I'd like to see them implement something like NFS MW or TDU where you have to drive to an event or road once to "unlock" it for fast travel. That way you still get to see everything the game has to offer, but if you want to return to the same place it doesn't get too repetitive.
As far as I can tell, that's exactly how it works? You can't fast travel to any location/road you haven't already visited. They do make it a bit easier to get around by having the shortcuts (train stations, airports).

Yes that is how it works. Does anyone else think pvp is OP? I mean if I gold a mission I get $1.5k and about 3k exp but if finish LAST in a pvp race I get $13k and 9k exp. Not really complaining as I'm using to power level lol up to level 46 and just about to start the mountain states missions.

Having done all the previous betas and now actually owning the game, I only have one real negative thing to say:

The amount of cars to pick from is laughable. So few and the ones you can pick from are pretty underwhelming.

I don't think the car count needs to be big in a game like this. I hope you're not getting used to 1000+ car counts in car related games. The fact that these cars can be modified to completely different specs expands on them though. It allows us to use more vehicles for off road events, and the trucks at least have use on road too then.

I should have probably jumped in some PvP then. I'm 33 and just heading to Miami after driving over to Vegas to unlock the Raid spec. I don't want to fast travel anywhere, not even by train or plane. Drove the 95km from upstate NY to Vegas, just finished the 100km+ from Vegas to Miami via some detours to data stations. It's a lot more fun this way for me. It slows my leveling, but that's ok.

Same here, but reversed - I drove from the glades to Dallas to Vegas and I was absolutely amazed by the scenery changes. The missions are fun, but freeroaming and discovering the gigantic, beautifully crafted world is where this game really shines.

By the way: I think PvP missions get you so much payout because they take so long to complete. You could easily play 10 story missions in the same time, so its kinda equal. Sadly, no dice for me yet, I just cant seem to find anyone willing to play one of them and since adding your friends to your crew doesnt work on PS4 yet...

Nope most PVP races are shorter than the missions. here is the pay out for a PVP race that took less than 6 minutes.
I think the missions you are thinking of are the faction missions.

and here is a video of me beating a vastly superior raid car (682 Vs 1160) in a PVP race. the race took less than 2 minutes and gave the same sort of payout as the screen above.

Less then 2 weeks til I get The Crew! I'm still debating on whether to start with the 370Z or Challenger SRT. I'm not getting a Camaro or Mustang because it seems everyone is choosing those, especially the Camaro. And I don't like the look of the rear of the Mustang on The Crew. I really like the look and sound of the 370Z. I'll probably use it for the whole story (As it can be used in all specs) and buy cars once I complete the story, my goal for the crew is to own every car in every spec at Level 50. Might take a while. I hope there's a Corvette (Seen a few videos and haven't seen one Corvette). A few people are negative towards this game but, from what I've seen, I am going to love it. The main issue with it is the game doesn't know what to do when the wheels spin, especially when using nitrous. One car that solves this is, bizarelly, the Hummer H1, it has 1000hp and has NO wheelspin at all in Performance Spec. On Pikes Peak its as fast as a circuit spec Hotrod, if both are at Lvl 40.

Apparently the rubberbanding is pretty bad in the races and takedown missions. The AI will stay ahead of you until the final moments and then let you win near the end. Just like GT6 then
Yes that is one of my few complaints with this game. I found as long as you use a car close to their recommended level it can be a pretty good race. However I did have a problem with 1 race in the campaign so far. The race against the Bentley Continental. I think it was just a bug but oh well I finally beat it.

Other than that race I am still having a great time with the game. Played quite a bit over the weekend and had some very late nights with @DDastardly00 . We finally unlocked the Vegas missions.

I started with the Challenger and had a good time with it. The 2015 Mustang has been the most fun for me in this game. I also purchased the 69 Camaro over the weekend. I will eventually get the new Camaro. One feature I like about the 69 Camaro is that there is so much customization you can make it look like a 67, 68, 69, or even a bit of 70 Camaro depending on the kits you install.

Sounds like I need to try PvP races then if the payout is good, ty.

I ran across a mission that gave me a hard time last night called Sucker Punch where you have to escape the cops, I tried it about 5 times with no luck, then went to bed.

I started with the 370Z and I love it, I use it for Street, Performance and Dirt races and it works great. Yesterday I broke down and bought the newer Camaro, which I believe is the best starting car and this is after starting with the Challenger, the Camaro and the Mustang in all 3 of the betas (and the 370Z for the full game); I just think the Camaro is the most balanced. Yesterday I spent a good amount of time just leveling up and customizing the Camaro, in 3 different specs, now it is even with my 370Z in each spec. As much as I love Z, it's nice having another choice and it looks awesome in Perf-spec.

Oh, and yes there is a Corvette ZR-1 in the game (the price is absurd though! lol, something like $443K).

I think I tried FUEL, and dropped it 5 minutes later because of it's horrible wheel compatibility. If a racing game doesn't work well with wheels, I'll drop it fast, like the last Most Wanted.

