Hey guys . just wondering if you can help me out.
loving the game and been playing it for two days with no major problems other then random disconnects here and there but today I can't log into the servers and getting a #0_1 error.

any ideas what this is? The game is useless at this point.

If you tried few minutes ago, it's because servers (PC version for sure) are under maintenance for some fixes, maybe they'll come up again in few minutes, the in-game pre-maintenance news said will be up at 16:45 CET (6 minutes remaining).

I won't have the full game until Christmas. I can't remember exactly what I used in the beta but it felt pretty good for an arcade game.

I used a T300RS with T3PA pedals and TH8A shifter. The clutch implementation was excellent. Can't remember whether I changed any in game clutch setting (if there is one).

Steering Sensitivity to max.
Nearly all other wheel or normal controls seemed best at either minimum or maximum.

The normal control settings definitely had an impact. I can't remember the setting names but trial and error soon got a pretty good feel. My experience was from the PS4 beta before the last one so things may have changed.

Don't expect SIM like handling but it certainly was engaging and felt semi realistic with no lag once configured. I liked the resistance/ffb which I think was configurable.

The PC version doesn't seem to recognize the clutch. At least not on my Thrustmaster TX, and I changed the setting to manual clutch and H-pattern shifter. When I look in the control options to adjust the pedal sensitivity, it doesn't even recognize the clutch when you press it. I went into the button mapping and there's nothing mapped to the clutch so I thought I would simply map it to my clutch pedal but it doesn't seem to see it there either, it just sits there waiting for me to press a button.

I am downloading it now on PC, I will let you know if I have the same issue with my Logitech G27 for the clutch. Obvious device differences aside obviously. I know "theslaptrain" is using the Crew on the Xbox1, and he is using the clutch via the T3PA pedal set, and the TH8A shifter without any problems.

So anyone with the PS4 and Thrustmaster T500 + Shifter able to use it properly?

I can't even steer it takes 2 turns of the wheel for the car to even more in the intended direction, its like the game doesn't know the T500 has 1080 rotation, and it hasnt changed it for the game... Even playing with the steering linearity and deadzone settings in the game doesnt do anything.

My shifter doesn work either, after choosing H gate in the menu, and the clutch options are all grayed out. WTF, even Driveclub wasnt this bad.

In the PS4 beta I had the same issue with rotation not being recognised but in changing one or two of the wheel AND controller settings I was able to solve it so that rotation was working correct and instantly. Unfortunately I don't remember exactly which settings. Default wheel set up is clearly not dependent on wheel nor set up well. However it can be fixed. Experiment more. If you tell me the names of all the wheel and game/controller settings I may be able to remember what I did.

Have you plugged the shifter into a separate USB port on your PC or into the back of the wheel? On a PC I think it needs to be into the PC separately.

I'm able to use a Thrustmaster TX, TH8A shifter and pedals but the clutch pedal isn't recognized and won't map to it.

On PC is your brake pedal registering in the Windows/Thrustmaster control panel software? If not then connect as above and if it is then you MAY have an issue with the pedal. I did and am expecting a replacement from Thrustmaster soon.

I apologize if it's been answered many times before but can you play this game alone? I know the games requires internet but can you play without others with you in the map?

Clutch pedal works fine in all other PC games.

@warp9engage I believe you can still do lots within the game alone. The developers said so referring to "lone wolves" but there are some things which can only be done in a "crew"

@jabz Try this below

1) Just set the “Steering Linearity” to the “Maximum” and “Steering dead zone” to the “Minimum” (in Smartphone/Options/Steering Linearity).
2) Exit the "smartphone" and save options.
3) The wheel will now turn correctly.

@Blkout I'm not sure what to suggest. Maybe there is an issue in the PC version. However I seem to remember someone having the same issue on PS4 in the beta and it worked in the end. Try plugging the wheel and shifter in after starting the PC? Then start the game. If that doesn't work I'd try contacting support? First port of call might be the official Crew Ubisoft forum

I've heard that also about this game from a friend who is playing it on PC.

Thank you for the reply. However, I'm still not sure my question has been answered. When you're playing The Crew, do you always come across other players on the map, regardless of playing solo missions? I mean can you be playing the single-player part of the game without having some other player around you, possibly bothering you?

Mmh, 2 crashes today (PC version) for me. First was an error which booted me out from the game, the second was a heavy freeze which forced me to shut down the computer from On/Off button.

Good question. Sorry I don't know that one. In the beta I didn't really try the missions much as I spent most of my time just exploring. I could certainly see other players from time to time when I was doing that.

Totally worth buying the gold edition.

