Anywho, before there are complaints about being off-topic, I do have a question. Since Suzuka is going to be updated, does this mean that the events that are already held at the track will feature the new version?

BTW, great comparison shots, @FrzGT. One day that yellow Honda will be there to take some great photos of the Spoon Corner. :) That will also be a great meeting place for online car meets, I reckon. 💡

It's possible but I doubt it. We will probably see this track in seasonal events and of course in online mode.

I love the smell of spec 2.0 in the morning ;)

I don't know if it will be a SPEC 2.0 but I'm looking forward to the end of November ! :)

It's odd you say that. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Godwood events feature the newer version of the track after PD updated it with the Mercedes sculpture? I was under the impression that such thing was the case.

Surprised Suzuka-west has been planned for addition, I missed that variation.

First time in awhile PD has surprised me

Nowhere did they said the West Circuit was in. That portion of the course was repaved recently.

Circuits created for GT6 are characterized by recreate immense environments.

Apparently they are working with some new technology for streaming data and I wonder if the new Suzuka will benefit from this.

All it says is that the West part of the track has been resurfaced, doesn't say that we will receive that version of that track (other than when we drive the full version of the track).

One of the main reasons for the rabbit system is that the PS3 cannot handle 12+ AI cars on screen in close proximity without having substantial frame rate drop, so PD in their wisdom decided the best solution was to spread them out far enough that we never have more than a few AI cars on our screen at once. In the early days of GT5 we had proper standing starts, but the frame rate would take a hit so PD took this option away from us, rather than build an optimized game that could handle multiple AI cars on screen at once.

Don't seem to be a problem on the redbull junior & standard events, standing starts work perfectly with them & the fields pretty close to.

Forgot karts aswell.

I can't imagine them mentioning it if they didn't plan to do something with it. Though this is PD, so who knows.

Hopefully it does get included, GT6 needs all the content it can get.

These all look like positive changes but maybe a few months too early given that the runoff at Dunlop curve is about to be tarmaced over.

It is actually less taxing on the system when all the vehicles are the same model.

The karts I can understand because there really isn't much to a kart as far as rendering goes. I've never touched a redbull car or event so I wouldn't know anything about those. All that shows is they're trying to figure out a way to make it work with newly optimized vehicles/tracks. The fact that all the other dozens of events (are there dozens?) have no standing starts and the fields are spread out by many many car lengths supports my position. As does the fact that standing starts were removed from GT5 early in its life.

It is actually less taxing on the system when all the vehicles are the same model.

There ya go. And I can't think of any other one-make races in the game beside the karts and fantasy cars.

The old version of Goodwood was deleted and replaced by the new version ;)

We wiil see if Podi will keep the old Suzuka :)

Updated Suzuka, and the return of west circuit.

something important and lacking has actually been updated.

PD is delivering :)

If you read the post from PitStop & @Jordan 's article, it says "Newly resurfaced West COURSE", not "West part" or "West section". This is one of the few situations that one single word can make the difference ;)

Again, all they said is that the West portion of the track had been resurfaced in the last few years and now the GT6 version will reflect the change in track surface. Presuming that this means you will get the Suzuka West dedicated track is nothing but presumption which is how hype-trains get formed (and derailed).

Yes. That means there exists a portion of the track in real life that is used for the West Course which in real life has been resurfaced since the GT team captured the data many moons ago. The story states this will now be reflected in the GT6 version of the Suzuka Circuit. It does not say anything about the dedicated West Course being added to GT6 as a stand alone track.

“The people of the Suzuka Circuit themselves listed up the differences of the track, from when we first data captured the track years ago for inclusion in Gran Turismo, and what has been changed now. They were incredibly helpful in our data capture session”. So, something like "Oh, hey, we resurfaced the West Track, which is 99% fully included in the full version of the track, so you might want to reflect that when you update the Suzuka Circuit".

The "West Circuit" runs from the exit of Dunlop, to the run up to the Hitachi Chicane with a connector between the two spots mentioned. It was repaved. It's the west part of the main Suzuka Circuit.

How anyone is getting "Suzuka West Circuit is being added to the game" out of what PD posted, is reading between lines that aren't there.

Actually I just took it to mean we were getting west circuit because that's what it sounded like. Sorry for making a mistake :grumpy:

I won't disagree with you mate. I thought it, but sometimes it seems so strange and it makes some people saying something like: "Oh come on! How difficult would be to just add and remove some barriers to make the layout???"

It did certainly sound like GT6 would be getting the West Circuit based on how they worded it, but anyone who's dealt with this company over the years knows to read between the lines and to never get your hopes up.

I agree with you, and I've wished they had included the West Course for as long as I can remember. But in this world it isn't always as simple as just removing some barriers, they have to have permission from the owner to actually use it and for whatever reason that isn't always possible. That's why we couldn't race F1 cars against other cars in GT5 and that's why Porsche isn't in Gran Turismo. I'm not sure why Suzuka wouldn't want them to use the West Course, or that this is even the reason you don't have it, I'm just saying there are reasons we may not think of that are more complicated than simply removing some barriers. 👍

I think it will be like Silverstone. If it had a full day-night cycle I imagine they would have shown a night screenshot.

I guess you're right... but still I don't understand the tracks duplicates like Suzuka, Monza... and why Suzuka East or Motegi alternative track haven't time or weather changes.

We don't actually know if we are or aren't yet. Like you said it just sounded like we are.

I do wonder if PD will keep the outdated version of Suzuka, after all you said that old Goodwood was deleted and replaced, so... :) Who knows? That's about as big of a mistery as the "Are we getting the West Course or not?" question.

There's 1 make races in the coffee brakes aswell but cant remember if there standing starts, anyway I do agree with you regarding a mixed field being more taxing but most of the field are made of standard cars anyway apart from the odd few.

To me the rabbit racing needs to go, at any cost.

Is there any difference aside from the statue? I thought the track was exactly the same just with a different statue.

I think if there is an agreement to get tracks for FIA updated, this might include removal of outdated versions.

No, only the statue was changed. I was quoting Goodwood since it was a new version of an old track that replaced the old version on its event. That was related to my doubts about "New Suzuka" replacing "Old Suzuka" on the events that are held at the track.

I really hope that they replace the existant with the updated Suzuka layout, there is no need to have 2 circuits in game like LeMans when they only use the newest one in single player events.

I figure it replaced it because the track is the same. I think it's not the same as a different version or new track layout.

I do wonder the same thing, I'm curious if the FIA agreement calls for removing the outdated tracks they update. Excluding historical editions.

Why's that? I can have a 6am test session at Spa, La Sarthe, Daytona RC, Nurb, Motegi RC, and they all have full 24h time cycle.
Motegi is 24h? Thought it was like silverstone's time change

If PD consistent, they will probably keep both variants, such as what they have
done with Spa & Nurburgring, they might even assign a year to the variations.
