up these two American supercars deliberately?

The anti-American bias of the developers is open and blatant.

You do realize that he is one of the few "Ford GT" owner? In order to get one of those, especially in Japan, I'd think you'd require some connection. I work for an Ford Dealer, we are scheduled to receive whopping one GT(we aren't an small dealer either), and we haven't even seen it yet.

Also, I don't know which version of GT4 you've purchased, but on my GT4, "Ford GT" is the cover car.

Accusing someone of prejudice is an serious thing, and as someone said, maybe you are being too quick to judge?

P.S. One of my favorite cars since the first Gran Turismo has been the Dodge Viper. It is one of the most fun cars you can drive IMO. I'm glad that evil Yamauchi didn't ruin this bad-a** American car! :D

Yes, it was so hard to master driving that car, but in GT1 I think I managed to. In GT2 I was soooo pissed off that the blue one with white stripes wasn't available in road version. 👎 Because of GT1 and the Viper I went to the biggest car show in the Netherlands (auto RAI) to SEE A VIPER.... guess what.... no Viper, because of European safety regulations or something. :ouch:

When I asked for it at the Chrysler stand the guy working there was obviously also very pissed that the car wasn't there.

First off, my surprise car was the early 80's Mitsubishi Mirage. I know it's an crappy car, but I grew up in Japan in the 80's, so it's an nice familiar face for me.

I know what you mean. I couldn't drive it at first either, but once I learned to control the cars' insane power and the RWD characteristic, it was a total blast driving that thing, I sepecially loved cornering. 👍

Man, that would tick me off too. :grumpy:

the benz motor carriage looks great, I like watching the driver shift into second, too bad it doesn't have enough power to make it up the first hill at costa d'amalfi...

I gotta agree here, just bought the GT, put sport brakes on it, and it was fantastic. Did all 3 levels of lightening, fully upgraded the transmission, and it launched from stop like a bullet coming out of a gun. Engine is now almost fully upgraded (1 more NA stage to go), and it's rediculously fast. Put racing shocks on, and lowered it, which made it more stable at the really high speeds it can reach. But to tell you the truth, it handled great from the start.

I think everyone complaining about it must be playing a different game, or just in need of a bit more practice. The GT is definitely the road eating beast I was hoping for.

I was really surprised the Alpine 110 and 310. (They're French, only come in blue.) They're RR, and they've got some serious handling problems. Anytime you try to turn you have to fight against the rear-end swinging around.

Not good or bad, but a really unique feeling to drive. I enjoyed the challenge of driving them.

So now the NA and turbo charger stages are actual "stages"? In GT2 I could buy 4th stage without buying any of the others, so that's what I usually did...

good: shelby series 1 '03. great sound, good handling. Take it into the shelby manufacturer race and get an easy 200 a spec points per race.

bad: nike 2022! do i really need this car twice? i can't enter it into a race and i cannot sell it. so why two?

GOOD = more tuner cars

BAD = The Saleen S7 is not the newer 600bhp model
No NISMO R34 Z-tune (forgivable since the Mines car is there)
Where the hell is Keonigsegg???

btw, to the angus fella regarding Japans "bias"....the big boss dude of PDs two MOST favorite cars in the world......Skyline GTR R32 & Ford GT40 Mk4. IA nice balance isnt it:)

The Z-Tune! I couldn't remember the name of it, but I was hoping it was in!! :grumpy:

The Lotus Elan S1 '62 was a very pleasant surprise. I bought a new Elise, but for the 1000 Miles race I needed something older obviously, and had won one of these earlier, and was surprised at how well it ate up Nurburgring!

The good:
As unbelievable as it sounds, the Delorean is a great car to drive, and especially with a few mods doen to it. The onyl reason I chose to drive it was because a firend of mine had one a couple years ago and I always hated it. In stock for it was underpowered, but handled okay. GT4 actually nailed the engine sound and physics. 👍

The BAD:
I took the Toyota RAID rally car out on an actual dirt rally and it's nearly impossible to handle. The wheelspin is unbelievable! Seems like it's got a lot more power tan it's rated at. I have 400HP EVO that's a breeze to drive on dirt in comparison.

Good:

BMW M5 on the Ring
Cittia d'Aria

Bad:

I am addicted...just..one...more...lap....

No, you can buy the 4th stage of tuning, turbo or NA. You still have to do the lightening by each stage.

Oh, and when you buy a used car, go check to see if you can buy the option to make the body rigid again, because a high mileage CRX is a little weak in the body dept.

Good:

The Mazda RX-7 FD35 Bathurst... mann this thing goes like stink, and with racing medium tires... handles like a f1 car. Just don't take the hill on El Capitan at full speed. I musta launched that thing about 20 feet off the road. Turns a nice 1'54 lap at that Umbria rally too.

S2000 type V - Smooooth handling car.

NURBURGRING! Awesome. Simply awesome.

The handling on the muscle cars is MUCH better than it was in GT2.

Good:

-M5 really surprised me with how much faster it was than my M3. One sick ride, but change the wheels.

-European cars are siiiiick. I'm obsessed! The old Ruf, paint it black, put some GNX wheels on it, and you can almost convince yourself you're driving an RSR...

Bad:

-I enjoy driving regular cars at the 'ring, so it takes me a while to turn a lap with my M-B 190 2.5 Evo. :D

-Seems I am in a select few that can drive the Ford GT with no problems. I am using a DS, how about the guys with problems?

-Used Volvo Wagon... I fully built this car thinking it would be a funny drift vehicle... It  decelerates almost completely to a stop when turning... I know it's realistic, but just keep it out of the game. Anyone could go buy that kind of realism at their local used car lot for about the price of a DFP :yuck:
