Join the Official Chevrolet Corvette club now!

It's easy, just ask :)

when you do, all you have to do is add text to your sig stating you're a member of the club..

Yeah, automatics blow 👎

But still, it was good enough to be the second-longest running Corvette generation (following the C3, then, in order C1, C5 and C2)

Automatics are for Rolls-Canardlys

^ automatics are not really as fun or challenging, to me anyways. Where's the skill required? Not to mention i believe automatics make more dangerous drivers becuase they don't have to be as in volved in the driving process as a person with a standard tranny.

anyways, C4's are cool, not my fav, but they did have the....... ZR1!!!!!!!!

I agree. Not as a 27-year-old, but as a 16-year-old, especially today: it gets teenagers' hands off their cell phones and onto the shifter and, consequently, their eyes onto the road and their ears listening to the engine rev. If I were a 16-year-olds' parent looking for a $8500 car, I'd get him/her a 1999 Saab 9-3 manual: front side airbags (in fact, the 9-3 is the cheapest car available with front side airbags), serviceable, turbo engine means slow to pick up speed, manual transmission, hugely practical because of hatchback design. That, or a 95-97 850 Turbo/T5 sedan. Yum, turbo. But those were all automatics. Yum, automatic. What am I talking about?

Sorry for hijacking your thread Victor.

I also used to think vehicles equipped with an auto were a joke. Do 'I' think they are less challenging? A little. Less fun? If the car makes a ridiculous ammount of power, I don't care if it is a 2-speed or a 6-speed. It's going to be a wild ride!

Fitting I tell this story in this thread.. The first time a friend of mine 'borrowed' her fathers automatic Lingenfelter C4 and gave me a ride, I was convinced manual transmission cars lacked something. 6 Years later, I'm still convinced for the most part.

On the street/drag strip I personally would go with an auto any day and every day. On a road course/highway it would be a manual. However, I don't race on the highway and there are no road courses here. I also cannot stand the fear/worry of missing a shift, and the outcome of when I do miss a shift. If you drag race with a manual you will miss sooner or later. The outcome could be as minor as loosing a race, or as major as popping your motor. Years of that pressure has me seriously thinking twice about installing another manual into my street-drag car.

Back on topic: The price of ZR-1's has dropped in the last couple years. wow! It's weird to see a car that you grew up admiring, but knowing you would almost never be able to afford one, suddenly become affordable..

The LT5 is pretty but it's a pain in the ass to maintain. Not to offend it, it is quite a marvel, a 32-valve four-cam, but an LT1 is almost as powerful, a hell of a lot cheaper, and pretty reliable.

Never underestimate the power of the pushrod ;)

As for automatics, well, let me say this: If I owned a C4, I wouldn't be racing it in a straight line :p ;) That's also a reason you have to feel the clutch out before you just let go, but it's a lot safer just not to speed-shift, power-shift or whatever 'cheater' shifting techniques there are...

My friends, please feast your eyes on this:
It is a Calloway C4 Corvette "Sledgehammer." Power is 898 horses, 772 ft/lbs. Said to go in excess of 254 mph, and go 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. The quarter got ate up in only 10.6 seconds.

Does this give me enough certification to be in your small club? :trouble:

Just saw a C4 with a so called "cross fire injection" or something liek that. Do you have any info on what that is? Ive never heard of it before?

That would be the L83, perhaps the single most s**tiest evngine ever put in a 'Vette, save the C1's. 200 hp. However, it did sound good. It was probably an '84, because the L98 replaced the L83 in '85 and there's no '83 Corvettes. I like its music but when it comes time to play the 0-60 song the engine blows 👎 The L83 is a disgrace to the 'Vette. Ask any enthusiast, they're garbage.

I have a load of C4 Corvette History and I will be posting it within the next few weeks.:)

AHH....MY FAV GENS OF CORVETTE!! :D:D

one question though... I always wanted to know what is the max power the LT1 can go (when upgrading) I've heard of a C4 "Viper Thumper" thats is 800RWHP (with a LT1 motor)

is there any other C4 more powerful than this?...

Sorry For the long, overdue information. As many of you know, school has started, and such programs as GTP are filtered. My computer access will be limited for a while.

I might join your club. I would feel weird joining a Corvette club when I don't even have a Corvette, but I've always really wanted a 1989 Corvette. It was the last year that they had the digital instrument cluster & the first year that they had a 6 speed transmission. You shouldn't keep bumping this topic either. There is already a link in your signature.

Sorry Nick, I was just a little worried that this club was getting no attention. Anyway, it's now a Corvette club as opposed to the C4 Club. Anyways, more of a fan club then a club, since I don't own a Corvette :dopey:

I think I'll join. Maybe someday I will own a 1989 Corvette, with this cool instrument cluster, it's six gears & it's 340 lbs of torque. Long live the Corvette.