So far really enjoying this game, runs as smooth as silk on my rig (e.g. constant 60FPS). But I stopped using the G27, I personally feel this game is much better enjoyed with chase cam and a (for me Logitech F710) controller. Enjoying the view and cruising around! :D

Loving my time with this one, too. Been to Pikes Peak, the mountain areas, Chicago, NY, Washington, Miami so far and having a blast with the story mode and the mini tests. Two questions though:

1) How do you get platin in a test? Thewre is a trophy for it, but I cant for the life of me get anything better than gold?
2) Seems inviting your friends into your crew doesnt work on PS4 and PC or did somebody manage to do that yet? Its weird, I can accept crew invitations for co-op missions from total strangers, but not from friends. Also I m not seeing my friends car on the road, only see their icon on the map. Kinda defeats the whole crew purpose thing. PvP doesnt seem to work neither.

It seems to be an issue with the PC version, I don't believe there's anything on my end that's causing it but if someone else with a TH8A or TH8RS shifter says there's is working in the PC version I'll certainly look into it. I'm used to this kind of stuff though, GRID Autosport on the PC wouldn't recognize the TH8RS or TH8A shifter but the G27 shifter would work fine. I think developers just accidentally overlook certain wheel/pedal/shifter combinations.

The clutch and shifter on the G27 work great in game, but differant wheel to yours though. Do you have standalone pedals for the TX? (the T500RS pedals), or the T3pa pedal set? Also with the shifter, do you have the TH8A plugged into the wheel itself, or into the pc via usb? Not sure if you have tried it both ways. I have to be honest here, I am glad my TX broke back in July. I am finding the G27 to be a far better wheel in all honesty. The only thing I do miss, is that belt drive system; which was super smooth. But in terms of compatibility and immersion out the box, the G27 is miles a head of it. For such an old wheel, that is saying something. I have only had the wheel since black friday, got it for £150 from currys in the uk.

Any word on if the game supports stand alone pedals yet? That's the only thing stopping me from adding this to the collection.

I have a Thrustmaster TX wheel, the pedals are stand alone Fanatec CSR Elite's but I use a Basher CPX adapter to make them appear to be Thrustmaster pedals. This combination works perfectly fine in all PC racing games/sims, clutch and all. Only this game seems to ignore the clutch pedal.

The TH8A shifter has to be used a stand alone on PC, its just the way its designed. It won't work on the PC if you plug into the wheel itself, only works that way on Xbox One. When you connect the TH8A on PC as a stand alone shifter, it treats it as a TH8RS shifter.

I have to completely disagree on the G27 being better than a TX and not even by a small margin either. I had a G27, went to a T500RS, and then to a TX. The T500 alone was MUCH better than the G27 and the TX is noticeably better than the T500RS to me also. The G27 is a great budget wheel, but that's about all I can say about it. The FFB isn't terribly strong, the shifter feels pretty spongy and cheap and the internal popping from the wheel when going over curbs or anything rough was a serious deal breaker for me.

Not yet, really sorry I didn't get a chance to test it yesterday, my PC was tied up doing video encoding all day. Promise to try to get it done later today.

My experience with the G27 so far has been nothing like that, but all these devices can feel different; even if made on the same day. It is the same with cars and motorbikes from the same product line, they all drive/ride differently in some way. I am finding the FFB pretty strong to be fair, and very intuitive. Having a great time racing and drifting with it on Assetto Corsa. I had a TX for 6 months before it stopped working, and I really enjoyed the wheel at the time; so I am not doing a blind unknowing comparison between the devices here. As I said, I do miss the belt drive from the TX wheel; it did provide "better" ffb effects. But at the same time, the G27 isn't weak or sluggish by a long shot. It also depends on the settings used by the individual as well, as not one of us will have identical settings for FFB effects; especially when it comes to pc sims with vastly more options available. I have no experience with the TH8A shifter, so I cant compare that one. It wasnt available when I had a working TX, and wasnt going to buy the TH8RS; as it would have gone to waste at the time. But I do know what you mean, as the G27 shifter feels nothing like a manual gearbox, and is clunky. It serves its purpose however. I wouldn't say that at £270 RRP for the G27, that it is a budget wheel by any stretch of the imagination. Just the hardware used within it is aged now. I was going to get a Fanatec CSR, but I could not say no to the £150 black friday price tag on the G27. It is a great, and known to be very reliable wheel. And to miss a discount of over £100, I would have had to go full retard to skip it. I may buy another TX in the future however, as now I have the G27; I should be set if I buy another TX that just doesn't last. My only issue with the TX wasn't the fact it broke after 6 months of excellent usability. It was down to Thrustmaster themselves, and how they refused to repair or replace the wheel when it stopped working. And telling me outright to "go to Amazon for a replacement"

