Theres another one of them with the older cars. When I went to see BTCC at Silverstone they were selling that and the other as a set for around £50.

What style of art is that? I've seen it used a lot for cars, and it looks amazing. It's not a real picture, but it gives off a real feeling.

I would be amazed if you could find any part of Monaco that has tarmac as smooth as that, nor a rumble strip that is as generous and clean.

Nope. I'm pretty sure that image is from the 2008 Belgian GP, maybe the Italian GP, but I don't remember Vettel being behind anybody.

It's the title winners The Accord never won a championship. Plato, Muller and Thompson won in the Astra.

On lap times, probably so. But even then I'd expect the fastest car on there to be the yellow 2000 Ford Mondeo that Menu won his second title in, given that the car was the last of the Supertouring era and the cars were making the full 300+ bhp, that'd been going up from the 270bhp ish of the mid-nineties.

Actually from what i've just googled, they are pretty equal on times. A 2003 Astra was half a second slower around Donington than a RS500. With tyre and brake technology the current cars will have at least equaled that. But it's impossible to judge really since virtually all the circuits have been altered in some way, with perhaps the exception of Donington, which quite possibly has been resurfaced since the late '80's.

It's raining too hard to be Belgium, and Vettel was never behind Raikkonen at Monza, but I don't think he ever was at Japan last year either, so it's a bit of a mystery.

The car is Marlboro sponsored so in countries where tabacco logo's are banned the barcode replaced it.

True, but remember the 2000 and earlier cars are very different from the 2001-onwards cars. That was where the supertouring era ended and they went to super 2000 specification. Drop in power, smaller wheels with narrower tyres (and by default, smaller brakes - thefront brakes on supertourers were 17" IIRC, the wheels on current touring cars are 17"), limited effectiveness of aero bits etc - so yes, it wouldn't surprise me if one of the Astras that dominated earlier this decade is up to the pace of an RS500, but the supertourers of the late 90s should be a fair bit quicker.
