ATARI ANNOUNCES SECOND TEST DRIVE UNLIMITED DEMO
- Road Test Racing Reinvented with New Demo Coming to Xbox Live Marketplace -

LYON, FRANCE – 23 August 2006 – Atari today announced the forthcoming launch of a new Test Drive Unlimited playable demo for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, via Xbox Live® Marketplace. Developed by Eden Games, Test Drive Unlimited has already excited gamers with its massive array of single player challenges and diverse online multiplayer delights. The new demo will be released Thursday August 24th 2006 featuring stunning new vehicles, new challenges, longer play time and a host of other enhancements to give gamers a tantalising taste of racing reinvented. Test Drive Unlimited is scheduled for release across Europe September 8th 2006.

The first Test Drive Unlimited playable demo, released during E3 2006 as part of Microsoft’s initiative to bring gamers closer to the event, was downloaded close to 200,000 times from Xbox Live Marketplace in one short week, bringing the demo in third place overall amongst all downloads during the period. Feedback from the global gaming community proved vital in giving Eden Games a clear direction to improve the quality of the final game and deliver the incredible experience Test Drive Unlimited now offers.

With the new demo allowing up to one hour of play in a 60km² area of the graphically polished and geographically accurate Hawaiian island of Oahu, players will have time to discover a stunning new house, three delicious new super cars – the Ferrari F430, Ford Mustang GT and AC Cobra – and one brutally powerful motorbike, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. Players can choose to accept one of the four new offline challenges, take on either of the two new online challenges with up to eight players racing simultaneously, launch instant challenges against anyone they encounter on the road, or just burn gallons of virtual gasoline tearing around the lush tropical roads in free ride. Other enhancements include tighter handling, snappy gear changes, customizable speed blur effects, optional in-car camera vibrations, improved lag allowing eight player online races, fully operational vsync, an incredible level of overall graphical polish, and much more.

“We know Xbox Live gamers in Europe are eagerly anticipating their next taste of Test Drive Unlimited,” said Richard Teversham, Platform & Marketing E&D EMEA, Microsoft. “Test Drive Unlimited gives gamers and their friends an innovative combination of driving skills, connected gaming where ever you are, and unbeatable graphics that harness the power of Xbox 360. This exclusive game is a great addition to the Xbox 360 portfolio.”

While the new demo gives a good flavour of what to expect from Test Drive Unlimited, it barely scratches the surface of the final game which offers over 1000 miles of roads, 90 of the world’s most exclusive super cars and bikes, and unlimited online challenges. Test Drive Unlimited is racing reinvented.

Test Drive Unlimited is scheduled for release across Europe September 8th 2006 and the new demo is available via Xbox Live Marketplace from August 24th 2006. For more information visit www.testdriveunlimited.com.

I'm really looking forward to playing the new demo. Really want to try out that Kawasaki Ninja.

I will definetly be playing this demo tomorrow. I think the Just cause demo is also coming out tomorrow. Cant wait to play both!!

That's the problem. In the UK I think Dead Rising and TDU are both being released on the same day. Going to have to save my wages.

There is review in the German GamePro magazine... 84/100 ... what they don't like is :
- some pop ups and doesn't really run smooth
- steering is not perfect, not really sim, but not as smooth as PGR, but ok nevertheless
- they didn't review the online mode yet, which is of course an important part of the game.

The test video i saw had about the same grafics as the E3 demo, maybe a little better.

Gamepro says : A great game, but no blockbuster.

It's part of the USA.

They don't have to be converted to LHD to be road legal afaik.
I said near, because it's not connected onto the land of the US lol, anyway I hope the demo comes out before noon guys.

I am not positive but I believe the TDU Demo 2 is out right now for download. I am at work so I cant verify this yet. I am sure someone in here can confirm this rumor.

The game is certainly an improvement from the pervious demo. It plays and looks even better than before. There was this guy in a room that was following me around for about 20 minutes earlier. It was pretty fun. :)

Thats great news and I actually liked the first demo a lot! Is the 2nd demo really an hour long now? i am so excited I cant wait to get home to play this!

Yep, it's an hour - it's certainly enough time to have a proper look around now. :)

What made it miles better for me was you can now change the controls. Before, the buttons to change gear were VERY annoying. Now you can change it to how they are arranged in PGR3.

IMO, the car sounds still suck a little... Though I've just used the F430 so far.

I have the new demo.

The time limit is - 1 hour

The vehices you can choose are...
- Ferrari F430 Spider
- Ford Mustang GT Coupe
- AC 289
- Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R

You start off in that house right to the east of the map, however the area of the map you can drive on is the same as in the other demo. Theres more challenges to do and they all seem to have variations in the rules like some have traffic, some have traffic and police, some are knockout challenges some have no traffic ect.

It's a good demo, just a pity they didn't open up a little bit more of the map since we now an hour of play time.

Thats excellent news about the demo being an hour long. 👍
I also noticed the car sounds werent the greatest in the first demo but I really could care less considering everything this game has to offer. You guys are going to drive me nuts all day until I can get home to play it. :sly:

Oh.My.Gawd.

The new TDU demo is effing AWESOME! The Ninja is so damn fast. All these fools in F430's kept challenging me!

This is reason enough for me to get a 360..soon as i have the funds.

Sod it, one pic was a huge motorway intersection thingy and the other looked like a race trac with rumble strips etc..
