You killed me šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

Wouldnā€™t it be better to post it in one of the already existing threads? I mean, one thread with a hundred messages about quitting the game would probably have a bigger impact than one hundred threads with one message each, since nearly all of the threads will be inactive and buried far away from sight.

Out of curiosity, where do you think PD is directing their resources? Genuinely curious to yourā€™s, and other peopleā€™s thoughts.

A non-answer is not going to be considered.
Trying to make the game brilliant again they they said massive changes are coming in November

I think the same.

Itā€™s funny. SO MANY people bitch and moan about GT7ā€¦ and what PD ā€œshouldā€ be doing. Yet, thereā€™s not a lot of critical thinking going on as it pertains to what they think PD is probably working on. People act as if PD is literally just sitting around playing ping pong all day.

I find it amusing

I mean, really, on an internet forum in 2022 I don't think there should be a single context in which you could post the OP and not get/expect snark.

Giving each other piggy back rides, going to the bank to cash checks from fashion companies and going to video game and automotive PR events to talk about how great they are.

I do hope this answer is of the appropriate level to have passed your purity test.

I appreciate any responses. Especially the snarky ones.

However, you did prove my point šŸ‘šŸ¼

... issues with the lobbies are well known. The answer has always been that you should avoid GT7 for leagues, just use GT Sport until PD fixes the lobbies. If someone chooses to use the lobbies knowing that they're one of the most unstable parts of the game, they do so knowing that there is a very good chance of issues arising. When people take that risk and then complain online when things go wrong, they should expect that not all ears are going to be sympathetic.
Well-said IMHO mate.

Running leagues or regular, friendly get-togethers, one had to know that glitches would be a regular part of the mix 'til PD sorted the lobbies out fully.

Thankfully the company's demonstrated, especially last week, that it hasn't "forgotten" (as if it ever had) about all those who love the private-lobby aspect of GT.

This said, IMHO it can't do any harm to create a thread such as this one. If nothing else, it could serve as another reminder to PD (again, whether it's necessary is besides the point; I'm sure the company's been aware of it since day dot) that peeps really do care about racing their friends online on their own terms (car, rule, track & weather choices).

I do I donā€™t understand the fashion link and car it is supposed to be Gt7

As someone said on a previous but similar thread:

This isnā€™t an airport, so you donā€™t need to announce your departure!
The member in question hasn't said they are leaving GT Planet, simply that they are no longer playing GT7.

As such your comment (and similar ones) seem more aimed at shutting down dialog that actually being constructive, after all the members post highlighted an issue that clearly impacted not just one person, but an entire league! It's a valid point for discussion and a valid post, which I can't say the same for those looking to shut the conversation down.

Quite frankly far more of an issue exists with those members attempted to shame a member into silence over a valid issue than with the OP raising the issue in the first place.

I understand how he feels , I think its because he actually cares , he wants the game to be great like we all do , so I think his hope is that if he comes on here lets his feelings know PD might, just might, see it, as they dont seem to have an "offical" forum.
Thats my take anyway.

Now you are talking bad about ping pong . . . I quit (until tonight at least)!

The OP as all the right be as gutted as it is.

On the current state of the GT Series and sim/simcade racing games in general, specially in this title seriously lacking single player content, it is expected that online racing should work smoothly, at least as it worked on GT5/6 on PS3, to say the least.

To add salt to the wound, for those who are younger, I remind you, on those days we didn't need PS Plus to play multiplayer online, Sony didn't charged us any monthly fee to get access to this features. And, in some countries, the monthly fee is kind of hefty (like, in Portugal, it costs me exactly the same thing as the fee for the premium sports channel that broadcasts exclusively F1, MotoGP, Indycar, WRC and World Superbikes.

And, with GT7 you only are able to play the Daily Races in minimal conditions, it's just short of anything.

That was a nightmare at times too tho with people not seeing each other. The only thing it didn't have was terrible lag (spikes) :D
Didn't used it much at the time, worked the night shift most of the time those days, but still raced a couple of leagues from a Portuguese forum and never had issues then.

As long as there is cross play, Gran Turismo 7 online will always be broken.

Think of it as (video game*) socialism.

.....Its never worked, and it will never work.
Can't really disagree with this actually. I think the issue has to do with more things than this, but the PS4 playerbase interacting with the PS5 guys, considering the disparity in hardware, should have an impact, even if minimal.

But then again, a few other games don't have the issues that GT7 has with the multiplayer. GT7's Sport Mode is actually good, haven't noticed any glaring issues (aside from technical stuff like the penalties obviously), but the Lobbies??? Those are an absolute train wreck, lag everywhere, impossible to race on.

