TDU2 patch update and free DLC info.

27 days isn't awful. How long did EA take to patch Call of Duty Black Ops? Have they ever? I mean, it could be worse.

Also, you have to remember that Eden/Atari did NOT beta test the consoles. They ONLY tested the PC version. And if it's only 30% of gamers getting the data error, that would probably be easily missed in Closed Beta testing.

It's also an MMO, and a lot of the big bugs in MMOs don't come until you've got the heavy load going through the servers. And one of the first problems they ran into was there wasn't enough servers for the load. So, they got more servers and turned them on. I'd give the game a month or two and it'll be running smoothly and without too many issues and Atari will be focusing on other issues like adding more championships and fixing the incorrect gear change in automatic and allowing people to sell the useless prize cars.

I'm aware of the issues with this game, but so far I haven't really had any problems. Only a terrible slow down once, probably like 10 frames per second, during one of the speed trap races when all the AI cars were doing U-turns, and running into water. I never had trouble connecting online yet. A patch would be nice, but I"m still playing. The only thing I'm worried about is the corrupt save file, so I keep backing it up. It better be soon, so I can keep enjoying the game.

I find it amusing that some of the people complaining that TDU2 has to be patched are the same people playing GT5 which has been patched 7 times, with more planned!

I have really enjoyed TDU2 as much as I have GT5. And I will be picking up Shift 2 on release day, and I will not be surprised when they have to patch it half a dozen times.
It's just the way of the industry now.
In my opinion the online capability of modern consoles has made developers lazy.
I don't remember having these kinds of problems with games on the Genesis, Super Nintendo, PS1, etc.
Developers back then tested the hell out of the games before release, because they knew that once it went out, that was it.
Now they are more than willing to put out a sub-par product to start sales as early as possible, and then look to clean up the mess with updates.

I am sure this patch, and any future ones for TDU2, will improve the game in the same manor the GT5 updates made it better.

^I never bought GT5 it was a christmas present. And I have hardly touched GT5 at all since I got it as a christmas present. I have maybe 15 hours into it, just guessing. I had 60 hours into TDU2 before my first corruption and then put another 60 hours into it after restarting. So thats at least 120 hours into TDU2 within 2 weeks. I havent played it in 2 weeks and wont play until its patched. GT5 is just a 20% finished joke and I have voiced my opinion MANY times about GT5 but no sense in getting into that in this TDU2 thread. Its just more proof about how bad games are getting. Release now patch later is beyond frustrating. At least TDU2 will eventually work. GT5 will never even be close to finished ever unless they convert all the standard cars into premium. 6 years for 20% complete game is embarassing and insulting.

Its by far as not as bad as tdu2 they have made a decent job on the cars on tdu2 apart from they are alot of standard cars. but atleast pd they are getting things sorted out much quicker then atari and eden. it took gt5 1 day to fix the online its took tdu2 nearly a month and its still not patched.

I think if the patch isn't out this week I'm going to sell it while I can still get something out of it. Rather ridiculous that it's taking so long, such a shame too as it's a great game but has such huge flaws.

I'd say this week or next the patch will be out. That's about the normal 2-3 week turn around time for patches and things from MS and Sony.

@Mazda. Really? PD's getting things sorted out quicker? It's been 3 months since GT's release and there's been 7 updates. It's only been a month from TDU2's release and there's been 1 update for the PS3 and PC thus far.

New Official Word, patches have dates. DLC dates soon to follow:

Hey Everyone,

The latest news from the development team is in. Please see below for the most recent update regarding the progress on the console patches:

TDU2 Community,

Thank you for making TDU2 a huge success worldwide. We’ve reached the top of the sales charts in many territories and continue to work diligently on making TDU2 the best persistent-world racing game on console and PC.

The first of our game optimizations for console will be live tonight on Xbox 360 at 1am PT (9am GMT) and PS3 is soon to follow. This update will resolve a corruption issue that some players experienced with their saved game files. In some cases corrupted files will be automatically repaired.

Available on Monday, 3/14 at 1am PT (9am GMT) will be a patch that should address many of the outstanding concerns that some of the community experienced on PS3 and Xbox 360. We have worked diligently to stabilize the network and address log-in issues. Friends lists will now be populated, invites will work correctly and Clubs will be brought back online. The Casino has been optimized and the bug causing players to lose money has been resolved. We have also addressed many of the exploits in the game and will be monitoring cheating in all its forms.

The TDU2 community has been a great support to the development team and we look forward to rewarding your loyalty soon with free DLC content. We should be able to provide dates once Microsoft and Sony approve the content and will update the community as soon as they are expected to go live.

Best,

The TDU2 Development Team

Best thing is, Day Light Savings times starts this Sunday in the US. So, technically, we'll be getting it an hour earlier.

Just a reminder there are 2 patches coming out.

Patch 1. Friday 3/11/11. Fix corrupt file saves (thats the only focus and so far it has been working for many members!!)

Patch 2. Monday 3/14/11. Resolve all other issues

Not directly. They know about it, and have said it's on the top of the community complaints list, but at the moment, they're dealing with getting everything working and haven't even begun to consider plans to fix it, yet. But, it's the top complaint, so, I'm sure they'll be a fix eventually.

Whats this pink mustang bug then?

I may be wrong on this, but i think it has to do with the selling your cars thing.I'm pretty sure the cars you win cannot be sold, but others can be and only when you don't have enough room in your garages. So many are wanting this fixed so you can sell your won cars and to also be able to sell a car whenever you please.

Actually, TDU and Halo are the two games where I've encounter the most women. With TDU being at the top. There are a lot of girl gamers out there (I know a few). The problem is most of them are playing more serious games like Dragon Age II and Dead Space 2. Granted, it's usually the guys in TDU2 that leave their mics on when they're going to the bathroom or taking a smoke break. But, there are plenty of women playing TDU2.

I played TDU2 all weekend long. Won the R8 Casino car yesterday along with well over $150,000 between Poker and the slot machines. I won a LOT in poker yesterday. Great day for sure.

Patch #2 is supposed to be released today that fixes all the issues with the game. Anyone try it yet to see if they can find friends or the other issues?? If everything is working then I will be in the poker tournaments all night for sure.

Yeah eat what he said.

How was the PS patch, did it fix the handling with a wheel.

Thank you.

Even though the patch did not come out yesterday on the 360, there is something positive happening for sure on the 360 servers. I was in the Casino lounge and at least 28 people were walking around in there last night. And I saw people in the slot machines. I dont know if the 2nd patch is officially out yet but it was working VERY well by about 10:30 pm EST last night. :)
The new Halo Reach maps came out today so at this point I am not too concerned with the patch.
