The almighty VW Beetle 1200 '66, what are you going to do first?

Yes but lets but honest, the differences from a modelling point of view aren't huge are they?
As the '49 version is an old gen, low-poly PS2 model, I'd say that they've certainly made the new '66 Premium one from scratch.
I doubt it is really possible to "convert" or "upgrade" Standard models to Premium quality.

Actually they are, the base design may not have been changed much but almost any detail has and thus has to be completely remodelled, let alone the '49 being a Standard model and therefor couldn't be used.

I'll buy one to leave untouched, and one to modify... Maybe some Torq-Thrusts...

Some sweet pastel teal or blue (I used to own a pristine '79 Mk1 Rabbit in this very colour):

...Blue one looks so good, how I wish GT5 had 5 spoke Fuchs rims

I've put (Torq-Thrusts) on 2 of my Sambas, painted them Silver Chrome which makes it an acceptable alternative, although different obviously, for Fuchs in my opinion, arguably even better looking.

Well, I couldn't wait, so I did a SambaBus in that scheme:

@ Analog: with a silver chrome Samba Bus, you're not afraid to be mixed with a Airstream travel trailer?

I'm sure he meant that he painted the wheels chrome, not the Samba (although I've seen it done).

I'm modding the heck out of it, and turning it into a Nurburgring Specialist, I'll then buy another and tune that for drag racing. :D

Hope PD correct the wrong weight issue ASAP!

For drag, use the stage 2 turbo, short 1-2nd gear. I could do 0-100kph in around 5 and a half seconds :) 14 seconds dead on the quarter-mile.

I haven't done anything to my Beetle (yet). I just took it to the new Planet X test track and tool a very leisurely drive. As I recall, it took just over 15 and a half minutes.

Guys what is the max HP you can give to this Beetle? I lovee this car, it is a legend!

Brand new, not broken in, 216 with everything and a stage 2 turbo (stage 3 turbo makes it 213 hp)

The car is brilliant in stock though, no tuning needed :)
First thing I did was to paint it black and go for an online drive at the ring. All the Audi R8's and GT-R's pulled over when they saw me and just followed me around track. What other car has that super power?

Full weight reduction and engine mods, stage 3 turbo, and zero suspension tuning can make for an exciting drive:

Yes it does. lol

You sure you didn't have a friend or two to help you "block" them like Jeremy, James and Richard did in the Cheap Alfa challenge? jk, I expected nothing less from the beetle :D

When I first got the car (in GT), I had my iTunes paying my 26,000 songs on random. Perhaps the most Beetle-ish song I have came on at the same time. Coincidence?

I prefer this one :D

I hadn't noticed that before. I just put on a Mid-RPM (stage 2) turbo, and while it does give 3 more HP, the HP and torque peaks are at ~2500 rpm and drop quickly after that, whereas the High-RPM turbo's HP & torque both peak near 4000 rpm in a more gradual curve.

My drag beetle uses the mid-rpm one, does 14.006 on the 400m. The top speed one, uses the high-rpm turbo that seems to suit it better... could get 238kmh with it... want 250!

So far I've got 6 Beetles: one stock, one modifyed to match the one I used to own in real life, one for dirt racing with raised suspension, one Cal-look, one German-look, and one set up for drag racing, brazilian style!

I'm having so much fun with the Beetle! We should start a Beetle Cup race series for online racing!

Will someone post a link to a video with a mildly tuned Beetle on stock suspension and comfort tyres being driven hard, but not in the popular tyre smoking drift stylee?

Really wish I could rip the wing off and stick it on one of the RUF's, just looks plain silly with the lack of any accompanying visual mods.