... But... At the same time, GT Sport, which uses the same servers, and is exclusive to PS4, doesn't have anywhere near the issues. So.... you might actually be onto something here.
I think there's some value in threads like this. They're not particularly pleasant or insightful, but it does add quantity to the voices of displeasure. If you run a small studio like PD with limited resources, it makes sense to prioritise fixing issues that are the most talked about, and that get the most attention. Keeping silent about issues just because they are "widely known" serves to justify the glacial pace and misplaced focus of PD, in my opinion.

That is, assuming PD are semi competent developers who are even mildly interested in fixing the dumpster fire that is GT7.

I don't enjoy GT7 much at all. But I keep investing in it, doing my daily workouts, keeping a healthy bank balance, in hopes that one day it can live up to its potential and deliver on the promises made by its developers. As such, I will voice my displeasure about the game, because I want it to be better. Those that silently drop the game and move on don't do the game any favours. Is that really what is preferable?
My feelings exactly.
Aside from PD being a small studio and, lol, having limited resources. They are actually one of Sony's big dogs.

I'm all for threads like this, it's more voices showing their displeasure with the game. As if the over 10k extremely negative reviews at metacritic weren't enough. And its negative critics that will push a game (or anything) to be better, not the positive ones.

The worst thing about all this is the way PD communicates with its playerbase. ........ ...... They don't... We live in a time where such a thing is of utmost importance and several big studios have adopted the social media way to speak with their audience and get the needed feedback. PD needs to move on with the times.

As someone said on a previous but similar thread:

It's not an airport, but last time I checked it was a forum...where free speech was allowed. Many users seem to not understand the frustration and only make fun of OP.
Does he deserve it? Absolutely not.
Did he insult you? Absolutely not.

Yeah it's SO amusing when you see someone trying to fairly criticize the game or PoDi here, only to be dismissed as a bitching and moaning crybaby because a number of members think that something they don't see as a problem is inherently fine. Fun!

It's also amusing when we are no idea what PoDi are actually doing because for whatever reason they literally do not communicate. It's really cool when I don't know if my feedback reaches the developer at all.

It doesn't take a lot of "critical thinking" to tell that neither GT7 nor PD are fine.
It's not a matter of discussion that the game has glaring problems in its core elements, it's a fact; basic game design stuff like menus that are a chore to use, inhumanly broken economy, objectively pointless Roulette system, license tests that are there just for the sake of being there, the "Discover" section still has no sorting options... I can keep going.
PoDi are easy to criticize because almost nothing they do feels like it's feedback-driven. Criticizing them is also futile for the same reason - there's no telling if they consider or even know what people think is wrong with the game. This is the biggest Gran Turismo forum on the Internet and all we know is that "PD look at GTPlanet", but they do little to prove it.

Ranting - no matter about what - is there because more often than not, people actually genuinely care. I know I used to care.

Yeah OP, you have my sympathies and all and I agree with you that lobbies in this game are a broken, garbage mess, but why make a thread just to say that you're leaving? Looking for validation?

Why should we care? I quietly left this game two weeks ago when the last update on GTA came around and I didn't made any fuzz on it.

You should find it concerning. What we are seeing is Alpha level deployment, not even open Beta.

When creating a new game from a previous title, you make a new code branch, and you regularly merge in changes from the Live game (in this case GT Sport) to make sure you keep the current game up to speed with state of the live game. Obviously, this is reviewed so you don't stop current development, but it should still be a regular occurrence.

In the last update we FINALLY got the GTSport chat function. The game released 6 months ago.

It should 100% be of minimal impact (technically speaking), but if the lobbies are following the rest of the code (as I mentioned above) then, of course, there will be problems.

We should ALL be upset by this.

OP, I feel your pain. Partly.

I've given up on games that were just too damned hard. Elden Ring, I am looking at you.

I've had train journeys from hell that had me close to quitting my job.

Books and movies I couldn't finish.

My ****ing laptop this morning which decided it wanted to sleep a little longer.

And don't get me on my first marriage ....

If venting helps, then go right ahead. Just don't be surprised if not everyone has the same experience.

I'm totally with the OP on this. I only bought the PS5 for GT7. Last week I sold my PS5 with GT7 for roughly half price so that I can't give it another try. Every time I gave GT7 another try something would not work properly. There're way too many issues to list them all. The bottom line is I work very hard for my money. I spend my money on things to make me happy in my leisure time. GT7 does not make me happy at all. I've been playing GT since the first one, I'm now in my 50's and I value my free time very highly. This is the worst GT by far in my opinion and caused me nothing but frustration and wasted time.

There are massive changes coming in November to Gt7
