If youve got 250 credits left after all that VtiRoj, then youve got no excuse, wash your car!
Here's a vid ive borrowed from another thread that shows me racing a very fast Dutchman, im following him, and losing the 2 lap race by 2 tenths after a 4 second deficit on lap 1. Just some lines to see..... Thrashed by a Dutch guy
You're all using the cars off my list now.... loox like i'll have to get inventive.

Here's your MR2 lap in PAL:

Do you think if i buy a car and put on race tyres and leave a little amount of money for other things would that get me a good time?

VEXD: Thanks 👍 now lets see if I can give my S13 one last nudge into the 8'09s... and wash my car? NEVER!!! :D

SliderMan: The differences between S3's and R1/R2 tyres on such low powered machines is minimal, but theres no harm in trying.

I best fire up the ps2 again for another late night :) must.. get.. better!
This time im DEFINATELY going MR.. I feel most comfortable driving them..
Second-Gen MR2 anyone?

Aiiiiieeee, my poor S13 is sitting against a wall right now, nose first >_<

Thats one amazing lap VEXD, I could keep you in my sights until about 4 mins, then you were completely gone!

Thanx for the props dood, the rest of a VEXD lap is in the previous post i left, where i get thrashed by a dutchman in Mustangs at a live race event.

Im going back to race him and HUGO BOSS in May :scared:

Fully prepared to have my ass handed to me :D

Here's my latest:

Daihatsu Midget II D-Type '98 cr 2870
Changed the oil cr 50
Fitted a stage 1 turbo (only a stage 1???) cr 4500
Fully customised the transmission for the additional gear (ahhh! i see) cr 10000
Fitted a sports exhaust/air filter cr 1500
Then a racing chip cr 1000
Then washed it cr 50 (thats important with all this power)

Which cost cr 19,970
And yielded 63 BHP! :scared:

and so to the ring....

10'10.77x

There is a slight off (its tiny) just after Wehrseifen on this lap, thus i claim it dirty, and un-replayable.
But i'll be damned if im going to run it again.

Just for kix, now to some cars with more than 103MPH flat out to offer.....

:irked:👍

I disagree, most would find the cars limit very quickly, and get bored of lapping at that speed.
The results would be close though, its a good way to even up a field of drivers, as past UKGTP (search) events have proven.

Dont do it! :sly:

:irked:👍

Don't worry, im an obedient person ;). Damn I really need to get better im way back in last place, I got a great car at the moment just need to practice, I must have said this a million times already lmao. Maybe its just a lack of experience.. ahh well.. I will have have a lap time or two posted any time soon

Here's a short vid i found that Sphinx posted up a few months ago when i did quite well in the WRS.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YK80_LOLeaA

I'm on sports mediums, but carrying a little more power (600 odd BHP).
It has a nice soundtrack, and some standard lines put down by me, which may help anyone still struggling to work out where they should be for each turn.

You'll notice, that gear selection for turns is just as important as angle of entry.
The Nurb requires that you are ready for the turn, 2 car lengths before you get to it. :sly:

Maybe it will help, but of course it makes me feel better cos im showboating :)

I tried 3 more cars this evening, but nothing came close to the MR2 time, so i have a few left to have a crack with, including the one in my avatar/garage, and i'll update the thread when i get chance to run this weekend.

Good luck to all

:irked:👍

Well, I haven't done any of these challenges before so I thought I would give it a go. I put together a used MR2 with and had an absolutely beautiful second lap at just barely under 8 minutes!

Problem is, I didn't realize that this car checks out at 197 hp or 199 hp except in my garage, where it magically has 202 hp. I know this is an old bug in the game, but never had to worry about it before.

So you'll have to make a judgement about the legitimacy of the lap. If you accept it, I'll post the full requested info. The second lap was so clean I also saved it to make into a video for this thread (before I noticed the hp/garage issue), but I wanted to get your ruling about the acceptability of the car before I spent any time putting all of that together.

Here are are couple quick pics of the screen:

And here is a link to the video I mentioned: http://www.thatmacguy.com/gt4/MR2.onering.mov

edit = The RX7 has 192hp after mods.

Panjandrum.... i'd like to see the breakdown of your cars cost, the cost of the tyres, oil change etc, to see if you're within budget, other than that, well done!

Its good to see some fresh people in here with fast times straight off!

As for you stidriver :D That's an awesome time! It must be the tyres that do it, (and the driver of course!) i never thought i could afford race tyres, so i didnt look, i think i rationalised it with "the sports give a nice slidey ride" anyway, which i prefer to all this glue-like grip.... but there's no place like first place, good work.

Last night I ran a 8'03.273 in a MR2 I made. I'm not going to post a picture though until I get a lap under 8'00.000. I think MR2s are the best cars for this type of racing.

Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX STi Version II '95: 9,617cr.
Oil Change: 50cr.
Intercooler: Racing: 3,000cr.
Turbine Kit: Stage 1: 4,800cr.
Racing Chip: 1,500cr.
Flywheel: Semi-racing: 600cr.
-----------------------
Total: 19,567cr.

Ran a meager 8'14.304. I spun out twice getting used to the handling. I think it was a bit too heavy, I had trouble getting it around corners without it just sliding everywhere. I'll have to tweak it some more, maybe get rid of some of the power and reduce some of the weight, or get some better tires.

Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX STi Version II '95: 9,617cr.

The BHP limit is 200bhp.

So many people faster than me now, eep! :nervous:

I may have to try racing tyres on a S13, probably another K's 1800cc. But it'll leave me 3-4k for actual parts. :yuck:

Oh oops, didn't see that part about there being a BHP limit, thought the money was the only constraint. Back to the drawing board!

Ive edited my tips post that i made earlier, as ive been shown to be totally wrong when it comes to my 'advice' to not fit a wing to these cars as they dont really need one, by stidriver's time, which i think has been produced by the combination of wing, tyre choice, and supreme driver talent.

I have replicated his car's tuning exactly, and run one lap, which ended in a 7'51.
This is some 14 seconds quicker than i managed in the original RX-7 tune i did, which had no wing, nor race tyres, but was a good lap by my standards.

Therefore, disregard any tips i give about being fast in this challenge! :dopey:!

Sorry guys
:irked:👍

Hmm, I actually had enough credits spare from my S13, that if I removed the flywheel, I could attach a wing. I may give it a shot once I finished playing with this 270R :D

Thanks on the lap VEXD. I see you found the some of the extra time the car has in it. I was losing speed as the rear was coming out under trial braking on me. It was fun looking at the replay and seeing all the body roll in the turns and the nose dive under braking.

My 3rd Silvia. Its blue this time.

Nissan Silvia K's 1800cc (S13) '88 - Cr.6,600
Oil change - Cr.50
Weight reduction stage 1 - Cr.1,000
S3 tyres - Cr.5,600
Stage 1 turbo - Cr.4,500
Chip - Cr.1,000
Wing - Cr.1,200
Spent - Cr.19,950
Left - Cr.50
BHP: 200

Basically replaced the flywheel with the wing. And I still have Cr.50 left!

I'm hoping it can pop a 7'59.xxx, otherwise I'll have to use something other than a RWD Nissan! *shock*

Well, there might be a few courses where a wing doesn't matter, but on the ring, grip is of crucial importance. Thus I chose a car which had enough power stock, allowing me to purchase tires and a wing for increased grip.

I run the occasional amateur auto-x, and the guys who have been serious about that for a while always say that single best upgrade you can get for a car's handling is tires, period.

I'm going to post my car configuration in a sec...

So wash it already!

:irked:👍

Never!! :grumpy:

That Cr.50 is going towards gloves. My hands sweat alot. :guilty:

My S13 put in a 8'04.771, and I know theres more to give. I'm taking the corners faster than the previous Silvia, but it isnt the fastest this Silvia is capable of.

Edit: 8'00.987! So close!

OK, here she is:

Toyota MR2 G-Limited Edition - 1997 - 37900 (something) miles: 8260
Oil Change: 50
Wing: 1200
Stage 1 weight reduction: 1100
Racing Flywheel: 1000
R1 Tires: 8100

Total = 19,710

Best time to date = 7'59.992

(And boy did I keep that pedal down for the last 30 seconds. I knew this was going be close!)

I might try a better time in the future, but I was totally "in the zone" on that second lap even though I've I've probably spend less than 30 minutes total behind the wheel of an MR2 before. (Never saw much point with other great MR cars like the Elise around...) I'm also pretty much obsessive about having completely clean laps, which probably limits my times a bit as I tend not to push 100% to the limit and risk an "off". If I get the time I'll post a very "quickie" vid, not because it will be especially exciting, but because it was an extremely clean lap!

I definitely don't want it to sound like I'm inexperienced on the ring however. I drive the ring a LOT, I just haven't taken part in an online challenge like this one before.

Well I'll be damned. I was only .6 ahead on the straight, but because I just kept my foot to the floor for half a second longer before braking than previously, I managed to wipe off more than a second off my time. So yeah.

7'59.883

So, wheres my membership card? :sly:

Hmmm, am I the first Nissan to go under 8 mins? :D

Hi.. sorry I been away from the action for a while.. blimey the times are quick im like the only one not under 8 mins I swear! Must get my act together :) I will try to get the leaderboard updated ASAP.