Anyway, back to "the Crew". I noticed when I started the game up, even after setting up the options before entering the gameplay world; it bumped itself into "sequential" sifting mode in the games options. It took me a couple of minutes to find out why I couldnt select any gear with either the paddles or the shifter. Once I changed that, I was able to use the clutch and H-pattern without an issue

My default options were set to sequential also, but I changed them to manual H-Pattern and manual clutch but it still won't see the clutch though. The clutch seems stuck in automatic mode. I can manually change gears with the TH8A shifter but the clutch is automatic. It basically doesn't exist and I can change gears without using a clutch. I'm not too upset about it in this game though because I don't need that precision of using a clutch, to be honest I don't even really need to change gears with the shifter either. I'm perfectly fine using the paddle shifters as a sequential shift.

This game just gets more addictive every day I play it. My 2015 Mustang is now around level 145 and my driver level is around 15. Every upgrade, every time I level up, the car physics improve, more parts of the map are unlocked, more campaign missions are unlocked, and it just becomes even more addictive. I also unlocked more of the campaign so now I am able to start getting discounts off of the cars I purchase.

@DDastardly00 Are you going to be on tonight or over the weekend? I know you are 3 hours behind me. I will try to stay up later if you will be on. Or if you get on, send me an invite.

I'll be on tonight and tomorrow and Sunday (after the Eagles-Hawks game), I'll hit you up tonight, I'm going to try and get on a little earlier.

I hit level 23 last night, my street spec 370z is level 325 and my dirt 370z is almost 300 I think. Since I unlock the performance spec at level 20, I spent some money upgrading the Ferrari 458 italia to perf spec, I also bought it for my 370Z, which has an insane amount of body options, very impressed.

Still no problems with the game whatsoever, no errors, no disconnects, I can join whomever, whenever on the first try, the game runs flawlessly.

I think I am almost done with New York, I'm sure I have at least a few missions left. I unlocked The South last night then took a break from the story missions to drive down to Miami and visit the Performance spec tuner. After that I went back to the Midwest to find more wrecks, I think I have 2 left to get. The goal is to obtain a performance spec hot rod, because the screenshots I saw of them looked awesome. In street spec for the Hot Rod there are an amazing amount of options, perf spec should be no different. Looking forward to finally having a weekend to play this game, it's way too much fun.

Don't know how many people know this but every landmark you vist (over 200 of them) give $2000 EACH! great for making some quick money.

...Every upgrade, every time I level up, the car physics improve, ....
That's just stupid in my opinion - "physics" improving. I can understand a car's performance improving from upgrades but "physics"....
So, I'm more of a Assetto Corsa, Project CARS, RaceRoom, Game Stock Car Extreme, rFactor 2 type of guy - just what I prefer. BTW, I also own GRID/2/AS, F1, Dirt1/2/3, Wreckfest, Forza3/4/5, GT5/6, and others when I want some simple racing (but don't find I'm playing these). I tried the Crew demo and it wasn't my-cup-of-tea but you are saying that The Crew will start out like an NFS game and turn into a more sim type game? If so, they run the risk of turning people off with simplified physics to start with, me included.

I think what he meant is the arcade physics improve as this game is not a sim. When you level up your character, you are awarded with Perk points that you can spend on things like: Earn more a % XP points and Bucks, Better Braking, Better Handling, Discounts on parts, cars and more. You also level up your cars by installing newer, better parts, these can be purchased at Tuners, or won in Skills events across the map.

The upgrade system is really no different than any other RPG. In a game like Skyrim, not only do your upgrade your equipment, Sword, Armor etc but your also upgrade your character's attributes. In this game the car is your equipment and your Character becomes more skilled at using the equipment as it levels up.

I look forward to playing with you again. And dang you are already way ahead of me! Also yes I am amazed how well this game runs on the X1.

Yes I hit them up every time they show up on the map. Its also good to locate every single satellite.

^ Precisely!! Perfect description of this game. Yes this is exactly what I meant. @FuzzyFassbender

I think its going to be hard for people to understand how the RPG element works in this game until they play the full version and start gaining levels. This is one of the very first RPG racing games. I applaud their innovation. The other part I love is the fact they allow you to apply your RPG elements any way you want. If you want points toward better handling you can do that, do you want points going toward cheaper parts or cheaper cars, you can do that. Do you want points toward better breaking or better acceleration, you can do that. There is so much more depth to this game than I can even explain. Its truly a full on RPG in the form of a racing game. Complete innovation.
