I think that we should try for the normal start first and if there is an issue with it then we go with the alternate start method. That way if everything starts out good we wont have to deal with any confusion in resetting the grid.

Talking with IforceV8 today, I heard in the Thursday practice session you guys practiced starts. It sounds like the best way to start the race and avoid any lag issues is to add one lap to the race and have the first lap be a parade lap. Then everyone would start at say the 5:00 minute mark on the Total Time clock. This will give you a chance to warm up the tires and hopefully avoid any lag issues for the start.

Eh, parade laps are too sketchy.

Why change it now that you've been running standing starts the whole time?

The solution's simple, do a 1 lap test race. Make sure every one's connection's good (without black screens of slow), then start the real race.

My solution, instead of a parade lap everyone stays on the start grid with their brakes on when the race starts. Once everyone says "i'm good, no black screen of death" we start the race at the next full or half minute interval on the total time clock. That way there is no parade lap and no trying to set up the grid again.

If everyone is good to go at the start then there is no reason to adjust the start time of the race. But if there is an issue then the people can call out and we can reform the grid.

What I would try is turning off the false start. In other races (not in this series) I have had issues where the screen was black for an extended amount of time or not even see the warning that false start is on. So there might be a issue with the game when running with false starts. Also if we are going to go to an alternate form of starting the race having the false start on is kinda pointless because it will never be used.

We have had an issue since the first Tuesday race and just now changing the start in the 4th of 5 races seems like too little too late to me. But for the second season I am all for some sort of start procedure if PD doesn't fix the problems they currently have.

Just to restate what I think we should do.
Leave the start procedure the same as it has been, if there is an issue with the grid being shuffled or people not starting on time then reform the grid for the start of lap 2.

Read a couple pages back and it will explain why a fix is needed. We have run 3 rounds and only 1 had the correct grid. The first race was our fault for being in the pits, and the last one was a freeze issue that screwed one-third of the field.

The simple solution is to qualify,do a one lap race that will be nothing more than a parade lap, then what? We go back out and run another 2 laps to start the timer then restart and hope that the connection will hold again??

Booch's idea is much easier and should work fine but it isn't very realistic racing. Also can the people w/o mics chat while parked on the grid when the clock is going? If one of them is stuck how would we know?

Prophet i'm past hope for the best. The grid lap makes sure that all are in the race.If someone is stuck then they can be nudged back in,and the added benefit is that we can get some heat into the tires for turn 1.It cant be that hard to drive around 1 lap and not remember where we parked. The grid is numbered,a switch to chase cam will show you were your at.

1.Qualify-(this needs to be addressed too but that's another discussion)
2.All cars on the clock to ensure correct position
3.Start race
4.Wait-do burnouts-grab a beer
5.Race starts.
6.Nobody goes until they have checked position with chase cam if needed.
7.Warm-up lap-someone (Mchid81) with a mic can hang back to make sure everybody is rolling.
8.Reset grid and wait for the designated time to start.
9

Problem solved and all that needs to change is the lap total from 20 to 22

All you need is one person that cant hear what is going on to mess up the new start procedure. So what is thought as something simple with just a few people can turn bad quickly with a lot of people.

There is no harm in trying turning off the false start.

And there is always setting the lounge up to do a rolling start.

We might as well figure out what works and what doesn't that way if someone else is having the same issues they can get a workaround for it, instead of just giving up.

What if you have no way of telling that you still have the black screen? I'm neglecting to use my headset and you can't access the chat when you have the black screen. I think in the last Sunday race my counter started from 1 if I remember.

Is there a way i can join the Sunday Series i will not run for championship just practice for the next one that you do

good luck to everyone! Last race of the series and it has been very fun! See some of you tuesday! I will be practicing in my lounge if anyone wants to practice before race time.

I guess for the last two races of the series we will keep the same starting procedures we've had. I will add 1 lap to each race so that if there is a lag issue again we can sort out the grid again and start on an agreed time on the total time clock.

Yeah that's fine. Send me a friends request and you can race the last two races. Today at 3PM and next Sunday at the same time.

Great race today guys! We had no issues with lag at the start. Congrats to CIAFlux on the win!

Congrats again Prophet, that's 3 in a row! I'm pretty happy to have finished second after only getting 10 practice laps for this race, all being during pre-race warm up. Thought we put on a good show even though the last lap was the least exciting of the 21.

Congrats on taking over the points lead as well! The 1 point gap means next weeks track position will be for the championship. Team orders??? :-P

I heard IForce is running some 23's so it looks like there is some work to do before Tuesday night. Should be another good one!

