Test your connection with GTPlanet

BandwidthPlace has a nifty little tool I just started playing around with. It allows you to detect the connection you have with any server on the Internet, provided you know how large a particular file is on that server. I want you to test out your speed with my server, so here's the information you need:

Go here: http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/rs_start.html

Absolute Path: https://www.gtplanet.net/605.jpg

Size in KB: 605

Just enter that information and click "Start the Test", then post here and let me know how it goes. :) I'm getting speeds between 2.7 and 3.8 MB/sec.

Mine says 40 KB/sec. What is this in MB and is that good or bad?

Well, it depends on what type of connection you have to the Internet. Roughly 1,000 kilobits make up 1 megabit. Are you on a dial-up modem?

Yeah.. I have a 56K modem, but it usually connects around 115.
 
After about 5 minutes it said this...:mad: GTPlanet's server is probably the fastest I've seen though. Over at corvetteforum it takes ages to load a page, here it's a second or two)

1 MB download @ 26.2 sec.

And this is on the "fast" computer at work.

I don't even want to know what the one at home is rated.

I see, around 40 KB/sec is completely normal for a 56k modem.

Funny, it sez i got 680kb/sec when i dled the Gran Dorifto at 900...

MistaX, I've got you beat - on a good day I can pull down - get this - 5.3!
 
I can't be bothered downloading any software to stick a screenshot up here so, here it is: 966.1 kilobits per second on DSL
 
i get 1.3 and 1.2 but if i refresh i get 123 and other numbers
 
do you have ms paint? print scrn than edited the unnecessary parts.
 
I'm getting 423.2 kilobits per second on my DSL connection, and 1mb dl @ 19.8 seconds