Ah, that's a shame. Just like sims are meant to be played with a wheel, I feel arcade racers are meant to be played with a controller. You don't know what you're gonna be missing if you only limit yourself with wheels. But each to their own 👍

I didn't know that. I thought you can fast travel anywhere right from the start in The Crew. That system is perfect then. Pretty nifty that you can use trains/planes as well :D

The cops are really tough to get away from until you have a car that can change direction quickly.

I stsrted with the 370Z as well, and use it for Street, Dirt, and Raid at the moment. I got the game free, so I spent the money for the Seasons Pass, and the 458 Speciale is my Perf car, and boy is it good!

I'm still in two minds about this game. I keep hearing good things about it and it seems the sort of arcade racer I would enjoy but then I'll hear a bad thing about it and I worry that it'll be a waste of money. Any help on a decision would be appreciated.

I got lucky with this was having trouble as well so I decided to do a quick co op with someone in my session that made it much easier. When you do a chase in co op one person has to try stop the cops so the other can get away if that person gets away you both get a medal.

It's brilliant but the handling isn't toogreat, if you have wheelspin it handles weird and is very slow. Pick a car with hardly any wheelspin, Mini, R34, Hummer etc. and use it.

Woo hoo, level 50 now! Earned my first bunch of platinum medals right away - actually previous times you set that are good enough to be platinum get transformed into platinum medals as well.

Also I drove from Vegas to LA last night... Once again spectacular scenery changes, from Death valley, through the giant woods to the city of angels. Very nice drive. Also loving the curvy, icy roads in the northern mountain states.

Thanks. However, your post and the one below it are the dilemma I'm in, you say handling is not great and then FLX1981's post directly below yours waxes lyrical about how great the change of scenery is on a long drive! Just can't make up my mind. Anyone else?

The best thing about this game is reaching level 50 on day one, and then doing PvP races in Detroit where everybody starts. You can stomp new players with your 1200 level car and make 15k each time, I'm on $860,000 or so now.

Also, don't buy the Agera R, its terrible.

Let me put it like this, as a racing game, its acceptable. It's not great but it is acceptable. As a roadtrip Test Drive game it is perfect. This game is perfect for taking a car across the country in a cruise with a few friends. If you ever wanted a road trip game this is the perfect one for you. The handling, from experience of the last PS4 beta, is decent. It is very playable, it handles ok but if you have a powerful RWD car (Camaro, LaFerrari, Agera etc.) then things will be difficult. The faster your car the harder it is to control, so a PI120 car is relatively easy to drive but you will have to be careful with a PI1200 because it will try to kill you. (PI is the little number that shows next to your car that is always bigger than the cars level, it shows the performance of the car)

Thanks again. I'm not expecting a racing game, so won't be looking for the level of finesse an Asseto Corsa gives me. How does the handling compare to say DC or FH2?

Personally, I feel it is more arcade like than both. DC is slidey but is relevant to its car, FH2 is basically F5, The Crew is sort of NFSMW 2005 mixed with Driver SF and GTAIV. It is fun, and corners like MW but you can slide it easily, like Driver and is pretty realistic like GTAIV. It depends on your settings. It would be good if they released a demo (Even if it only had the Midwest) to let people know how the handling is. As a racing game its not great but it handles well when you are cruising.

That's sort of my plan too. Level 38 now, only bought the 370Z, using the Seasons Pass vehicles to get me to 50 and earn more money. Will buy more of the cars later on.

Don't be a troll. Go pick on someone your own size!

I tried the Sucker Punch mission about 10 more times last night, it was frustrating and a hard but what ended up working was getting on the freeway going opposite of traffic, the police cruisers quickly took themselves out of commission by hitting the traffic cars.

The 370z is an awesome Perf car, I love the body options in this spec too. My plan is to have all specs for it and all specs for the newer Camaro too. I want the Viper but I need to get to 100 Uplay points first.

I didn't realize we could spend Upoints to get a car! I'm at 85 I think, I'll have to check.

I just did Sucker Punch a few nights ago, and if I remember the mission, I think I got off the freeway at the first exit. If you dive at the last second at exits, it's the easiest way to evade. I then went over the freeway and went in the other direction, then took off into the trees.

From all the reviews that I've read, if you want good racing and decent driving mechanics The Crew isn't for you. The AI is heavily rubberbanded, the physics are central axis type (think Codemasters but more arcadey), and the single player grind can take a while if you want to buy all cars and parts (without resorting to microtransactions). If you want to cruise around a large map with friends in heavily customized cars, The Crew is perfect. It just depends what you expect from a car game really.

Personally, the big map and heavy customization is a big pull for me. But because the basic mechanics are quite shoddy, buying it at full price isn't justified for me. I'll get it in a few years when the price drops to something more reasonable and just play it to cruise and explore the map.

That is, if the servers are still up by then

I'm not getting the Crew, well not til It's real cheap. I think £50 is a bit much for something that we have to play online. Going to get GTAV with my PS4 instead

Do invite friends missions, can get you 160K each race if you do the higher end stuff. It's like AC4 with the ship missions.

So how do you/can you get people to join you crew or join another crew??, I'm just on my own right now..

Anybody using a GTX660 (or something similar) can tell me on which settings runs the game?
Talking about PC version, obviously.
