Wich should be the track for the last race?

@MadRR: Do you think that gearing will be able to be altered on the Caddy? I was thinking , as it's a Rookie car that only the suspension, tyre pressure etc would be changable (much lke the Mustang is)... đź’ˇ

This car is crying out for a Class C or even B series! 👍

I didn't even think about the gearing being fixed or not. It will probably be fixed gearing and fixed a setup for that matter being a rookie car now that I'm thinking about it. Your right it should be a B or C class car. I keep forgetting it's going to be a rookie car.

So have we confirmed at day and time yet? Also what about setups. Are we doing open or fixed setups?

I do have one suggestion. I'll race either way long as I can make the time, but since we have the schedule for next season and they are rotating 4 tracks in the official series why don't we start on week one and use the first 4 tracks following the iracing schedule and choose 2 tracks of our own for the final 2 races?

I know one of the main things in this series is staying with the free tracks that come with a subscription, but a few of us will be running the official cts-vr races already. It will just make for more practice time and also there will be setups available on the forums for those tracks or if we decide to use fixed setups iracing will have basic setups for those tracks I would think. What do you guys think?

Maybe something like this:

Week 1 - Mosport International Raceway
Week 2 - Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Week 3 - Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course
Week 4 - Infineon Raceway - Long
Week 5 - Okayama International Circuit
Week 6 - Watkins Glen/Motegi GP
For the series we will stick with the basic content + 2 tracks, the point is to keep costs to a minimum so everyone can join in and race!
Now I do like the idea of running practice on Sunday evenings so we could do that independently from the series.

Will you guys be showing your cars off on this thread? With full livery and all?
Hell yeah! There's already a few conceptual liveries floating arround for some teams! ;-)

This is a full on race car so you can expect a very wide range of adjustability on it, very similar to a GT2 car! In fact a few years back it wasn't uncommon for WC GT cars to be adapted to GT2 Specs.

I realllllly like this idea. Running parallel to the official series for the first four weeks is a great idea merely in terms of practicing. I want to run the official series but won't have time to practice two different tracks in one week.

This proposed schedule has three free tracks and three pay tracks. Is one extra pay track really such a deterrent to participation?

I feel like if you aren't willing to buy a few tracks here and there, iRacing is absolutely not for you. Only a few series cater to running only base content, it is not the norm and not what you should be demanding of everyone else. I vote for open setups, by the way. Its a full on race car.

Yeah probably so. Either here or in the paint schemes thread. Mine is a couple post up, but since we don't have the car yet can't post a picture of the paint scheme on the actual car.

Nah I understand you guys don't have the car, just thought I'd ask ahead of time to see where they'd be shown.

I was planning on starting 2 weeks after the regular season starts to give everyone a good chance to get to know the car and understand the setups better.

I understand and personally I don't have any problems with using other tracks, but I don't want to close the door on the guys who are just getting started.

I think I might be using this skin on my car!

Could run a couple "pre-season" races alongside the official series. Like week 3 and 4, then start our series. I didn't look at their schedule to know which tracks those are, and the official series does not use all base content so tweak the weeks to correspond with that if that's what you want. How about a poll for how many weeks can be pay-content tracks? No more than half of them.

Any idea on what day of week we're going to run this? Or are we not that far along yet?

Really hope I can race in this. Setting up to be a cracking series.👍

How long are we waiting to start after launch of the CTS-VR, that weekend? The weekend after the 1st?

Quick skin which I've thrown together. Going to add abit more to it above the rear wheels (probably something in relation to GTPlanet), and once the car is released I'll just check that it all looks OK.

We can definitely do that!

I'm pretty sure it's gonna be on the weekend most likely Sundays.

Yup, pending date/time I'm still in.
We're looking at either Sunday or Saturday arround 18-20GMT.

Looking a starting either the 6th or 13th at the latest!

Loving the basic concept! Looks awesome!

Cheers, I must say that your livery looks great. Nice and clean with good contrasting colours. I think they look so much nicer when there 'simple' looking.

Three free? Laguna Seca and Okayama come with the Rookie refresh pack but the other four you have to pay. I'm one of the newbies to iracing and I don't have any of those additional tracks, so up front that's $59.80 for a series that doesn't contribute to your irating. :boggled:

I see it as an investment as I will need these "proposed" tracks in the future, it just hurts the wallet when you do

I still haven't got my butt into gear and made a custom paint livery. Looks like I'll be plain Wayne

Oops. I got confused somehow lol. In that case I understand not doing all the same tracks as the official series. Nonetheless, if we do run a track that is in the official series we should schedule it on the same week as the offical one.

Jav, are you going to put up a poll on the 6th track after the first race?

I'm ok with whatever tracks you decide. We need to run open setups though if we are sticking to mostly base content tracks. I vote for Motegi to be our 6th track. Also are we going to be racing weekly or every other week?

Sign me up also, sounds like a great series. 👍 I've been looking forward to the release of this car. :)

I'm rather new to the iRacing forum here at the planet, but I recognize a couple of names from the WRS events.

Just want to say hi to everyone here and I'm looking forward to the races. :)

Are we going to have one drop week available? That might be good for those looking to reduce the cost of running this series since they'll be able to drop a pay track week.

Going further with this idea, if everyone is alright with paying for one track then we could replace slime rock park with one of the many great pay tracks. I only bring up this idea because I detest lime rock park and I think a lot of other people do as well.

Not sure on open setups, it may hugely gap the field as setup in this car is going to really make a big difference. The only way I see us running open setup is if someone can provide fast and stable setups for everyone.

Let's wait and see, maybe we will get a special deal for the Caddy tracks, Motegi is going to be a free track isn't it? Haven't seen any promo or pre-order stuff on it like we normally do with new content.

Motegi is up for pre-order now.

I quite like Lime Rock so hope it stays. Although I would prefer it without the uphill chicane!

As Javs first reason for this was to make it accessible to as many people as we can I think 'locked' setups would suit this series better.

Yes I agree, but like I mentioned earlier it's going to be hard to run fixed setups on the base tracks. Tracks not on the official schedule won't have setups available from iracing. That's why I think we should stay pretty close to the official series and run fixed setups and if not we should run open setups. If not I'm not sure what to do about setups for the base tracks. A baseline setup for Okayama is not going to work at all on a track like lime rock. That being the case someone is going to have to make setups for everyone to use at the tracks not on the official schedule which would be all the tracks except for laguna if we were going to do fixed setups.

I understand this is supposed to be a entry level kinda league more or less. You got to think about it though. Had the deal between cadillac and iracing not went the way it did, as in iracing having to make it a free car, this car would be $12 like all the rest of them and most likely and B class or C class car with open setups. Would not be a rookie car.

Motegi is up for pre-order now.

Yep must have just popped up there today. I went ahead and pre ordered it. Between the 25% off and $7 credits I already had it was only $4.21 for me :). Was thinking about waiting till I get my $10 participation credits to get it, but I'll just save those for hosting private sessions.

Damn it!! Lol!

I think we can all work together in adapting the setups for the respective tracks. Let's face it, this car is all we're gonna be driving on week 13 and the start of the season, that and you can pretty much expect a lot of hosted sessions with the Caddy running all over the place!