Team orders are the guy with the current highest points gets to win ;)

sorry I did not came yesterday because i had to lunch with my family , hope next sunday can race again

I made a complete mockery of myself yesterday  I mean, you can't say any race where you get lapped by the leaders TWICE is good, can you? Still, at least I got some points. :indiff:

Also I found a much better tune in the after race practice for Laguna. It makes the steering heavier which prevents the wheelspin from happening as much. It also makes the first hairpin harder to get through as well. Though I was probably braking too late. And I'll still come last, totally  Still, at least the Corkscrew isn't as bad as I thought it would be. :)

Hey, CAMikaze told me about this event, and I'm interested in signing up. Sunday afternoons work better for me than Tuesday evenings, so may I sign up for the Sunday afternoon series and be in the reserve for the Tuesday evening (which appears to be full anyway) series? My PSN is Ruta_Baracuda, and my car colors are Yellow/Black with #24.

Edit: I see you're almost done with the series anyway, so maybe I'll just wait for the next one. I'll leave that up to you.

Hey guys, we've only a week or so left to go, has anyone given any thought to starting another series with different cars after this? I've really enjoyed the racing and, surprisingly, the challenge of tuning this frustrating little car..lol. And it's great for me to go on Tuesday nights as every other weekend is a write off for me. I'd definitely be up for another spec RM series, or a near spec series such as GT300, or a spec production series on readily available and popular cars like the NSX's, RX-7's, Lambo LP400, etc. S

I'm getting ahead of myself, but something that could be interesting and challenging is to vary the hp for different tracks. For example, 300 hp at Tsukuba, 375 hp at Deep Valley, 450 hp at Sarthe etc. all in the same NSX or RX-7.

Maybe we could discuss it here before we throw it out in to an open forum?

I've been planning an Exotic challenge cup, but setting it up will take a bit of time since all different cars are being used for all of the 10 races I've provided.

we discussed doing another low-hp race using the Nissan March. Of course, that depends on someone taking the time to organize the event.

Yeah this Sunday is the last race at Laguna Seca but your more than welcome to join. We've only had 8 drivers max for any of the Sunday races. Tuesday Nights are around 14 drivers. Just send me a friends request if you want to race. :)

I was thinking of either keeping the Cappuccino's or switch to a front wheel drive RM car like the Honda Integra or Civic and keeping the power around 200hp or so. Whatever the car is one or two nights during the week would be best for a full race grid. Weekends are too busy for most.

I will be starting a new job next week so I'm not sure if I will be able to still host a series in the next few weeks. If I still can the races would have to be either 9 or 10PM.

You know I would have thought the same thing, that weekends are too busy for most, but it seems like 99% of the series out there are Fri to Sunday so I can't find anything to join in, which frankly sucks...lol.

I'll race anything but I'd like to try a spec series with some more hp. Don't have much experience with any FF cars so that would be a challenge. I'd do the March too but I'd rather step it up a bit if I had a choice.

You've done an awesome job Mchid and it would be great if you could host again. If not, maybe someone, or a couple of guys can step up and take over the hosting duties and maybe you could look after things in the background or something like that.

Great race tonight! Congrats to NingDynasty on the win!

Thanks Mchid81! I was pretty worried about this week's races since I've had very little track time on the many different configurations of Cape Ring and because I was away at Sebring and didn't get anywhere near my normal seat time.

I got 10 laps in the pre-race session on Sunday and the 20 laps(Damn that last lap) fighting with Prophet really helped me get the line down. Got a 30 minute session before tonights race and made a few tweaks to the White Chocolate Mocha and felt pretty confident in her going in.

Didn't see quite as fast times as I expected (or was getting in my practice session) and was able to get my 5th pole out of the 7 series races I've been in.

First lap was kinda hairy in the final hairpin (coincedence?) but everyone seemed to get out of it without any major damage. I tried pulling away and did eventually to about 6 seconds. Then my heart stopped as I spun in the uphill/reverse corkscrew. IForceV8 got by me and we battled for the next few laps till it looked like he lost it in the same spot I did before. After finally regaining my breath I tried to slow my pace up slightly so I wouldn't blow the lead I had over Prophet. When I saw it reach 8 seconds with a few laps left I noticed the two of them battling and was pulling for the teammate to help me out in the points standings.

Good race, good win, good team effort. Thanks Prophet!

You wouldnt of got away from me so easy but my cat fell off her sleeping post and didnt get up right away so I stopped to see what was up. Surprised it only took me down to 3rd though and I was able to reclaim 2nd at the finish.
